Giuseppe Arcimboldo was an Italian painter from Milan who lived from 1527 to 1593. He is known for creating portraits composed entirely of objects from nature like vegetables, fruits, flowers and animals. His most famous works include the four seasons and the four elements, where he depicted human heads and figures made up of natural items associated with each theme. Many of his works can be seen in museums today, including the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Ambras Castle in Innsbruck, and the Louvre in Paris.
