Surfers Healing aims to provide surfing experiences for children with autism to help them accomplish goals and boost confidence. Trained volunteers guide children on surfboards to experience the ocean's therapeutic effects. These camps offer fun family days at the beach and show children with autism can succeed, defying expectations. The founder was inspired by his cousin with autism and wants to combine his love of surfing with helping people on the autism spectrum overcome barriers.

5. The reason I decided to use this non profit is because I believe children with autism can be productive people in our society, and I believe this program displays that point perfectly. Surfers Healing combines the love I have for surfing and the ocean with my beliefs I have about people with autism. My own cousin suffers from high functioning autism so I know first hand the struggles an barriers that effect children with autism. Personal Connection

Izzy Paskowitz exemplifies the type of person the Shuttleworth program promotes because of his use of critical thinking skills, that combine his love for his son and the ocean.

The program that Surfers Healing does is not only innovative but also very courageous, giving children with autism the chance to surf is something that has never been done before.
8. Autism affects 1 out of 110 children Autism is what doctors call a spectrum disorder, meaning that it does not effect everyone the same. 9. In the summer of 2011 there were 16 camps help for autistic children and there families. These event ranged from California to Puerto Rico, Hawaii to the East Coast. Output

11. Some of Surfers Healing funds goes to equipment like wetsuits, surfboards, tents, rash guards, life vests, food and drinks. The rest of the funds go to insurance, beach permits, administration cost. Input
