ABSTRACT
• The key objective of our system design is to provide easy means for
normal, handicapped and old age persons to control and operate
home appliances.
• Since home automation is gaining popularity day by day in today’s
world, we require a system which is affordable and simple to
implement.
• Develop an embedded system which is used to control the home
appliances through voice for the visually impaired people and also
for the physically challenged people.
• Though various techniques have been proposed and are available
currently, most of them are not user friendly for the visually
impaired people and thus a friendly system has been developed for
them.
INTRODUCTION
• Wireless home network.
• Provide secure Realize the concept of a smart home.
• Has the more applications than the traditional manual methods.
• Require home automation system to satisfy their needs and comfort
while for physically challenged people it can provide great
assistance.
• Need a person which take care’s movement disabled or paralyzed
patient.
• And appliances cannot be handled by them. So they need constant
help and they cannot work independently.
• It can also be used to send messages Or call someone on mobile
phone, All this can be done with just a few voice commands.

MICRO PHONE
• A microphone is a transducer that converts sound into an electrical
signal.it is commonly named as Mike.
• Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones, hearing
aids, public address systems for concert halls and public events, motion
picture production audio engineering, radio and television broadcasting,
in computers for recording voice, speech recognition and for non-acoustic
purposes such as ultrasonic sensors.
FIG-2: MICRO PHONE
VOICE RECOGNITION MODULE
 A microphone picks up the signal of the speech to be recognized
and converts it into an electrical signal.
 A modern speech recognition system also requires that the
electrical signal be represented digitally by means of an analog-
to-digital (A/D) conversion process, so that it can be processed
with a digital computer or a microprocessor.
 This speech signal is then analyzed to produce a representation
consisting of salient features of the speech.
 speech pattern is then compared to a store of phoneme patterns or
models through a dynamic programming process in order to
generate a hypothesis of the phonemic unit sequence.
Parameters:
• Voltage: 4.5-5.5V.
• Current: <40mA.
• Digital Interface: 5V TTL level for UART
interface and GPIO.
• Analog Interface: 3.5mm mono-channel
microphone connector + microphone
pin interface.
• Size: 31mm x 50mm.

LCD
12
 A 16x2 alphanumeric LCD is
most widely used module of
LCD nowadays.
 The reason for choosing LCD
over other display component or
devices is that it is
 Low cost
 Easily programmable
 Large number of display
character etc.
 It has two type of register
inbuilt that is
 Command Register
 Data Register.
FIG-6: LCD
RF TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER
13
• It operates at Radio Frequency. The
corresponding frequency range
varies between 30 kHz & 300 GHz.
• In this RF system, the digital data is
represented as variations in the
amplitude of carrier wave.
• This kind of modulation is known as
Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK).
FIG-7 : RF TRANSMITTER CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
14
• The RF module is often used along
with a pair of encoder/decoder.
• The encoder is used for encoding
parallel data for transmission feed
while reception is decoded by a
decoder.
• HT12E-HT12D, HT640-HT648, etc.
are some commonly used encoder /
decoder pair ICs.
FIG-8 : RF RECEIVER CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
RELAY MODULE
 A relay is an electrically operated switch.
Many relays use an electromagnet to
mechanically operate a switch, but other
operating principles are also used, such
as solid-state relays.
 Relays are used where it is necessary to
control a circuit by a separate low-power
signal, or where several circuits must be
controlled by one signal.
 The first relays were used in long
distance telegraph circuits as amplifiers: they
repeated the signal coming in from one
circuit and re-transmitted it on another
circuit.

  • 3. ABSTRACT • The key objective of our system design is to provide easy means for normal, handicapped and old age persons to control and operate home appliances. • Since home automation is gaining popularity day by day in today’s world, we require a system which is affordable and simple to implement. • Develop an embedded system which is used to control the home appliances through voice for the visually impaired people and also for the physically challenged people. • Though various techniques have been proposed and are available currently, most of them are not user friendly for the visually impaired people and thus a friendly system has been developed for them.
  • 4. INTRODUCTION • Wireless home network. • Provide secure Realize the concept of a smart home. • Has the more applications than the traditional manual methods. • Require home automation system to satisfy their needs and comfort while for physically challenged people it can provide great assistance. • Need a person which take care’s movement disabled or paralyzed patient. • And appliances cannot be handled by them. So they need constant help and they cannot work independently. • It can also be used to send messages Or call someone on mobile phone, All this can be done with just a few voice commands.
  • 6. MICRO PHONE • A microphone is a transducer that converts sound into an electrical signal.it is commonly named as Mike. • Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones, hearing aids, public address systems for concert halls and public events, motion picture production audio engineering, radio and television broadcasting, in computers for recording voice, speech recognition and for non-acoustic purposes such as ultrasonic sensors. FIG-2: MICRO PHONE
  • 7. VOICE RECOGNITION MODULE  A microphone picks up the signal of the speech to be recognized and converts it into an electrical signal.  A modern speech recognition system also requires that the electrical signal be represented digitally by means of an analog- to-digital (A/D) conversion process, so that it can be processed with a digital computer or a microprocessor.  This speech signal is then analyzed to produce a representation consisting of salient features of the speech.  speech pattern is then compared to a store of phoneme patterns or models through a dynamic programming process in order to generate a hypothesis of the phonemic unit sequence.

  • 12. LCD 12  A 16x2 alphanumeric LCD is most widely used module of LCD nowadays.  The reason for choosing LCD over other display component or devices is that it is  Low cost  Easily programmable  Large number of display character etc.  It has two type of register inbuilt that is  Command Register  Data Register. FIG-6: LCD
  • 13. RF TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER 13 • It operates at Radio Frequency. The corresponding frequency range varies between 30 kHz & 300 GHz. • In this RF system, the digital data is represented as variations in the amplitude of carrier wave. • This kind of modulation is known as Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK). FIG-7 : RF TRANSMITTER CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
  • 14. 14 • The RF module is often used along with a pair of encoder/decoder. • The encoder is used for encoding parallel data for transmission feed while reception is decoded by a decoder. • HT12E-HT12D, HT640-HT648, etc. are some commonly used encoder / decoder pair ICs. FIG-8 : RF RECEIVER CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
  • 15. RELAY MODULE  A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch, but other operating principles are also used, such as solid-state relays.  Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.  The first relays were used in long distance telegraph circuits as amplifiers: they repeated the signal coming in from one circuit and re-transmitted it on another circuit.
