In the past when classical musicians wanted to reach new audiences, they would play in parks and shopping malls. Today, young people are more often socializing online in virtual worlds like Second Life. Podcasting and streaming music online is nothing new — but listening to a podcast or streamed concert online is a solitary event. Learn how this dynamic changes in the social context of a live streaming event within Second Life - with synchronous communications and immediate access to performers. Taking classical music to the virtual park will show you what is happening in Second Life, cover the basics of music streaming into virtual reality, talk about who is performing in virtual reality and highlight the value-added benefits for musicians, audience and music educators. Creative Bedfordshire October networking has a focus on Creating Relationships. We will hear short 5 Minute talks on the subject from 3 viewpoints. The evening also includes a chance to shout-out about your own work and needs, and to chat informally. If you work in the arts, run a creative business, are a freelance artist, actor, producer, maker or musician (or commission them), or are just curious, this network is for you. Creative Bedfordshire monthly events take place across Bedfordshire. Creative Networking is delivered by Bedford Creative Arts and is free of charge to attend thanks to the support of Central Bedfordshire Council and Bedford Borough Council.

Taking a break from our usual Bedford locations, this month we are bringing creative networking to Sharnbrook. Our more rural location will be accompanied by a focus on RURAL BUSINESS. We will have inspiration from Harrold based artist Jo Atherton, who sees no boundaries in going further afield with her work. Teresa Bellmaine will give us an introduction to WiRE Bedfordshire (Women in Rural Business Bedfordshire) And as a group, we will have a frank conversation about the issues and needs of creative business in rural areas. The event is an opportunity to chat with other creatives and includes a chance to shout-out about your own work and needs.

An international festival showcasing sacred art forms from India and around the world. The festival will showcase performers like Leela Samson (Dance - Bharatnatyam), Chirgilchin (Music - Tuvan Throat Singing), Madhup Mudgal (Music - Bhakti Raas), Al-Kindi Ensemble (Dance - Whirling Dervishes) and many more. Monks from the Likir Monastery in Ladakh will be creating a Sand Mandala. The festival will also feature eminent speakers from Yale University, The Shruti Foundation, Hong Kong University and Banaras Hindu University among others, who will talk on subjects dealing with sacred beliefs and rituals and their incorporation into sounds, music, art and dance. There will also be a film festival hosted by Jamia Millia Islamia which will explore the theme of the sacred in documentary films on Sufism, Kabir, Umm Kulthum and more. In addition to this, workshops on exploring Dance Therapy, African Djembe Drumming, Middle Eastern Musical Instruments have also been organized. Finally, after the festival is seemingly over, authentic live performances at places of worship will unfold in an evening of Sufi music at the Nizamuddin Dargah, an all night Kuddiyattam performance at the Ayyappa Temple, R.K Puram, Gospel Music at St. James\' Church, Kashmiri Gate and many more.
