- Mobile users are growing at a rapid rate. With more and more users choosing to browse the web via their smartphones, a plan of action is necessary.
- Tablets are growing in a similar fashion, outselling laptops, with no end in sight.
- Website design is now considering mobile site design first, before desktop site consideration. Mobile website design is different from desktop design in that everything from navigation to content needs to be fitted for smaller screens, different browsers, touch capabilities and more.
- There is some great technology available right now to help in implementing a mobile site. User Agent Detection, for instance, allows servers to automatically determine if a user is visiting your site from a mobile device instead of a desktop computer.
- Here is a great example of what a good mobile site can look like.
- Take note to how the screen cuts out the image and text in this Gatorade mobile app. This would be a bad mobile site.
- The worst mobile site of all would be not having one…
- My first recommendation for 1-800-Charity Cars would be to have mobile application designed. It can be a very simple application meant to make donating a car fast and easy on the go. Mobile applications also can generate advertising income for the company.
- The second recommendation, and probably the most important, is to create a user-friendly mobile website. This mobile website wont have most of the extensive content found on the main website. Instead, this mobile website will be designed to quickly inform clients on the benefits of donating their car, a quick donation form, and the option to call directly from the mobile website.
- In Conclusion: Mobile sites are the future of the internet, and this rising rate of mobile users will only continue to increase over time. It is important to establish a mobile presence now, and lower the amount of missed consumer opportunities.
