4. THE TUBING.
It’s a sterile plastic tube which serves as
a pathway through which IV fluids, blood
and its components passes.
5. THE DRIP CHAMBER.
It’s a sterile plastic device that prevents
air embolism and serves as where the
rate of fluids can be calculated and
monitored.
6. THE ROLLER CLAMP.
It’s a device that is used to regulate the
flow of IV fluids.it is also used for closing
and opening IV fluids therefore serving as
a key to the flow of IV fluids.
7. CONNECTION.
Pull the caps off the iv bag and the drip
chamber and connect them together.
Close the roller clamp and squeeze the
drip chamber once or twice to partially
fill it.
Open the roller clamp and let the IV fluid
fill the IV tubing and expel about a meal
or two . this is done to expel air from
the IV tube.
