2. Genre My genre is horror which is a genre which is designed to invoke our hidden worst fears, caught dread and alarm and frighten and panic us. I think my teaser trailer frightens the audience with the help of lighting. I studio lit most of my shots to create various shadows that get bigger during the trailer. Shadows are a common convention in horror trailers. Used to emphasize the dangerous weapon and make the audience frightened.
3. Editing In horror trailers such as Nightmare on Elm Street, they used a shot which was in slow motion, thus fulfilling the genre because it adds drama and intensity. In addition, I used this in my trailer which I built up using similar shots of a character running. This emphasizes the danger they are in and the drama helps the audience to feel the experience with her. I shot this from a low angle so when the character moves the knife, it comes towards the audience, which are placed in the position of her victim. This angle also emphasizes her strength in doing what she’s doing and she is a strong character.
4. Inter Titles I downloaded this font because it resembled my favorite bands (Evanescence) font for their name. It is very sharp, and the O’s look like owls eyes Therefore, it is a typical font of the gothic genre.
5. Props Knifes and sharp weapons are very common in horror films such as their reappearance in Halloween and the knife features as a trap in Saw. I have used various clocks in my trailer because I want to emphasize the time limit my protagonist has to complete her murderous tasks. This is influenced by Saw when Jigsaw has specific times his victims must abide by.
