College Essay On Film Editing
Editing is one of the most important parts of filmmaking. Film Editing is one of my favorite
things to do. But let's get to the point. I have recently graduated from a recognized film school and
I just created a short film that goes viral. I am anxious for a TV/ film production company to see
my produced video. Or if that doesn't work you make ads to get your name out there for local job
openings, or recruitments. Well no one's interested in an award winning filmmaker! A production
company with standards is not going to consider a student who just graduated from a film school. A
degree in law, master's or engineering degree all are bait for finding a job easily. Sure I may know
how to block a scene, move a dolly, edit, correct colors and mix

Letter to the Editor on Marriage I am writing in regards to Tauriq Moosa's We need to have a frank
discussion about marriage featured on The Guardian website. It is an intriguing article that brings up
many excellent points and I want to commend Tauriq on his dedication to the topic ofmarriage and
its place in today's society. As a wife and a mother of two I have some disagreements and concerns to
what is being described as "a gun to the throat." In the beginning of your article I was quite disturbed
by your disapproval of desiring marriage to be a part of a relationship. I acknowledge that marriage
is not a...show more content...
I am not in any way saying that marriage is easy and I believe divorce rates are increasingly high
because our generation and those past are becoming accustomed to the eases of today's lifestyle,
the marriages that last are the ones that truly understand the commitment that is being made not just
seeing it as the final step in a relationship because this is not in any way true. The advancement of
a relationship doesn't end with marriage or children, after all there is a lifetime ahead of you with
the person you have married, there will be trials and some of the most difficult times of your life.
Marriage requires a commitment to fall in love with that person over and over again each day.
Marriage isn't for everyone but instead of detouring those who may be considering it lets focus on
the value it has to the individual. No two people are alike and no to marriages are either, I
commend your enthusiasm and dedication to disapproving the commitment to marriage however
from my view marriage should not be degraded this way, it should be the individuals choice and it
should be portrayed in that way.

Letter to the Editor Essay
Dear Editor,
I was disgusted to read the letter from Mr I Amok, and the points he made on poverty. Where he
said, "poverty isn't that bad, only a few people are really poor". I think that he hasn't studied
countries enough because countries in Africa have people that can't even afford food, clean water
and clothing as it is stated in the booklet where it said, "our water hole dried up". Where he said
people just want us to "feel sorry for them", they just want us to help them because it...show more

Where he visited it is probably in "relative poverty" because some sections on the country are doing
ok, that's tourism section, but the rest is in poverty that is the locals. The other sort of poverty is
"absolute poverty" that is when they cant affording the basic necessities to survive; it is also
described as living below the poverty line, they are never going to get above the poverty if they cant
make no money especially trading with other countries.
He goes on about how people say that countries trade unfairly to the LEDC he says "how
ridiculous. Nobody has to trade. It's a free country". He is correct in saying they don't have to but
the problem is they need to, they cant get no income from there own country because everyone is
in debt, so they have to take there products abroad to get a little money. We are buying their
products low and selling them with a great profit to us. We are ripping them off but it is our fault
in the first place for them selling the products at such a low price because we got them into debt by
making them change the crops they grew, so they were no longer self dependent. There is a real
case like this in Sudan the empire went over to Africa and saw that Sudan had a lot of

When engaging in rhetorical writing, it can be difficult for individuals to remain objective and
grounded. Often times individuals will neglect to properly employ the rhetorical appeals in a
manner that supports their claim. The author who wrote "A Letter to the Editor" failed to construct a
compelling argument. The authors argument has numerous inadequacies that inevitably fail to
persuade the desired audience to support his or hers point of view. The authors argument is devoid
of objective analysis, proper rhetorical appeal, and fails to offer a concession. The authors point of
view on the subject matter is clearly evident. The author does not argue that cheating exists or that it
does not take place at Monroe College, rather the author contends that cheating is not a big deal at
all. For instance the author states that, "the very fact that so many loyal Monroe students indulge in
this is evidence that it can't be very wrong."(Twenty Questions for the Writer 1). From this statement
alone the author is identifying his or herself as a non–credible source. Turning what could have been
an assertive piece on the hypocrisies of cheating in school into the equivalent of a blog post. In
addition the author uses abstract analogies in hopes of persuading the audience, however, these
analogies do more to lessen the authors logical credibility than strengthen it. Furthermore, the
authors choice of vocabulary and use of words like "puritans" to describe the faculty creates a

Genome Editing Essay
Introduction
Genome editing is a huge leap forward in science and medicine. Because of recent advances in
technology, the study of genes and induced 'point' mutations have led to the discovery and
advancement of methods previously used in order to mutate genes. The development of Clusters
of Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPRs) and CRISPR associated system 9
protein (Cas9) technology is a hugely significant leap forward as this is a tool that could potentially
be used for the research into and hopefully the treatment of a range of medical conditions that are
genetically related. Cystic fibrosis (Schwank, G. et al, 2013), haemophilia and sickle cell disease are
an example of some of the conditions that have the...show more content...
Once the complex was bound to the DNA, a cut would be made to eliminate and destroy the
invaders. 83% of archaeal genomes and 45% of bacterial genomes (Shabbir, M. et al, 2016) were
shown to be able to successfully utilize the CRISPR Cas9 system. These are very promising
statistics, so it is no wonder that there has been such an advancement in the past few years to bring
this technology to eukaryotic cells, mammalian cells and eventually human cells.
With the rate and volume that new experiments and experimental procedures are being tried and
tested, it can be expected that a Nobel Prize will soon be won for the discovery and advancement of
this potential life–saving 'tool'. The category of Nobel Prize and who it potentially should be
awarded to are discussed later in this essay.
The Role of CRISPR/Cas9 as a Genome Editing Tool
There are three types of CRISPR systems. The Type II CRISPR system (where the interface is
mediated by a single large protein in conjunction with crRNA) is the simplest of the three and it is
this one that has been the basis for genome editing.
The Cas9 protein is an enzyme that effectively acts as a pair of molecular 'scissors', cutting

Essay on Website Design
Facebook, Myspace, Yahoo, Google, and Twitter are all websites that people use every day, but
how did they get there and how were they created? Website design is a process of assorting and
linking codes and graphics into a text editor such as notepad and then displaying it onto a web
browser. There is a large amount of things to remember for website design. Ranging from HTML,
CSS, and XHTML codes to scripting languages like Java Script. Website design has a vast history
considering it is a fairly young profession. Website design uses complex codes to create web pages
in addition with programs aiding in the creation; when you join the two components together it is a
long complicated process that ends in purchasing a domain name for a...show more content...
Websites did not need to be big, elaborate, and flashy. They just needed to get the point across, and
that is exactly the purpose they served. In 1994 the World Wide WebConsortim or W3C was
established to oversee the development of web technology standards. The W3C designated
HTML as the primary code language for the future of website design to be based on. Of course
they have made advancements in the base design code such as HTML versions one, two, three,
four, and XHTML. The very first and current director of W3C is Tim Berners–Lee. Tim actually
invented the World Wide Web in 1991 and created the world's first website. He put the first
website online on August 6, 1991. The web address was http://info.cern.ch/. Unfortunately it no
longer exists in its original form. The W3C is still in charge of code techniques and development
guidelines that website development follows. Technology has advanced over the years in web
design. Website design is cut up into four generations. The first generation of web design was
very simple. It was basically just text, this was because early modems were very slow and plain
basic webpages would load much faster this way. The second generation was slightly more
advanced as the development of HTML became more complicated. The third generation of web
design is when website designers could add vibrant colors and animated images to their webpage.
The evolution of websites and their

Ritual And Theatre Analysis
Rituals and theater, which are both cultural performances, have similarities such as serving the
purpose of entertaining teaching the audience, belief from audiencce, use of props, use of space,
and repesentaion. Since during this time period many commoners did not know how to read, the
church had to present these rituals in order to teach them about events in the bible like the
Crucification of Jesus Christ. Similaritly, a play will serve the purpose to teach the audience a
certain idea that the playwright believes is necessary for the audience members, the audience vary
depending on the time this play was written, to learn or understand. Unlike a play, which has no
certain time frame to be perform, a ritual is perform during certain time of the liturgical year; for

Similarity, the medival church did this to catch people's attention and to teach them the gospel.
Another main difference between modern day theater and ritual is actors method in becoming the
character. Modern actors submerge themselves psychologically and emotionally into the characters,
while in this time period psychology did not exist so this sort of submergence into character did
not exist. Another main difference between ritual and a theatrical performance is the belief from
audience. In a play, the audience knows what is happening is an act of fiction and they understand
that it might seem real but it is not. On the other hand an audience at a religious ritual believes that
the ritual did happen and it is just a reenactment of a true biblical story. But like any performances,
rituals do change as outside work influences the playwright of these rituals and causes small changes
to the original biblical story or they create new stories that show religious morals and

Why Be A Yearbook Editor Essay
I am eagerly willing to take the position of yearbook editor, as well as a student leader, during my
senior year at ANC. I think I am good for this particular position due to the following reasons:
1: I have been at ANC for four years, so I know the teachers well. And I feel really comfortable
working with the teachers at ANC because they are just so nice. I also have good relationship with
most students here (at least I don't know anyone who hates me). Since I spent my whole high school
journey at ANC, I am very familiar with the student government and the roles of being a student
leader, and I would like to keep exploring new things. I have also talked to some of the former
yearbook editor, so I have a really good preview of how to be a good yearbook editor.

From the experiences went through during the first 17 years of my life, I think people feel relaxed

sometimes "crazy". So I think I can work very well with a partner. Also, I know that a huge part of
the job is to "chase" people for things. That is fine for me, because I like to "disturb" people's lives.
6: I have a good sense of art. I took art lessons since I was in kindergarten, and I am still taking
drawing class now at ANC. Since art in highly involved in editing yearbooks, I think I am fit for that
requirement.
7: Two good qualities of me, that nowaday most people don't have, are that I don't procrastinate and
I don't take shortcuts. I think these qualities are important for being both a yearbook editor and a
student leader. Because the general and most important goal is to get the works done.
8: Another reason I want to be yearbook editor is that I have never had class with Mrs Walker! I
really want to work with her so I don't regret after I

College Admissions Essay: I Want To Be A Writer
The top shelf of my closet contains a towering, rather intimidating pile of notebooks.
A few of them are completely blank, devoid of anything besides blue college–ruled lines. Most,
however, are well–worn, with pages upon pages covered in handwritten rainbows of ink and
graphite. Even though their contents may not be worth the space, and they are completely filled, I
cannot bring myself to throw those notebooks away. They are a part of my history.
I've always been inclined towards language; my first memory involves sitting in my grandparents'
living room at age three, reading Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham out loud. About ten years later,
my ninth grade English teacher read my first "high school essay" and could almost immediately tell
that I enjoyed writing.

During a period of frantic research in the autumn of my junior year, I found an article about
linguistics, which seemed like an extremely welcome balance between the two disciplines – it is, at
its most basic, the study and interpretation of language and grammar. It would allow me to analyze

aspect of the field sounded incredibly appealing – as a Latin student, I am surprisingly comfortable

Walter Murch Editing
In summary, film editors may employ a wide variety of cutting techniques to obtain their desired
effect. However, all of this depends on the mood the editor is attempting to portray to the audience.
Portraying mood can rely heavily upon the context of the scene and the overall 'flow' of the film and
this can be demonstrated through means of manipulating timing and pacing. Although these words
can be interpreted to mean the same thing, there are major differences between them and one cannot
exist without the other.
Walter Murch states that "one of the central responsibilities of the editor" is "to establish an
interesting, coherent rhythm of emotion and thought – on the tiniest and the largest scales – that
allows the audience to trust, to give themselves to the film." (Murch (2001))...show more content...
Besides editing being both an art form and a technical profession, it is still possible to recognize
'good' timing from 'bad'. Having a good sense of timing sometime cannot be taught and is only an
inherent characteristic of the person. Murch believes this by comparing editing to the act of dance,
stating that "editing is certainly 70% about rhythm and what you are showing and the rate at which
you are showing it. It's very hard to teach this. In a sense, it's like dance. You can explain the
rudiments of dance, but to really learn how to dance you have to dance. You just have to get out
there and do it." (Murch (2016))
Mood
Mood in film is often related to other terms such as "tone" or "atmosphere". Mood can be shown
through various means such as story, character, actor's performance, implication or motive and
cinematic presentation through audio and visual methods.
Timing
Having "good timing" or "keeping good time" is often something that comes naturally, or otherwise
requires a long time to master. Timing can be broken down into three main

What Makes A Good Writer?
The most important thing that a piece "good" writing does is make people question where they
stand on certain topics. This is the most important thing because when you question things you
learn more, and when learn more you will be able to teach more. When you read something you do
not want to just read it and not learn anything from it, then there would have been no purpose in
reading it. Writers do not just write papers so they can tell the reader what is right or wrong. They
write to explain their theory, to make others understand where they are coming from and the logic
behind them.
A writer can accomplish composing a "good" piece of writing by making sure he has logical
reasoning behind their statements, by making it noticeable when they transition into explaining
another point, and when by not letting their personal feelings be put ahead of their logical
reasons, and by making the reader question them. These are not only important for the author but
it is also important for the reader. If a author does not have a logical reasoning behind his
statements than the reader can not take it as a credible source and they will most likely not believe
it. Transitions are a huge part of good writing also because if a reader can not tell when your last
point ends and the next one starts...show more content...

Analysis Of No Edit By Randy Cohen
In his essay "No Edit", Randy Cohen, former writer of the New York Times' "Ethicist" column,
addresses the issue of whether teachers should edit college–application essays for their students. Mr.
Cohen, who is clearly in opposition, also offers a counterpoint to his opinion by including several
statements from Jeffrey Brenzel, dean of undergraduate admissions at Yale. Mr. Brenzels' stance is
firmly in the affirmative, "I would think it foolish of a student not to have an essay proofed for
spelling, grammar and syntax by someone competent to do so. We are not looking to take the
measure of writing ability, genius or cleverness. We simply want to know something about personal

In the business world, these traits are often referred to as "soft assets", intangibles that add value
above what can be easily quantified. Is the applicant shy, outgoing, a natural leader, is he or she

itself; knowing something about a student's character can help the admissions board make a more
informed decision. This brings me to my most grievous condemnation of editing and of Mr.
Brenzels' assertion "...writing ability, genius and cleverness." are not being critiqued.
The power of the written word, it is something I believe in; and having read an essay, I can not
believe that anyone, even a college admission officer, could entirely separate their personal
opinion of the essay from the academic worthiness of the student. Unlike oral traditions, the
written word has stability, portability and permanence, the same piece of work may be read and
reread exactly as it was first written. Writing allows us to make our thoughts visible to others; it
gives us the ability to express and explain complex events, emotions, and situations. Words can

Becoming A Writer As Editor
Anyone who has ventured into the wonderful and mesmerizing world of entrepreneurship
understands that you learn as you go, even when you have had a good foundation and pre–existing
knowledge in your field. Launching Queendom Magazine has afforded me the opportunity to learn
thing that I would not have if I had solely a writer. It has also exposed me to more than I would
have encountered before.
In my function as Editor In Chief, I have been receiving countless articles from writers with varying
writing skill sets and levels. Some of the pieces that I receive take my breath away, either because
the writer and/or their message were amazing or because the piece's grammar was horrifying and
the message unclear. Regardless, because I launched my magazine with the intention of helping
skilled and novice writers get exposure, I work with what they give me as long as I can see their
thought process.
What I am finding across the board is that many writers are not aware of how to 'seal the deal'
with their audience. As an author, all you have to do is craft an amazing book that keeps your
reader hooked and wanting more of what you offer. As a blogger or any other writer who needs to
grow their audience, retention is also a part of your game. So how do you grow and retain your
audience? One major key is–ENGAGEMENT.
Ask them questions. You wrote a piece that they read, right? Something about the title or you made

an adult; having the insight on both junctures permits me to express my experience and emotions of
live theatre. I do not see or feel the same connection when viewing a film as I do with live theatre.
Theatre is a relationship between the performers and a live audience. There is an invisible yet tangible
energy that exude throughout the theatre, reaching the actors and audience. Both the performers and
the audience bring their own energy, but once the two forms of energy meet up in the same space
and intertwine then become a radiate experience. The natural excitement of anticipation and

low chatter and sight of the person's attire add to the excitement of being in a place that can make
the magic happen.
On the other hand, the performers bring their own set of anticipation and excitement to the opening
night. The actors are tasked with bringing an illusion to reality for the audience. Once the actors hit
the stage there must be a transformation that take place, now in real time they must become the

Reflection Of Creative Writing
It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown
through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer
to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for
the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my
understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further
evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing
a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of
detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether
poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push
myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled
at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about
it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a
story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can
make to your writing.
Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to
writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that having great skill and talent was what was required
to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my
writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of
Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If
I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not let
anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have
any special talent. The article "Why I Write" instilled further optimism through the authors view on
just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes
"entirely to find out what I'm

  • 1. College Essay On Film Editing Editing is one of the most important parts of filmmaking. Film Editing is one of my favorite things to do. But let's get to the point. I have recently graduated from a recognized film school and I just created a short film that goes viral. I am anxious for a TV/ film production company to see my produced video. Or if that doesn't work you make ads to get your name out there for local job openings, or recruitments. Well no one's interested in an award winning filmmaker! A production company with standards is not going to consider a student who just graduated from a film school. A degree in law, master's or engineering degree all are bait for finding a job easily. Sure I may know how to block a scene, move a dolly, edit, correct colors and mix Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay Letter to the Editor Letter to the Editor on Marriage Elizabeth Nunez DeVry University Advanced Composition January 12, 2014 Letter to the Editor on Marriage I am writing in regards to Tauriq Moosa's We need to have a frank discussion about marriage featured on The Guardian website. It is an intriguing article that brings up many excellent points and I want to commend Tauriq on his dedication to the topic ofmarriage and its place in today's society. As a wife and a mother of two I have some disagreements and concerns to what is being described as "a gun to the throat." In the beginning of your article I was quite disturbed by your disapproval of desiring marriage to be a part of a relationship. I acknowledge that marriage is not a...show more content... I am not in any way saying that marriage is easy and I believe divorce rates are increasingly high because our generation and those past are becoming accustomed to the eases of today's lifestyle, the marriages that last are the ones that truly understand the commitment that is being made not just seeing it as the final step in a relationship because this is not in any way true. The advancement of a relationship doesn't end with marriage or children, after all there is a lifetime ahead of you with the person you have married, there will be trials and some of the most difficult times of your life. Marriage requires a commitment to fall in love with that person over and over again each day. Marriage isn't for everyone but instead of detouring those who may be considering it lets focus on the value it has to the individual. No two people are alike and no to marriages are either, I commend your enthusiasm and dedication to disapproving the commitment to marriage however from my view marriage should not be degraded this way, it should be the individuals choice and it should be portrayed in that way. • 3. Letter to the Editor Essay Dear Editor, I was disgusted to read the letter from Mr I Amok, and the points he made on poverty. Where he said, "poverty isn't that bad, only a few people are really poor". I think that he hasn't studied countries enough because countries in Africa have people that can't even afford food, clean water and clothing as it is stated in the booklet where it said, "our water hole dried up". Where he said people just want us to "feel sorry for them", they just want us to help them because it...show more content... Where he visited it is probably in "relative poverty" because some sections on the country are doing ok, that's tourism section, but the rest is in poverty that is the locals. The other sort of poverty is "absolute poverty" that is when they cant affording the basic necessities to survive; it is also described as living below the poverty line, they are never going to get above the poverty if they cant make no money especially trading with other countries. He goes on about how people say that countries trade unfairly to the LEDC he says "how ridiculous. Nobody has to trade. It's a free country". He is correct in saying they don't have to but the problem is they need to, they cant get no income from there own country because everyone is in debt, so they have to take there products abroad to get a little money. We are buying their products low and selling them with a great profit to us. We are ripping them off but it is our fault in the first place for them selling the products at such a low price because we got them into debt by making them change the crops they grew, so they were no longer self dependent. There is a real case like this in Sudan the empire went over to Africa and saw that Sudan had a lot of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. When engaging in rhetorical writing, it can be difficult for individuals to remain objective and grounded. Often times individuals will neglect to properly employ the rhetorical appeals in a manner that supports their claim. The author who wrote "A Letter to the Editor" failed to construct a compelling argument. The authors argument has numerous inadequacies that inevitably fail to persuade the desired audience to support his or hers point of view. The authors argument is devoid of objective analysis, proper rhetorical appeal, and fails to offer a concession. The authors point of view on the subject matter is clearly evident. The author does not argue that cheating exists or that it does not take place at Monroe College, rather the author contends that cheating is not a big deal at all. For instance the author states that, "the very fact that so many loyal Monroe students indulge in this is evidence that it can't be very wrong."(Twenty Questions for the Writer 1). From this statement alone the author is identifying his or herself as a non–credible source. Turning what could have been an assertive piece on the hypocrisies of cheating in school into the equivalent of a blog post. In addition the author uses abstract analogies in hopes of persuading the audience, however, these analogies do more to lessen the authors logical credibility than strengthen it. Furthermore, the authors choice of vocabulary and use of words like "puritans" to describe the faculty creates a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Genome Editing Essay Introduction Genome editing is a huge leap forward in science and medicine. Because of recent advances in technology, the study of genes and induced 'point' mutations have led to the discovery and advancement of methods previously used in order to mutate genes. The development of Clusters of Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPRs) and CRISPR associated system 9 protein (Cas9) technology is a hugely significant leap forward as this is a tool that could potentially be used for the research into and hopefully the treatment of a range of medical conditions that are genetically related. Cystic fibrosis (Schwank, G. et al, 2013), haemophilia and sickle cell disease are an example of some of the conditions that have the...show more content... Once the complex was bound to the DNA, a cut would be made to eliminate and destroy the invaders. 83% of archaeal genomes and 45% of bacterial genomes (Shabbir, M. et al, 2016) were shown to be able to successfully utilize the CRISPR Cas9 system. These are very promising statistics, so it is no wonder that there has been such an advancement in the past few years to bring this technology to eukaryotic cells, mammalian cells and eventually human cells. With the rate and volume that new experiments and experimental procedures are being tried and tested, it can be expected that a Nobel Prize will soon be won for the discovery and advancement of this potential life–saving 'tool'. The category of Nobel Prize and who it potentially should be awarded to are discussed later in this essay. The Role of CRISPR/Cas9 as a Genome Editing Tool There are three types of CRISPR systems. The Type II CRISPR system (where the interface is mediated by a single large protein in conjunction with crRNA) is the simplest of the three and it is this one that has been the basis for genome editing. The Cas9 protein is an enzyme that effectively acts as a pair of molecular 'scissors', cutting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay on Website Design Facebook, Myspace, Yahoo, Google, and Twitter are all websites that people use every day, but how did they get there and how were they created? Website design is a process of assorting and linking codes and graphics into a text editor such as notepad and then displaying it onto a web browser. There is a large amount of things to remember for website design. Ranging from HTML, CSS, and XHTML codes to scripting languages like Java Script. Website design has a vast history considering it is a fairly young profession. Website design uses complex codes to create web pages in addition with programs aiding in the creation; when you join the two components together it is a long complicated process that ends in purchasing a domain name for a...show more content... Websites did not need to be big, elaborate, and flashy. They just needed to get the point across, and that is exactly the purpose they served. In 1994 the World Wide WebConsortim or W3C was established to oversee the development of web technology standards. The W3C designated HTML as the primary code language for the future of website design to be based on. Of course they have made advancements in the base design code such as HTML versions one, two, three, four, and XHTML. The very first and current director of W3C is Tim Berners–Lee. Tim actually invented the World Wide Web in 1991 and created the world's first website. He put the first website online on August 6, 1991. The web address was http://info.cern.ch/. Unfortunately it no longer exists in its original form. The W3C is still in charge of code techniques and development guidelines that website development follows. Technology has advanced over the years in web design. Website design is cut up into four generations. The first generation of web design was very simple. It was basically just text, this was because early modems were very slow and plain basic webpages would load much faster this way. The second generation was slightly more advanced as the development of HTML became more complicated. The third generation of web design is when website designers could add vibrant colors and animated images to their webpage. The evolution of websites and their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Ritual And Theatre Analysis Rituals and theater, which are both cultural performances, have similarities such as serving the purpose of entertaining teaching the audience, belief from audiencce, use of props, use of space, and repesentaion. Since during this time period many commoners did not know how to read, the church had to present these rituals in order to teach them about events in the bible like the Crucification of Jesus Christ. Similaritly, a play will serve the purpose to teach the audience a certain idea that the playwright believes is necessary for the audience members, the audience vary depending on the time this play was written, to learn or understand. Unlike a play, which has no certain time frame to be perform, a ritual is perform during certain time of the liturgical year; for example, the passion of the cross...show more content... Similarity, the medival church did this to catch people's attention and to teach them the gospel. Another main difference between modern day theater and ritual is actors method in becoming the character. Modern actors submerge themselves psychologically and emotionally into the characters, while in this time period psychology did not exist so this sort of submergence into character did not exist. Another main difference between ritual and a theatrical performance is the belief from audience. In a play, the audience knows what is happening is an act of fiction and they understand that it might seem real but it is not. On the other hand an audience at a religious ritual believes that the ritual did happen and it is just a reenactment of a true biblical story. But like any performances, rituals do change as outside work influences the playwright of these rituals and causes small changes to the original biblical story or they create new stories that show religious morals and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I didn't know what exactly I wanted to achieve, but I undoubtedly want to do something in a medical field. Human's body is quite fascinating to me, but after spending time volunteering at the hospital, taking medical–related classes, and dissecting, I was unable to picture myself in the scrub, working breathlessly in the frantic hospital hallway. I am clueless about what I what to pursue in the future, but I believe that the eighteen years old me still have a lot of potentials and opportunities. At this point, you might be frowning and begin to question my previous statement. How could someone who only worked hard enough just to receive a B's will receive an A in this class? I am also not a very experienced writer as I've established earlier. I also fully understand that this course will be more challenging than any of my previous English classes, hence I am having an anxiety attack while writing this essay, nevertheless I truly want to become a better writer. • 9. Why Be A Yearbook Editor Essay I am eagerly willing to take the position of yearbook editor, as well as a student leader, during my senior year at ANC. I think I am good for this particular position due to the following reasons: 1: I have been at ANC for four years, so I know the teachers well. And I feel really comfortable working with the teachers at ANC because they are just so nice. I also have good relationship with most students here (at least I don't know anyone who hates me). Since I spent my whole high school journey at ANC, I am very familiar with the student government and the roles of being a student leader, and I would like to keep exploring new things. I have also talked to some of the former yearbook editor, so I have a really good preview of how to be a good yearbook editor. 2: During the summer, I got a working opportunity at the local government of my hometown. People who know me generally say that I have a really good sense of humor and sometimes "crazy". So I think I can work very well with a partner. Also, I know that a huge part of the job is to "chase" people for things. That is fine for me, because I like to "disturb" people's lives. 6: I have a good sense of art. I took art lessons since I was in kindergarten, and I am still taking drawing class now at ANC. Since art in highly involved in editing yearbooks, I think I am fit for that requirement. 7: Two good qualities of me, that nowaday most people don't have, are that I don't procrastinate and I don't take shortcuts. I think these qualities are important for being both a yearbook editor and a student leader. Because the general and most important goal is to get the works done. 8: Another reason I want to be yearbook editor is that I have never had class with Mrs Walker! • 11. Smarthinking: A Peer Review This peer review on Smarthinking was great. I did not expect it to give me such thorough responses. The reviewer, Padma P., gave descriptions on what I need to work on, and then she provided examples to help clarify my mistakes and show me the proper way to write. For instance, she explained that I had a homonym error with the word effecting because it is a different word from affecting. She gave the example of using the words eight and ate incorrectly. Blatantly both, eight and ate, have different meanings. I am going to focus on finding an attention grabber for my persuasive essay, because it will hopefully make the reader more engaged and convinced by my stance. I was surprised by her analysis of my thesis statement. I thought I was clear, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. College Admissions Essay: I Want To Be A Writer The top shelf of my closet contains a towering, rather intimidating pile of notebooks. A few of them are completely blank, devoid of anything besides blue college–ruled lines. Most, however, are well–worn, with pages upon pages covered in handwritten rainbows of ink and graphite. Even though their contents may not be worth the space, and they are completely filled, I cannot bring myself to throw those notebooks away. They are a part of my history. I've always been inclined towards language; my first memory involves sitting in my grandparents' living room at age three, reading Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham out loud. About ten years later, my ninth grade English teacher read my first "high school essay" and could almost immediately tell that I enjoyed writing. Although his assessment was correct, I often felt separated from my friends who self–identify as writers – I never had the same inherent creativity in my narratives, the same ability to build escapist fictional...show more content... As a child, I had often responded to the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" with an enthusiastic "I want to be an author!" Therefore, I had quite a bit of nostalgia attached to that sentiment, and panicked when I began to be asked about college majors. I saw myself as too scientific for the arts, but too artistic for the sciences. During a period of frantic research in the autumn of my junior year, I found an article about linguistics, which seemed like an extremely welcome balance between the two disciplines – it is, at its most basic, the study and interpretation of language and grammar. It would allow me to analyze intricacies instead of create them, which I felt much more equipped to do. Even the grammatical aspect of the field sounded incredibly appealing – as a Latin student, I am surprisingly comfortable with grammar. I suddenly felt like I had a path to follow in my post–high school education – and a versatile one at Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Walter Murch Editing In summary, film editors may employ a wide variety of cutting techniques to obtain their desired effect. However, all of this depends on the mood the editor is attempting to portray to the audience. Portraying mood can rely heavily upon the context of the scene and the overall 'flow' of the film and this can be demonstrated through means of manipulating timing and pacing. Although these words can be interpreted to mean the same thing, there are major differences between them and one cannot exist without the other. Walter Murch states that "one of the central responsibilities of the editor" is "to establish an interesting, coherent rhythm of emotion and thought – on the tiniest and the largest scales – that allows the audience to trust, to give themselves to the film." (Murch (2001))...show more content... Besides editing being both an art form and a technical profession, it is still possible to recognize 'good' timing from 'bad'. Having a good sense of timing sometime cannot be taught and is only an inherent characteristic of the person. Murch believes this by comparing editing to the act of dance, stating that "editing is certainly 70% about rhythm and what you are showing and the rate at which you are showing it. It's very hard to teach this. In a sense, it's like dance. You can explain the rudiments of dance, but to really learn how to dance you have to dance. You just have to get out there and do it." (Murch (2016)) Mood Mood in film is often related to other terms such as "tone" or "atmosphere". Mood can be shown through various means such as story, character, actor's performance, implication or motive and cinematic presentation through audio and visual methods. Timing Having "good timing" or "keeping good time" is often something that comes naturally, or otherwise requires a long time to master. Timing can be broken down into three main Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. What Makes A Good Writer? The most important thing that a piece "good" writing does is make people question where they stand on certain topics. This is the most important thing because when you question things you learn more, and when learn more you will be able to teach more. When you read something you do not want to just read it and not learn anything from it, then there would have been no purpose in reading it. Writers do not just write papers so they can tell the reader what is right or wrong. They write to explain their theory, to make others understand where they are coming from and the logic behind them. A writer can accomplish composing a "good" piece of writing by making sure he has logical reasoning behind their statements, by making it noticeable when they transition into explaining another point, and when by not letting their personal feelings be put ahead of their logical reasons, and by making the reader question them. These are not only important for the author but it is also important for the reader. If a author does not have a logical reasoning behind his statements than the reader can not take it as a credible source and they will most likely not believe it. • 17. Analysis Of No Edit By Randy Cohen In his essay "No Edit", Randy Cohen, former writer of the New York Times' "Ethicist" column, addresses the issue of whether teachers should edit college–application essays for their students. Mr. Cohen, who is clearly in opposition, also offers a counterpoint to his opinion by including several statements from Jeffrey Brenzel, dean of undergraduate admissions at Yale. Mr. Brenzels' stance is firmly in the affirmative, "I would think it foolish of a student not to have an essay proofed for spelling, grammar and syntax by someone competent to do so. We are not looking to take the measure of writing ability, genius or cleverness. We simply want to know something about personal outlook and perspective–how a student sees things or what a...show more content... In the business world, these traits are often referred to as "soft assets", intangibles that add value above what can be easily quantified. Is the applicant shy, outgoing, a natural leader, is he or she responsible, creative, will the student be an asset to the campus community and even to the college itself; knowing something about a student's character can help the admissions board make a more informed decision. This brings me to my most grievous condemnation of editing and of Mr. Brenzels' assertion "...writing ability, genius and cleverness." are not being critiqued. The power of the written word, it is something I believe in; and having read an essay, I can not believe that anyone, even a college admission officer, could entirely separate their personal opinion of the essay from the academic worthiness of the student. Unlike oral traditions, the written word has stability, portability and permanence, the same piece of work may be read and reread exactly as it was first written. Writing allows us to make our thoughts visible to others; it gives us the ability to express and explain complex events, emotions, and situations. Words can wound, they can inspire, they can inflame a populace to revolution or assuage them to lasting peace; they give voice to those who would be silenced, preserve our fondest memories and offer the only true freedom some Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Becoming A Writer As Editor Anyone who has ventured into the wonderful and mesmerizing world of entrepreneurship understands that you learn as you go, even when you have had a good foundation and pre–existing knowledge in your field. Launching Queendom Magazine has afforded me the opportunity to learn thing that I would not have if I had solely a writer. It has also exposed me to more than I would have encountered before. In my function as Editor In Chief, I have been receiving countless articles from writers with varying writing skill sets and levels. Some of the pieces that I receive take my breath away, either because the writer and/or their message were amazing or because the piece's grammar was horrifying and the message unclear. Regardless, because I launched my magazine with the intention of helping skilled and novice writers get exposure, I work with what they give me as long as I can see their thought process. What I am finding across the board is that many writers are not aware of how to 'seal the deal' with their audience. As an author, all you have to do is craft an amazing book that keeps your reader hooked and wanting more of what you offer. As a blogger or any other writer who needs to grow their audience, retention is also a part of your game. So how do you grow and retain your audience? One major key is–ENGAGEMENT. Ask them questions. You wrote a piece that they read, right? Something about the title or you made them want to read it. They felt it would be interesting, it relates Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Live Theatre Analysis In high school I was able to perform in two school plays and attended a few live theatre shows as an adult; having the insight on both junctures permits me to express my experience and emotions of live theatre. I do not see or feel the same connection when viewing a film as I do with live theatre. Theatre is a relationship between the performers and a live audience. There is an invisible yet tangible energy that exude throughout the theatre, reaching the actors and audience. Both the performers and the audience bring their own energy, but once the two forms of energy meet up in the same space and intertwine then become a radiate experience. The interaction with the crowd sounds of low chatter and sight of the person's attire add to the excitement of being in a place that can make the magic happen. On the other hand, the performers bring their own set of anticipation and excitement to the opening night. The actors are tasked with bringing an illusion to reality for the audience. Once the actors hit the stage there must be a transformation that take place, now in real time they must become the character they are portraying and be convincing. • 20. Reflection Of Creative Writing It is my belief that through this class and the tools provided, that my growth as a writer has grown through leaps and bounds I would never have assumed possible. It is not so much the skill I refer to, although I would think skill has gone up in some levels as well, but more so the appreciation for the craft of writing itself. Intially, at the start of this class my sole goal was to further my understanding and appreciation of the writer's and books that I so love to read. Through further evaluation within the first week, a few other goals came to mind, of which were, making writing a habit, finishing what I start, stop second guess my writing skills and making effective use of detail and description. Through the use of the many articles, various reading materials, whether poems or short stories, and especially through the workshop, I feel I was able to really push myself to accomplishing these goals. I have thus far learned how important it is not to be skilled at writing per say, but to have the will to write, that poetry is as much about it's sound as it is about it's subject, just how important character development is, how the narration and point of view of a story is essential to the way the story is told, and just how much of a difference peer's critiques can make to your writing. Since before the beginning of this creative writing course, I have always struggled to find a point to writing. By this, I mean that I always felt that having great skill and talent was what was required to be a writer, let alone a great one. From this point, I felt there was no need to continue my writing as I felt that in a sense it just wasn't good enough. However, reading the article "A Way of Writing", I found new hope. Here was a writer who says things such as "I must be willing to fail. If I am to keep on writing, I cannot bother to insist on high standards. I must get into action and not let anything stop me, or even slow me much"(Stafford) and quotes that writers don't necessarily have any special talent. The article "Why I Write" instilled further optimism through the authors view on just being a writer, not focusing on being good or bad. I found her words in which she writes "entirely to find out what I'm Get more content on HelpWriting.net
