2. “I know it’s important
but I don’t get why it’s
important.”
3. What LinkedIn can do for you
➢ LinkedIn accounts for 65% of all visits from
social media platforms to corporate websites. !
!
➢ 45% of B2B Marketers have gained
customers through LinkedIn. !
!
It is the most effective online recruiter and B2B
lead generator tool of all social media platforms. !
!
4. Let’s get to it…
5 Steps to mastering the presence your business and your
employees on LinkedIn: !
!
!
1. Sign up!!
2. Be an individual!
3. Get involved in discussions !
4. Create a company page!
5. Showcase your services
5. #1 – Get an account.
The first step is to get an account.
If you don’t have an account, you
can’t find leads on LinkedIn and
your leads can’t find you or your
business. !
!
It’s pretty straight forward. To sign
up, go to LinkedIn. Right now. If
you have employees – send them
an email to make an account. Do
that right now too.
If you need
help setting up
an individual
account, follow
one of these
tutorials.
6. #2 – Be true to you
But remember that you’re an ambassador too. On your
profile, highlight: !
!
➢ Your company, your position, and your
responsibilities!
➢ Any publications/certifications/links related to your
business and the industry you play in!
➢ Your skills (encourage people to endorse you by
endorsing them) !
!
NOTE: !
LinkedIn is all about reciprocity. Like any other business (or personal) relationship.
7. #3 – Initiate and participate
Join 5 groups on LinkedIn that are relevant to your interests
and your industry. Do it now. We can wait. !
!
➢ Participate in a discussion on each group once a
week. Ideally more, but you’re tight for time. !
!
➢ Share one of your posts or initiate your own
discussion in your groups once a week as well. !
!
NOTE!
Joining groups that aren’t necessarily related to your industry is OK. You never
know who’s out there and who you will spark an interest in. They could be a future
referral, or even client/customer.
8. #4 – Show off your baby
Create a company page. For a tutorial, click here. !
!
Some things to keep in mind: !
!
➢ Ensure all of your employees (yes all – because they now all
have an LinkedIn account) are linked to your Company!
!
➢ Your branding collateral (logos, cover/header photos, etc.)
should be consistent across all media platforms !
!
➢ Remember that you are trying to showcase and sell your
company when you are completing the “Company
Description” section. Keep it relevant and focused on your
target audience.
9. #5 – Show what your baby can do
Showcase Pages on LinkedIn offer
an opportunity to broadcast to your
target audience for specific products
or services. !
!
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? !
!
➢ Showcase pages are attached to
your company page!
➢ You can have up to 10!
➢ Larger header picture to showcase
and advertise!
➢ Targeted audience!
10. #5 – Show what your baby can do
LinkedIn Advertising can be
accessed here. !
!
Decide between creating an ad or
sponsoring one of your company’s
updates. Sponsoring gets your great
content onto your audience’s news
feed. Advertising is directly
promoting your company, a product
or a service.
11. #5 – Show what your baby can do
When creating an ad: !
!
1. TARGET! Be very specific. !
2. Pay attention to the preview of your ad.
If it looks bad, fix it. !
3. For budgeting, there are two options: !
➢ Cost-per-click (CPC)!
➢ Cost-per-impression (CPM) !
!
Generally on LinkedIn, CPC has the better Return on
Investment (ROI). But play around with it. You’ll never
know what works best for your company until you
experiment. And yes, the experimenting is worth it.
