2. Welcome! Hello fellow 6010 students, my name is Joanna Sturgeon and I’m excited to be starting my graduate school journey with you all! I look forward to working with you and getting to know you better.
12. Goals and Expectations Having worked in a library for years, I feel I have a pretty good grasp of the profession. However, there is always more to learn and I look forward to learning more about aspects of the profession I am not so familiar with. I also look forward to learning about different library environments, since I have only worked in a “rural” village library. I plan to specialize in the more technical aspects of the profession. I love technology’s possibilities and believe it is a huge part of our profession’s future. Once I obtain my MLIS I hope to move into a more technologically demanding position. As a long term goal, I would love to be in a position in a large library or other institution on the cutting edge of technological advancements.
17. Excellent writing skillsI prefer teammates who also value excellence in their work, are enthusiastic and easy to communicate with. It may be difficult, but a great learning experience, to work with people whose standards of work are a bit less rigid.
22. Sing!I have been married 10 years in January. I am a vegetarian working on going vegan. I am very interested in psychology and the mental health field, which I just find fascinating. I do have a professional twitter account @WordsAkimbo. I typically only post on science, technology, librarianship, and now library school issues.
