2. Greek Art As you look at the images of Greek art, look for any recurring motifs A recurring motif is a subject, a figure, a theme, an idea, a shape, a colour scheme or a pattern that is used again and again. For example on this pot you can see patterns and figures who seem to be soldiers playing a board game. The colours are black and reddish brown. Look out for similar patterns , pictures of soldiers , black and reddish brown or images of games in the next few slides.
24. Artist’s Sketchbook The long lost sketchbook of Jeanne Magnin A lady called Tara Bradford found a little plain brown paper bundle at a brocante, (a second hand shop) in Paris, which turned out to be a sketchbook full of gorgeous designs of Egyptian, Roman, and Greek styles, collected in 1916-1917 by the French painter, collector, and art critic Jeanne Magnin.
25. Artist’s Sketchbook In true ornamentalist fashion, Jeanne Magnin collected borders and motifs from her travels, and documented them in beautifully drawn and composed pages.
27. Artist’s Sketchbook In your sketch book make some drawings of different motifs of Greek Art. You can look in the books about Ancient Greece or look at this powerpoint again on the laptops. You will find it in Ms Hayes folder in Grade 4 Student Folders.
