10. Guidelines 4.1.6. GIS GIS (Geographic Information Systems) can be used to integrate, store, edit, manage and present data which are spatially referenced (linked to location). The data that may be integrated in a GIS include raster images (e.g. digitised historic maps), vector images (e.g. maps captured using drawing software or data captured in the field using electronic measuring instruments), text and numeric data (e.g. databases describing the attributes of a location).
