Protein isolation and separation by gel filtration, use of a haemocytometer, microscopic
investigation, aseptic technique, bacterial isolation and cultivation.
ELISA, immunoassays, spectroscopy, enzyme assays,protein purification, gene cloning, gas
chromatography, HPLC and microscopy.
Well versed in sterile microbiological techniques allowing for maintenance and growth of
bacterial, mammalian, and yeast cell cultures, western blot analysis, agarose gel
electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE. These were all key skills I had to utilise for my degree.
Final Year Research Project. Title “designer sophorolipid production by candida
bombicola, using and comparing the effects of different carbon sources and the sophorolipids
potential antimicrobial activity. This required me to pay attention to detail and work
methodically with regards to health and safety regulations in order to achieve accurate results.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
October2015- February 2016 - biomedical factory floor operative.
Duties include adhering to SOP’s for different duties,
Basic understanding of SAP.
Strong understanding of computer software including BDocs, excel etc.
Practiced gowning and hygiene procedures daily.
Worked in a cleanroom environment
Became highly adaptable in different environments every day.
hands on experience with each different product produced by Braun,
follow to health and safety regulations,
Worked with and communicated with many different people.
Met specific quotas by the end of the day.
Strong time keeping skills developed.
2015 – June-July film set makeup artist.
Duties included creating special effects makeup to the expectations of the director. Working with
different people from variable cultures and maintain a strong line of communication at all times.
2012 – 2015 MS centre volunteer.
Duties include raising awareness of fundraisers, assisting patients in and out of the centre,
communicating with different people throughout the day.
2010– 2013 stable yard supervisor and horse trainer.
Duties included working to a scheduled routine of exercising and caring for horses, Assisting
customers and potential customers, Managing a team of 6, Managing paperwork.
Skills:
Research Dissertation – Researched both in paper journals and on the internet and library based
research.
Teamwork - I successfully undertook various team projects and group presentations during college.
Communication – Oral communication skills expressed in presentations and speaking to the general
public, during my first year in Liberties College I was student representative where I had to listen to
students issues and ideas and effectively communicate them during meetings. Writing skills were
developed by essay writing during leaving cert where I took honours English. My degree course has
greatly enhanced my written and verbal communication skills due to many presentations,
assignments, posters, essays,lab reports, and projects required.
Willingness to learn – I am very keen to develop my understanding and acquire new skills through
employment.
Problem solving – I have the ability to problem solve, tested with continuous problem solving
exercises given as assessments,which may require mathematical analysis and evaluation.
Computer skills – Knowledge and experience of windows 7, Windows 8, MS word, Excel,
PowerPoint, using email and the internet.
