What is AD Server
● Active Directory (AD) is Microsoft's proprietary directory service. It runs on Windows Server and enables
administrators to manage permissions and access to network resources.
● Active Directory is a database which stores the information about objects like USERS, GROUPS, PRINTER,
MEMBER SERVERs etc.
● Prerequisite
➔ A Windows server:-
Here in my example I am using windows server 2016 running on EC2 t2.micro, but you may
use any windows server to configure Active Directory.

Active Directory Domain Service
● A server running the Active Directory Domain Service (AD DS) role is called a domain controller. It authenticates and
authorizes all users and computers in a Windows domain type network, assigning and enforcing security policies for all
computers, and installing or updating software
