My Personal Reflection Of My Family
This twelve–month period of my life will be memorable. This year I want to focus on myself.
Personal improvement is being supportive with any of my family problems, being useful around the
house, little things that would help my family. I would like to become more closer to my dad in our
father– daughter relationship. Family and friends will be one of the biggest support systems you
will have, I will be more patient with my friends, I will learn how to take care of my family
through the hard times. School will get you far in life, it is the key to having a successful future.
I will work my personal best this semester and these next 3 years of school. Resolution for the

They will be your biggest and worst fans, for me I play sports and my parents will be my worst
critics and biggest fans. Family, I will help my family through hard times and be the daughter,
granddaughter, and big sister I know I can be towards my family to make them proud. Family
should be your main priority. I was raised to always put family first. I know I can always count on
my family because they know what I can do, which pushes me to the best of my ability, by
knowing I have a family who supports me. Friends that stay in your life forever will be there for
you through the hard times. My problem with being with friends for a long time, I tend to be
impatient with them. I want to care more for my family and friends, and to always be there for
them. My friends are always there for me and I want to be there for them in return. Caring for my
friends is being there at certain events that mean the most to them, and to be supportive friend and
comfort that they can have. Although, friends are not blood doesn't mean they're any less. Family
should always be there for you, just how friends

My Day With My Family
I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do
together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something
to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something
that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do
the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate
family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest
thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to
feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've
never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am
jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even
when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout
every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas".
Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating
and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect
life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I
believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both

Reflective Essay About My Family
Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the
perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket
fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and
unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the
person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and
society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to
unite as a family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are
chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My family has...show more content...
My dad was a great dad if he was not under the influence, but if he was under the influence he was
very abusive, physically and emotionally. My mother on the other hand, wants nothing but for me
to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter.
Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in
many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for myself, to not be afraid of things that may
frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think
about myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be
forever grateful that I have such a great mom.
Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own
person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own
person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they
behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice
for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the news and social media, all the hate
that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also
influenced the clothes I wear and music I listen

Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life
My family is my life
Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the
same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care
for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours
a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was
studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place
that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a
small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple
care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we
were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any
more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that
they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children
that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because
we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in
your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible
families and having opportunities that changed my life.
I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave.
My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good
daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that
my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it
to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told
me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a
shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I
can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important

My Family Traditions
My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am
talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start
the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing
Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my
grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas
meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my
cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented.
My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is
called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if
you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents.
Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin
reads the story every year.
When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go
from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got.
Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo.
She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We
have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been
doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on
these traditions.
I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that
my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in
the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren,
so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma
would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and
twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone

Essay on My Family
My Family My Family has always been a very important staple in my life, they come to all of my
sporting events and school activities to support me 100%. They are always there if I ever am in
trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm
down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and
my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never
forget. We have thanksgiving together, and all of my family comes out here for the 4th of July and
we have the best time. During the day we go out in the boat and things in the water and at night we

No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are
different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that
are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people
don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by
thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being
from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are
curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as
a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always
been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our
parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who
they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and
called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the
lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when
the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of
picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a

Descriptive Essay On My Family Picture
My family picture includes my Mom, Dad, younger sister, dog and myself. In the drawing, my
younger sister is reading outside under a tree in our backyard. My sister enjoys having time to
herself reading or listening to music over socializing at get–togethers. Likewise, my mom is
gardening in the backyard in the picture. She enjoys spending time outdoors and caring for the
garden to make our backyard look beautiful with the colourful plants and flowers. In my picture,
my dog is located in the backyard with my Mom and sister. My dog loves spending time outside
playing and prefers to have company then be left alone. In the picture, my Dad is taking a photo
of a waterfall in Costa Rica during a recent vacation. My Dad does not enjoy staying in one place
for an extended period of time and prefers to be out instead of relaxing on the weekends. He does
photography as a hobby and will search out to find picturesque locations to set up his camera
equipment and wait for the perfect lighting for a picture. In the family picture, I am in the kitchen,
which overlooks the backyard, baking banana bread. Similar to my sister, I prefer spending the time
to myself instead of socializing at get–togethers.
My family picture, upon first look appears to be a bright and colourful family picture but upon
analyzing with a critical eye, the picture portrays family dynamic and individuality. The Kinetic
Family Drawing (KFD) test can help provide insight on how a child views themselves and

The Story Of My Family
The story of my family is one that I do not tell often. Although my entire family may not be in
agreement at all ties, I know that there is a purpose for every single person in my family; there is
a reason that I have the ties I do. Each person and each event builds on the continuous story of my
life. Each new day is another chance to embark upon a journey that has the potential to change my
life forever. Every time I see my parents, I tell them that I love them. Life itself is so fragile, and
we never know what is in store for the future. When I think of my family narrative, I think of
courage, resilience, love, compassion, joy, difficulty, and many more emotions and reactions. This
is the story of my family as it relates to Marriage and Families today.
My parents were married on January 15, 1994. They have been married for 22 years now, and the
beginning of my family was signified on that day. My parents were married for 2 years before
having their first child. Twenty years later, I am still their only child. My mother's pregnancy with
me was filled with stress and unexpected turns. I was born prematurely at two pounds and twelve
ounces; an entire two months prematurely. My mom had to stay with me in the hospital for months
because I developed jaundice and other conditions that deteriorated my health. The problems did
not end there, however. I would love to believe that racism and colorism are not issues anymore, but
sadly they are even today. The sight of my pale skin led

My Expectations On My Family
Have you ever had high expectations that you have to live up to? My family has several
expectations for me. One is to continue with school so I can earn a proper education. The second
expectation they have for me is to follow their rules on my future relationships. Last hope from
them is for me to act and respect myself in an appropriate way. Therefore. There are several reasons
to my family's expectations.
The first expectation my family expects from me is to go to school and get a career. For instance,
my dad's expectation of school was that he had high hopes for me to go to a university, so I could
become a successful person in life. In other words, my mom's expectation was to graduate from high
school because she didn't want me to end up like her, for she didn't not have the privilege to finish
school. My parents pushed their expectation of a proper education because they were not as
fortunate to do so. Meanwhile, my grandma's expectation is for me to go to a university or a
college just like my other cousins. Since she compares my education to theirs, she tells me to be a
successful student in school and have a great career. She always told me as a child until now that I
have to become a doctor because doctors make a lot of money. However, I did not want to copy my
cousins, so I decided I would make my own choices in my career. Therefore, one day I will become a
teacher. So, their expectations pushed me to get all A's; as a result, I put school and education before

Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Cozy Home A home is a place where you have lived with your family for so long that it has, in
a sense, become a part of you. It can be a structure, a neighborhood, a state or a country. In my
case, when I think of home, I initially think of a building, my house. My home, however, is much
more than just a house to me. It is also the place where I am always sure to find those I love most,
my family. In a generation where there are so many broken homes, I am fortunate to live with
and be raised by two parents, who still love each other. I have two older sisters, Sabreena and
Trinity, and a dog, a poodle named Puffs. I live in a quaint, four bedroom house in a subdivision
called Steeplechase in Avondale, Louisiana. My house is a place of safety and refuge. My
neighborhood is full of friendly, familiar faces. I have been smiling, waiving and occasionally
talking to these friends and acquaintances since we moved here when I was just two years old.
Growing up in this environment has, I'm sure, contributed to certain character and personality traits,
which have made me who I am today. I am ultimately a trusting individual, who is both friendly and
hospitable. You can learn much about a person simply by walking through their home. For example,
if you walk through my house, you would instantly notice framed Bible verses, decorative crosses,
inspirational sayings and a trophy case, filled with different types of past accomplishments. In our
living room, there is a

My Family Structure
I grew up in a nuclear family. There are four people in my family, consists of my father, mother,
my sister and me. My father is 62 years old. He's working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10
years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me.
She quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother
daughter bond can grow stronger day by day by spending time with us. My sisters and I are four
years apart. She is currently studying in Tsun Jin Independent School. Even though we fought a lot

I am also aware of my role as a student, studying and doing the best I can to score in my exams so
that in the future I may provide a higher living standard to my family. For my sister, apart from also
being a student like myself, she basically carries the role of the helper at home. Unlike myself, she
spends a lot of time at home with mom while I'm out doing assignments and juggling college life.
By spending a lot of time at home, she spends more time with my mom, helping her with house
chores. With all these roles, comes rules as well, my parents have always given my sister and I
curfews. It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents
just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must
have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication
is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of
relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very
decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very
well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do.
My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and
myself. This is because of the hieratical

Narrative Essay About My Family
I grew up in a very normal family with a mom, dad, one brother and three sisters. Since I'm the
baby of the family, my mom stayed home until I started school. My mom worked in payroll and
accounting, and my dad was a computer engineer. My brother is the oldest and did his best to
tease all four younger sisters equally. He was very good at his "job", but I knew he loved me
because he opened doors for me and even braided my hair on occasion. My three older sisters
watched out for me, especially my oldest sister; she became my second mom. My sisters fought a
bit, but it wasn't anything horrible or abnormal. We were a pretty happy family that did a lot of fun
things together and were loved by our wonderful parents. At least that's what I remembered, but
there were times that I wondered if I was loved at all. Was I just the baby of five kids, five years
younger than my closest sibling, and easily forgotten? Around the age of seven, I was in school
and we were asked to write our full name. That seemed easy enough! Although, it was at that
moment I realized I had never been taught how to spell my middle name. I was young, but
embarrassed that I didn't know something so simple. Then at nine years old, my parents dropped
me off with my siblings at the local pool to enjoy a nice, cool swim in the hot Southern California
sunshine. My siblings excitedly jumped into the pool and began to splash and swim while I stood
at the edge feeling very afraid. My oldest sister came back to the

My Personal Experience Of My Family
For twenty years I have lived in my current family of origin. Since I have not yet left, I have no
other family with which to personally compare it. I was born into a rather small two–parent
household with my immediate family consisting of only me and my parents. While independent, we
all have close, personal relationships with each other. I feel I had a secure attachment style. I would
consider my family to be rather "standard" and "normal" and would certainly describe it as
traditional. Most of my grandparents, aunts, and uncles live in the same community as I do, or
within a short drive. My parents are in their late 40's and the age range of my entire family unit

Dad has always been the "handyman" of the house, fixing most issues around the house and
tending to most of the yard and outside work while mom has always been the "housekeeper,"
handling chores such as cleaning and cooking. I have always done my best to pitch in wherever
and whenever I was needed. While both my parents work to pay bills, dad has always handled most
of the actual paperwork. When I was younger, we shared holidays with both sides of my family
since we all live close to each other. However, since my great–grandparents are getting more feeble,
we now gather at their house on holidays and deliver meals to my paternal grandparents who find it
difficult to travel. For our leisure time, we enjoy spending time together and traveling.
Furthermore, my parents have been happily married for twenty–eight years. After dating for about
three years, they married when they were both nineteen and in college. They share beliefs and
values to a very large degree, have a high level of cognitive complexity, and hold comparable
standards in areas such as independence, control, power, and relationship investment (Bradbury
and Karney, 2014). None in my family, as far as I know, have ever lived together before marriage,
and every marriage that I am aware of has been supported by the family. The only slight exception
was my uncle's marriage. In addition to there being a

My Family History
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have
a better perspective of your life. Having a clear understanding of your family background allows you
to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and the
average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see
that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in life. A

One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey

house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor
Day weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually
spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After
all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto
Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer
vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never
joins because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we
speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of course that's not true though. My bother doesn't

mother and I.
The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little

A few months ago, at family prayer my grandfather was having trouble with his leg and he was
limping. My uncle decided to ask if we wanted to pray for him. All the kids got around my
grandpa, and we put our hands on him and we prayed about his leg. When he got up his leg was still
bugging him. After prayer my grandparents went home and went to bed. The next week, my
grandma told us that after we prayed last week, they went home and went to bed, but the next
morning he was walking perfectly, without a limp. That was one of the blessings that myfamily
experienced this past year.
The Spiritual discipline that has been most helpful in establishing my relationship with God is both
worship and prayer. I have already made prayer a part of my life. Every Tuesday my family gets
together and we have a family prayer. This includes my whole extended family. we all get
together and we pray. We pray about our family, our church, the kids, the youth, and everyone 's
separate families. It has had a great impact on my life. We started this family prayer thing a year
ago. We began it the first or second week of the year. This year with these family prayers and just
in general getting together with the family and praying a worshiping together has been such a
blessing. First because we are so much closer as a family. Our cousins, at least the older ones, almost
always go out and hang out after prayer. Some of the people i never even really talked to

My Family History Report
In the very beginning of the winter quarter, I always thought that answering the question or focusing
on the purpose of the essay was what makes a good writing. I was never interested in the writing
process and just saw essays as another assignment I needed to complete. However, throughout the
quarter with different writing assignments, I started to grow an attachment to writing. This was
possibly due to the central topic of the class was around migration/immigration. As a son coming
from parents who were international students, I found an interest and attachment discussing about
the topic of immigration and migration. MyWritingLab allowed for improvement on grammatical
errors and understanding concepts behind each written works. Writing resumes...show more content...
I have chosen these three assignments because I felt that it showed my progress as a writer during
the winter quarter of 2017. My choice in the Book Review over my Family History Narrative was
because of the oral assignment we had. Although the Family History Narrative was my first
assignment and an assignment I grew an attachment to, I felt that this assignment was meant to be
told as a story rather than a written assignment. The oral report allowed me to convey my thought as
well as the story behind it. I could not think of any better way of explaining my mother's story
unless it was done through an oral presentation. That is one reason why I chose the Book Review
over my Family History Narrative. Another reason is because I would like to improve on giving my
opinion on certain materials better, whether it is a book, film, music, food, and other activities that
require my opinion and review. The Close Reading is a proper demonstration of my analysis skills
that still needs further improvements. Analysis should not be half–hearted; therefore, analysis
should be through analyzing the whole text as you analyze the text quoted. Looking beyond the
explicit quote and looking at the implicit message left from the author is important for analyzing
text. The Research Paper is a culmination of all my writing assignments and progress. Although the
other writing assignments have been revised to the best of my ability, the Research Paper is what
ties in my ability to give opinion backed with research on a facility, and analyze multiple sources to
inform my audience about the facility my Research Paper focuses

I was born into a "happy" family that was actually a web of lies, which unfolded itself through a
divorce. My parents' marriage was based on the fact that my father needed a permanent residency
card to stay in the United States. Some people may view this as a devastating event; however I
have chosen to embrace being an American and a Ghanaian. Coming from two different
backgrounds was a challenge, because of the different values and morals each share. These
challenges have left me to understand my true purpose concerning my two cultures. I feel fortunate

Such as attending a public college or becoming President of the United States. Education has
therefore played an important role in my life and has been highly valued in my family.
While the expectations of my American and Ghanaian family members were so high, their
affirmation was not always there. As a child of divorced parents, my mother raised and supported
me. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully
dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we
didn't know where our next meal was coming from and had to rely on others. We moved several
times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my
mother's need to get us financially stable. Things improved, I remained committed to working
hard in school, and the expectations never changed. Education has brought me, given me, and

tools to work towards social justice. As many educators say, education is the key to success. I

My Family Heritage
Family Defined
The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably
considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have
become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book defines family
as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time
in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe,
Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the

father Ed was born on April 15, 1880 in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked as a claim agent for the Great
Northern Railroad in the twin cities. Olga was born on March 15, 1888 in Hawley, MN. She also
worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a matron. Edward was 100% Irish while Olga was 100%
Norwegian. This makes my grandma Lorraine 50% Irish & 50% Norwegian. My grandpa Bill was
adopted in Minneapolis so his genealogy is unknown. He was told by his adopted parents that he
was mostly Irish. If we pretended Bill was 100% Irish, this would make my mom 75% Irish and 25%
Norwegian.

Who I Am My Family? Essay
When I think about who I am in my family, I recall my experiences, good and bad, that has made
me who I am today. To begin with, my parents divorced when I was a toddler, so my family
consists of the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of drama, but I 'm sure
that all families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there
some secret sauce that makes up a functional family?
I have always been curious about how different my family and my life would've been if my
parents had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to
know my father or any of his family. Aside from my grandparents, mom 's side of the family is loud
and hateful. I 'm calm and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but anytime there's dissent, I
'm the mediator. I 've always been the release for my family's emotions, and mine is my grandparents.
My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time
when my family would often get–together at my aunt's house. They'd listen to music, play cards
(usually pinochle) and just have an enjoyable time in each others company. My cousin Danielle
had an attic bedroom. I can still smell the wood floors as I'd creak my way up the narrow staircase
that lead to her room. It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends
with her and I'd be left with my chin in my hand. She's seven years older than me,

My Family Essay
No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays
an important role in all my family's lives. In my family, there are four people: my father, my
mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible
for organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals
and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times. My little brother is the pet of the family. He
actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I
always go beyond my parents' expectations. I also support my younger cousins and little brother, by
being a role model that they can look up to. Another...show more content...
Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for
my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother.
As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing
advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of
his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent
approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then
asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to
anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get
out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to
get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I
also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in
a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my
cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and
activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I
am also known for being there

Essay On My Family

  • 1. My Personal Reflection Of My Family This twelve–month period of my life will be memorable. This year I want to focus on myself. Personal improvement is being supportive with any of my family problems, being useful around the house, little things that would help my family. I would like to become more closer to my dad in our father– daughter relationship. Family and friends will be one of the biggest support systems you will have, I will be more patient with my friends, I will learn how to take care of my family through the hard times. School will get you far in life, it is the key to having a successful future. I will work my personal best this semester and these next 3 years of school. Resolution for the Outside world is growing more as a person , by learning how to present myself around people and caring for others by being kind....show more content... They will be your biggest and worst fans, for me I play sports and my parents will be my worst critics and biggest fans. Family, I will help my family through hard times and be the daughter, granddaughter, and big sister I know I can be towards my family to make them proud. Family should be your main priority. I was raised to always put family first. I know I can always count on my family because they know what I can do, which pushes me to the best of my ability, by knowing I have a family who supports me. Friends that stay in your life forever will be there for you through the hard times. My problem with being with friends for a long time, I tend to be impatient with them. I want to care more for my family and friends, and to always be there for them. My friends are always there for me and I want to be there for them in return. Caring for my friends is being there at certain events that mean the most to them, and to be supportive friend and comfort that they can have. Although, friends are not blood doesn't mean they're any less. Family should always be there for you, just how friends Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Day With My Family I believe that I feel the most comfortable when I am home with my family. Any activity we do together is amazing. Whether it's watching a movie together, having dinner, or having something to talk about. There is always a time of the day where we just have a good laugh about something that happened throughout the day. I know my family will always be there for me and I will do the same for them. I believe that I am blessed to have such a loving, caring, and compassionate family. I believe when times are tough, my family is my true comfort. Even if it's the smallest thing like a headache or stomachache I feel better with just my mom doing anything for me to feel better. I don't need medicine to heal the smallest pains; all I need is my family's love. I've never looked at another family and thought, "wow they have an amazing relationship, i am jealous". Sometimes I do the opposite because I never had thought wrong about my family even when we're aggravated sometimes. I remember during the summer we would have a cookout every single Saturday and Sunday. We would all get together and have my dads "special asadas". Which are a special steak well done with allot of lime and spices. We would sit there for hours eating and having a beer. We would call close friends that we even call family. I believe there is no perfect life or perfect family. I believe my family will overcome anything that causes pain or misery. I believe that we are in full control of our own wellness, both Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Reflective Essay About My Family Everyone has a story of who they are and how they came to be. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. We all get along and know when it is time to unite as a family but at the same time the moment someone disagrees with one another, sides are chosen and it takes forever for us to make up. My family has...show more content... My dad was a great dad if he was not under the influence, but if he was under the influence he was very abusive, physically and emotionally. My mother on the other hand, wants nothing but for me to prosper in life and be happy. If I were to describe my mom with one word it would be, fighter. Everything my mother does is for the benefit of my brother and I. My mother has influenced me in many ways. She has taught me how to stand up for myself, to not be afraid of things that may frighten me, not to listen to what others have to say about me because in the long run, what I think about myself is all that matters. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be forever grateful that I have such a great mom. Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice for those who are too scared to share theirs. I see all over the news and social media, all the hate that goes on in the world just because someone is a little different then them. Society has also influenced the clothes I wear and music I listen Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Narrative Essay : My Family Is My Life My family is my life Life becomes more meaningful when you realize the simple life fact that you will never get the same moment twice. I had lived with my parents until I was 12 years old, but they could not care for me anymore, because they are working in a factory in Juarez for more than six or eight hours a day. They did not like the idea that my sister and I would stay alone, because my older sister was studying at high school and I was studying at elementary school. When looking for a good place that we may stay, after days of searching they found Centro Victoria de NiГ±os Vida en Jesus,a small place but an amazing and comfortable place in Juarez. In this is a place a married couple care for many girls and boys of the same ages as me. Our parents explained the difficult situation we were going through. They told us that it hurt them a lot to leave us, but that they did not have any more options. The reality was that we did not have family in Juarez at the time. They told us that they found an amazing place and small place where we can stay just during the week. All children that have a family can have a chance to go to the home. My sister and I agreed to live there because we did not want to be alone. The first two weeks were very sad to feel that you no longer live in your house, but in this place, we are learning to be good people, get a chance to have two incredible families and having opportunities that changed my life. I loved the way my tutors taught us when we started living in this place. I learned how to behave. My tutors became like my parents. When I was staying in my house, I knew that I was not a good daughter and I had many bad habits like the way I eat and my sleeping habits. It was obvious that my parents did not see things as I did, and thus my tutor talked to me about things that I needed it to change. They explained that this it was not easy, but if I persevere, it will work out as they told me and that people never stop learning. I learned to like other children, to eat, to sleep, to take a shower at the right time. I also learned trust to myself, and be honest. Also, I learned that if I fall, I can stand up because people learn from their mistakes. The last but the most important Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Family Traditions My family has a lot of different traditions, but one stands out more than the others. The holiday I am talking about is Christmas. My family has always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. We start the celebration by going to our church's Christmas Eve service. During this service, we sing Christmas songs and watch a video of the first Christmas. After the service, all my family goes to my grandparents' house to open presents and have supper. The meal is different than most Christmas meals. All of my family members bring an appetizer instead of bringing a main dish. One of my cousins is Haitian and one of uncles is Italian, so we have a lot of different cultures represented. My favorite is my uncle's meatballs. Once we eat we have two different places to sit. One is called the kids' room and the other is the adult room. You are supposed to sit at the kids' table if you are not married. Once we have finished eating we all head to the living room to open presents. Before we open presents, one of my younger cousins reads a Christmas poem. A different cousin reads the story every year. When it is finally time to open presents, we always open them one person at a time and always go from youngest to oldest. We go one at a time because my grandma likes to see what everyone got. Once everyone has opened their presents, my grandma tries to recruit some people to play bingo. She likes being the person who calls out the numbers because that's what her mom always did. We have been doing all of these things for as long as I can remember. My dad says they have been doing things this way for the last 40 years. My grandma is the main person that has been carrying on these traditions. I would say my grandmother is the glue to our family so everyone follows her lead. I think that my other family members are so used to doing these things that they will continue to do them in the future. I would say I am a participant in this tradition. I am one of the younger grandchildren, so I do not say much or try to change anything. If I did offer a new idea, I do think my grandma would consider it. My whole family takes part in this tradition. I have six aunts and uncles and twelve cousins, so my family is pretty big. Everyone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They are always there if I ever am in trouble or in need of help, they can do whatever I need. If I need a talking to and I need to calm down and focus they can do that for me. Then there are the times that I have with my brothers and my other family and we have a lot of fun, memories that you share with your family you will never forget. No name, no face to put with him, heck I don't even know if I look like him. My family and I are different, there are families that don't share the same situation as having four adopted kids that are all spread apart in age. Yet my family and I push through that and we look past that, people don't understand they think that coming from different parents would divide us kids by thinking, "hey, you aren't my real brother " That kind of thing does not happen, if anything being from different parents brings us together because we are so different from each other we are curious to learn about each other. Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my brothers. Growing up in a large family there will always be troubles and when the ages are so far apart there will always be growing pains. Being adopted they have the choice of picking kids that are farther apart from each other which means that we are all in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Descriptive Essay On My Family Picture My family picture includes my Mom, Dad, younger sister, dog and myself. In the drawing, my younger sister is reading outside under a tree in our backyard. My sister enjoys having time to herself reading or listening to music over socializing at get–togethers. Likewise, my mom is gardening in the backyard in the picture. She enjoys spending time outdoors and caring for the garden to make our backyard look beautiful with the colourful plants and flowers. In my picture, my dog is located in the backyard with my Mom and sister. My dog loves spending time outside playing and prefers to have company then be left alone. In the picture, my Dad is taking a photo of a waterfall in Costa Rica during a recent vacation. My Dad does not enjoy staying in one place for an extended period of time and prefers to be out instead of relaxing on the weekends. He does photography as a hobby and will search out to find picturesque locations to set up his camera equipment and wait for the perfect lighting for a picture. In the family picture, I am in the kitchen, which overlooks the backyard, baking banana bread. Similar to my sister, I prefer spending the time to myself instead of socializing at get–togethers. My family picture, upon first look appears to be a bright and colourful family picture but upon analyzing with a critical eye, the picture portrays family dynamic and individuality. • 8. The Story Of My Family The story of my family is one that I do not tell often. Although my entire family may not be in agreement at all ties, I know that there is a purpose for every single person in my family; there is a reason that I have the ties I do. Each person and each event builds on the continuous story of my life. Each new day is another chance to embark upon a journey that has the potential to change my life forever. Every time I see my parents, I tell them that I love them. Life itself is so fragile, and we never know what is in store for the future. When I think of my family narrative, I think of courage, resilience, love, compassion, joy, difficulty, and many more emotions and reactions. This is the story of my family as it relates to Marriage and Families today. My parents were married on January 15, 1994. They have been married for 22 years now, and the beginning of my family was signified on that day. My parents were married for 2 years before having their first child. Twenty years later, I am still their only child. My mother's pregnancy with me was filled with stress and unexpected turns. I was born prematurely at two pounds and twelve ounces; an entire two months prematurely. My mom had to stay with me in the hospital for months because I developed jaundice and other conditions that deteriorated my health. The problems did not end there, however. I would love to believe that racism and colorism are not issues anymore, but sadly they are even today. The sight of my pale skin led Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Expectations On My Family Have you ever had high expectations that you have to live up to? My family has several expectations for me. One is to continue with school so I can earn a proper education. The second expectation they have for me is to follow their rules on my future relationships. Last hope from them is for me to act and respect myself in an appropriate way. Therefore. There are several reasons to my family's expectations. The first expectation my family expects from me is to go to school and get a career. For instance, my dad's expectation of school was that he had high hopes for me to go to a university, so I could become a successful person in life. In other words, my mom's expectation was to graduate from high school because she didn't want me to end up like her, for she didn't not have the privilege to finish school. My parents pushed their expectation of a proper education because they were not as fortunate to do so. Meanwhile, my grandma's expectation is for me to go to a university or a college just like my other cousins. Since she compares my education to theirs, she tells me to be a successful student in school and have a great career. She always told me as a child until now that I have to become a doctor because doctors make a lot of money. However, I did not want to copy my cousins, so I decided I would make my own choices in my career. Therefore, one day I will become a teacher. So, their expectations pushed me to get all A's; as a result, I put school and education before Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Descriptive Essay About My Family My Cozy Home A home is a place where you have lived with your family for so long that it has, in a sense, become a part of you. It can be a structure, a neighborhood, a state or a country. In my case, when I think of home, I initially think of a building, my house. My home, however, is much more than just a house to me. It is also the place where I am always sure to find those I love most, my family. In a generation where there are so many broken homes, I am fortunate to live with and be raised by two parents, who still love each other. I have two older sisters, Sabreena and Trinity, and a dog, a poodle named Puffs. I live in a quaint, four bedroom house in a subdivision called Steeplechase in Avondale, Louisiana. My house is a place of safety and refuge. My neighborhood is full of friendly, familiar faces. I have been smiling, waiving and occasionally talking to these friends and acquaintances since we moved here when I was just two years old. Growing up in this environment has, I'm sure, contributed to certain character and personality traits, which have made me who I am today. I am ultimately a trusting individual, who is both friendly and hospitable. You can learn much about a person simply by walking through their home. For example, if you walk through my house, you would instantly notice framed Bible verses, decorative crosses, inspirational sayings and a trophy case, filled with different types of past accomplishments. By spending a lot of time at home, she spends more time with my mom, helping her with house chores. With all these roles, comes rules as well, my parents have always given my sister and I curfews. It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do. My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and myself. • 12. Narrative Essay About My Family I grew up in a very normal family with a mom, dad, one brother and three sisters. Since I'm the baby of the family, my mom stayed home until I started school. My mom worked in payroll and accounting, and my dad was a computer engineer. My brother is the oldest and did his best to tease all four younger sisters equally. He was very good at his "job", but I knew he loved me because he opened doors for me and even braided my hair on occasion. My three older sisters watched out for me, especially my oldest sister; she became my second mom. My sisters fought a bit, but it wasn't anything horrible or abnormal. We were a pretty happy family that did a lot of fun things together and were loved by our wonderful parents. At least that's what I remembered, but there were times that I wondered if I was loved at all. Was I just the baby of five kids, five years younger than my closest sibling, and easily forgotten? Around the age of seven, I was in school and we were asked to write our full name. That seemed easy enough! Although, it was at that moment I realized I had never been taught how to spell my middle name. I was young, but embarrassed that I didn't know something so simple. Then at nine years old, my parents dropped me off with my siblings at the local pool to enjoy a nice, cool swim in the hot Southern California sunshine. My siblings excitedly jumped into the pool and began to splash and swim while I stood at the edge feeling very afraid. My oldest sister came back to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Personal Experience Of My Family For twenty years I have lived in my current family of origin. Since I have not yet left, I have no other family with which to personally compare it. I was born into a rather small two–parent household with my immediate family consisting of only me and my parents. While independent, we all have close, personal relationships with each other. I feel I had a secure attachment style. I would consider my family to be rather "standard" and "normal" and would certainly describe it as traditional. Most of my grandparents, aunts, and uncles live in the same community as I do, or within a short drive. My parents are in their late 40's and the age range of my entire family unit ranges from twelve to...show more content... Dad has always been the "handyman" of the house, fixing most issues around the house and tending to most of the yard and outside work while mom has always been the "housekeeper," handling chores such as cleaning and cooking. I have always done my best to pitch in wherever and whenever I was needed. While both my parents work to pay bills, dad has always handled most of the actual paperwork. When I was younger, we shared holidays with both sides of my family since we all live close to each other. However, since my great–grandparents are getting more feeble, we now gather at their house on holidays and deliver meals to my paternal grandparents who find it difficult to travel. For our leisure time, we enjoy spending time together and traveling. Furthermore, my parents have been happily married for twenty–eight years. After dating for about three years, they married when they were both nineteen and in college. They share beliefs and values to a very large degree, have a high level of cognitive complexity, and hold comparable standards in areas such as independence, control, power, and relationship investment (Bradbury and Karney, 2014). None in my family, as far as I know, have ever lived together before marriage, and every marriage that I am aware of has been supported by the family. The only slight exception was my uncle's marriage. In addition to there being a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Personal Narrative Essay Personal Narrative Essay: Dianna Belous A few months ago, at family prayer my grandfather was having trouble with his leg and he was limping. My uncle decided to ask if we wanted to pray for him. All the kids got around my grandpa, and we put our hands on him and we prayed about his leg. When he got up his leg was still bugging him. After prayer my grandparents went home and went to bed. The next week, my grandma told us that after we prayed last week, they went home and went to bed, but the next morning he was walking perfectly, without a limp. That was one of the blessings that myfamily experienced this past year. The Spiritual discipline that has been most helpful in establishing my relationship with God is both worship and prayer. I have already made prayer a part of my life. Every Tuesday my family gets together and we have a family prayer. This includes my whole extended family. we all get together and we pray. We pray about our family, our church, the kids, the youth, and everyone 's separate families. It has had a great impact on my life. We started this family prayer thing a year ago. We began it the first or second week of the year. This year with these family prayers and just in general getting together with the family and praying a worshiping together has been such a blessing. First because we are so much closer as a family. Our cousins, at least the older ones, almost always go out and hang out after prayer. I was never interested in the writing process and just saw essays as another assignment I needed to complete. This was possibly due to the central topic of the class was around migration/immigration. I have chosen these three assignments because I felt that it showed my progress as a writer during the winter quarter of 2017. My choice in the Book Review over my Family History Narrative was because of the oral assignment we had. Although the Family History Narrative was my first assignment and an assignment I grew an attachment to, I felt that this assignment was meant to be told as a story rather than a written assignment. The oral report allowed me to convey my thought as well as the story behind it. I could not think of any better way of explaining my mother's story unless it was done through an oral presentation. That is one reason why I chose the Book Review over my Family History Narrative. Another reason is because I would like to improve on giving my opinion on certain materials better, whether it is a book, film, music, food, and other activities that require my opinion and review. The Close Reading is a proper demonstration of my analysis skills that still needs further improvements. Analysis should not be half–hearted; therefore, analysis should be through analyzing the whole text as you analyze the text quoted. Looking beyond the explicit quote and looking at the implicit message left from the author is important for analyzing text. The Research Paper is a culmination of all my writing assignments and progress. My parents' marriage was based on the fact that my father needed a permanent residency card to stay in the United States. My father was always there mentally, emotionally, and physically, but I was financially fully dependent on my mother. Although she had an education, we still struggled. Sometimes we didn't know where our next meal was coming from and had to rely on others. We moved several times while I was growing up and at times, I would be left at a relative's house because of my mother's need to get us financially stable. • 19. Who I Am My Family? Essay When I think about who I am in my family, I recall my experiences, good and bad, that has made me who I am today. To begin with, my parents divorced when I was a toddler, so my family consists of the maternal side of the tree; they're too loud, too proud, and full of drama, but I 'm sure that all families have brown spots–don't they? When is a family considered dysfunctional? Is there some secret sauce that makes up a functional family? I have always been curious about how different my family and my life would've been if my parents had a better marriage. I was only three when they divorced, so I missed the opportunity to know my father or any of his family. Aside from my grandparents, mom 's side of the family is loud and hateful. I 'm calm and don't enjoy being around draining negativity, but anytime there's dissent, I 'm the mediator. I 've always been the release for my family's emotions, and mine is my grandparents. My grandparents have four children: my two uncles, my aunt, and my mother. I remember a time when my family would often get–together at my aunt's house. They'd listen to music, play cards (usually pinochle) and just have an enjoyable time in each others company. My cousin Danielle had an attic bedroom. I can still smell the wood floors as I'd creak my way up the narrow staircase that lead to her room. It seemed like every time we visited, she 'd always have one of her friends with her and I'd be left with my chin in my hand. She's seven years older than me, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
