LSC BASKETBALL
The Angelo State men are the lone unbeaten team in Lone Star Conference action. The Rams are 17-1 overall
and 5-0 in league play with a program-record 12-game winning streak.
West Texas A&M and Cameron are tied atop the women’s standings with identical 6-1 LSC records.
This week’s schedule includes five LSC contests for the men, and six on the women’s side along with non-
conference action.
The LSC men have a 98-49 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-7 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 81-71 overall. The women’s squads are currently 13-17 combined against the Heartland,
and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason
tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic
qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set
for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
TaShawn Mabry, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Rocky Mount, NC, Rocky Mount HS
Mabry recorded the best offensive week of the season for No. 15 Tarleton State as the senior led the Texans to
a pair of wins over West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. Mabry’s week started Wednesday night when he
poured in 12 points over the final nine minutes to lift TSU past West Texas A&M in Wisdom Gym. He finished
with a season-high 23 points on 6-11 shooting from the floor with eight rebounds and three assists. Mabry
followed up his heroic efforts while a career-best effort Saturday at ENMU. He scored a career high 31 points
on 13-19 shooting from the floor. He became the 17th Texan to score at least 31 points in a game in the 27-year
tenure of head coach Lonn Reisman. For the week, he scored 54 points for an average of 27.0 points per game
to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Demario Mayfield, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Royston, Georgia, Franklin County
Mayfield averaged 9.0 rebounds and 15 points per game as the Rams shutdown Midwestern State and Cameron
in a pair of defensive-oriented wins by the Rams. Mayfield and the Rams limited MSU to 55 points and 33
percent shooting, while the Aggies were limited to 57 points and did not score in the final five minutes of play.
The senior recorded his seventh double-double of the season against MSU with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
He also finished the week with four steals and six assists. Mayfield leads the Rams with 16.3 points and 7.6
rebounds per game this season and has 33 steals.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, SO, Guard, Amarillo, Texas, Palo Duro HS
Watson averaged 13.0 points and 6.67 assists per game in the Lady Buffs’ three wins this week running their
winning streak to six games. She was 14 of 23 from the field for a 60.9 clip and dished out 20 assists including
her first double-double with 12 points and 10 assists against Texas A&M-Commerce. Watson scored 19 points
in the Lady Buffs’ thrilling 87-86 overtime victory at Tarleton State where she also had a career-high seven
rebounds. She had 20 of the team’s 57 assists for the week.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Andrea Carter, Midwestern State University, SR, Forward, Angleton, Texas, Angleton HS
Carter notched her seventh double-double of the season Wednesday and then went for 15 points, seven
rebounds and a season-high seven steals Saturday to key a pair of strong defensive efforts for Midwestern State
in wins over Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The senior forward from Angleton finished with 14 points,
14 rebounds, one blocked and one steal while helping the Mustangs limit Rambelles to 41.5-percent shooting
in a 69-61 win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. MSU then held Texas A&M-Kingsville to 39.1-percent shooting from the
floor in a 66-53 victory over the Javelinas.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, continues to light up the stat sheet for the Buffs after
averaging 23.5 points in two games last week. He scored 26 points at Tarleton State on Wednesday before
adding 21 in a one-point loss at home to Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday. Chavlovich has now put up at least
20 points in six contests during his freshman campaign. For the week, he shot .429 from the field, .375 from
beyond the arc, and 1.000 from the charity stripe.
John Gilliam, Eastern New Mexico University, paced the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball
team with 17 points per game, last week against a pair of regionally-ranked opponents. He shot .529 from
the floor and scored 20 points against Tarleton State, just days after a 14-point performance at Texas A&M-
Kingsville.
Chris Jones, Angelo State University, continued his strong play last week by averaging 14.5 points and 4.5
rebounds per game along with having seven assists and four steals in wins over Midwestern State and Cameron.

Jones led the Rams with 18 points against the Aggies. Jones is averaging 15.1 points per game and leads the
Rams and the conference with 95 assists and 52 steals.
Damion Clemons, Tarleton State University, gave the Texans a dominant defensive presence off the bench
for No. 15 Tarleton State last week as the senior lifted Tarleton State past West Texas A&M and Eastern New
Mexico. For the week, he totaled 10 boards and three blocks in 21.5 minutes per game off the Texan bench,
including a seven-rebound, two-block effort against the Greyhounds Saturday. Clemons and the Tarleton
defense held their opponents to just 67.5 points per game last week.
Miles Gatewood, West Texas A&M University, grabbed eight defensive rebounds and 10 total, to go along
with seven assists and six steals, in two games last week at Tarleton State and at home against Texas A&M-
Commerce.
Chris Wyms, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in an outstanding defensive performance for the
Greyhounds against a pair of regionally-ranked opponents, last week. He registered a combined seven steals
against Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State, which accounted for nearly half of Eastern’s steals for the
week. Wyms also scored eight points in each contest.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brandi Leal, Cameron University, paced Cameron’s scoring effort in their two wins this last week against
Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. She shot 46.4 percent from the field and knocked down 12 three-
pointers scoring 20 points against TAMUK and 18 at ASU. In both games she knocked six triples, which was one
away from matching a CU program high. For the season she is near the top in the nation averaging 3.8 three
pointers a game and 40 percent from the arc.
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton State University, had a breakout performance for Tarleton State last week, highlighted
with a career day against Eastern New Mexico Saturday. The sophomore transfer started the week with her first
double-figure scoring effort against No. 10 West Texas A&M and built on it in a big way by shooting 8-9 from
the floor, including 5-6 from downtown en route to a 21-point performance against the Zias. For the week,
Wipff led the TexAnns with a .611 shooting percentage from the floor on 11-18 shooting to go along with 5-10
shooting from downtown and 4-4 at the charity stripe. She also added 31 points for a 15.5 scoring average to
go along with three rebounds, two assists, a block and three steals for the week.
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University - Commerce, had her breakout game against West Texas A&M, setting
a career-high 22 points on a highly efficient 10 of 13 shooting while also leading the Lions in rebounding with
six. The 22-point performance was the second highest point-total scored by a Lion this season. Throughout the
week, the freshman forward has been supremely effective at scoring with accuracy, going 13 of 20 from the
field (65 percent) while being flawless from both the charity stripe and three-point land (2-2 in each).
Diamalises Rivera, Angelo State University, scored a career-high 23 points against Cameron this past Saturday.
Rivera’s season-high 23 points came on 7 of 11 shooting and nine free throws. It is the first 20-point game of the
season for the junior. She is averaging 6.7 points per game. Rivera has three games in double figures with two
coming in the last three games.
Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, helped the Pioneers to 1-1 record with a team-best 14.0 points
per game and 4.0 assists per game. She also cleared 4.5 rebounds per game and shot 40.9 percent from the
floor including 60.0 percent from the three-point range. Saygo came off the bench in both games and scored
16 points in the win against Eastern New Mexico and a team-high 12 points at #10 West Texas A&M.
Dianna Jones, Midwestern State University, returned from injury to average 13.5 points and 5.5 assists per
game while shooting 77.8 percent from the field to lead Midwestern State to a pair of Lone Star Conference
wins over Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The senior from Hewitt connected on 4-of-5 shots fro the
field and went 6-of-8 from the line to drop in a team-high 14 points in 23 minutes Wednesday against Angelo
State. Jones then hit on 3-of-4 shots from the field while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line while
dishing out a season-high nine assists Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Jones has scored at least 10 points in
each of her last 16 appearances and leads the Mustangs in scoring with 14 points per game.
Ruby Robertson, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, averaged 13.0 ppg off the bench in two games. She made
8-of-11 (72.7%) from the field including her lone three-point attempt and was a perfect 9-for-9 at the free
throw line. Robertson shot 4-of-5, 1-for-1 from long distance and made four free throws at Cameron. Against
Midwestern State, she went 4-for-6 from the field and hit five charity stripe shots while recording two steals.
Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, shot over 40 percent and averaged 11 points over three
games last week, which all took place within four days. Against Tarleton State, she registered her second
20-point game of the season. Stinnett also grabbed 11 rebounds, which included six of the offensive variety.
Tori Tucker, Eastern New Mexico University, led the Zias in scoring (13 points/game), rebounding (6.7/game)
and three-point percentage (.583) over a four-day stretch. Her 18 defensive rebounds prevented the opposition
for getting too many second chances and she contributed one of Eastern’s three blocked shots along with a pair
of steals. Tucker had 20 points and five rebounds as the Zias rallied from an 11-point deficit, to nearly claim a
road win over Texas Woman’s.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, averaged a double-double for the second straight week for Tarleton
State against No. 10 West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. The sophomore averaged 12 points per game
and 10 rebounds, including a 12-point and 13-rebound effort against the Zias Saturday. For the week, Iwobi
shot .476 from the floor and was a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line.
Chontiquah White, West Texas A&M University, continued to be a force in the middle as she led the team in
scoring at 17.7 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game in the Lady Buffs’ three wins this past week. White
tallied a team-high eight offensive rebounds and 10 defensive stops for the week. She was 16 of 37 from the
field and stepped out and hit 4 of 8 triples. She was 17 of 21 from the line and scored a season-high 27 points
Sunday against Texas Woman’s.
Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, averaged 13.0 points and a team-best 8.5 rebounds to help the
Pioneers to 1-1 record last week. She hit a three-point shot with 11 seconds left in regulation and recorded
her third double-double (20 pts and 10 rebs) of the season in a 63-61 win over Eastern New Mexico. Spector
then added six points and a team-best seven rebounds at #10 West Texas A&M. On the season she is the team
leader in scoring (11.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg).

Lauren Jay, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, had a
career-night against Midwestern State with a career-
high six steals. For the week she averaged 4.0 spg
while leading the team with 7.5 rpg. Jay also averaged
9.5 ppg and 1.5 apg while shooting 47.1 percent (8-
of-17) from the field in two contests.

Angelo State
The No. 11/8-ranked Rams took their program-record
winning streak to 12 games with a pair of wins over
No. 23 Midwestern State and Cameron last week.
ASU opened the week with a 72-55 road win over the
Mustangs and followed with a 75-57 victory versus
the Aggies at the Junell Center on Saturday. The wins
took ASU’s overall record to 17-1 and kept the Rams
undefeated in LSC play at 5-0 going into Wednesday’s
clash against A&M-Commerce. The Rams are leading
the nation in field-goal percentage and scoring
margin this season and are ranked second in limiting
opponents to a 37.7 field-goal percentage. ASU has
won 16 of its 17 games by double digits this season,
and are outscoring LSC opponents by a 22.4 point
margin through the first five conference games on its
schedule. Demario Mayfield, who has seven double-
doubles this season, is leading the Rams with 16.3
points and 7.6 rebounds, while Chris Jones is among
the national leaders with 95 assists and 52 steals this
season. Jones had seven assists and four steals last
week, while Marsell Holden hit six 3-pointers to take
his season total to 53 through 18 games. The Rams
and Lions will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the
Junell Center before ASU travels south to play at Texas
A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
Cameron
The Cameron men split the week’s contests with a
win on Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville
and a loss on the road to #8/11 Angelo State. On
Saturday, the Aggies stayed on the Rams tail for the
majority of the contest but faded in the final five
minutes with their offensive weapons fouling out.
Cameron had three players averaging at 12 points or
just over with Jamaal Brantley netting 12.5 a game,
while Desmond Henry and Deondre Ray both had 12.
Matthew Don led CU in rebounding with 8.5 a game.
The Aggies will be off until Saturday where they will
both Midwestern State at 4 p.m. in Lawton.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball
team suffered setbacks to Texas A&M-Commerce and
Tarleton State last week, but received several strong
contributions. John Gilliam averaged a team-high 17
points, while Demetrius Balark poured in 15.5 points
and converted on 52.4-percent of his attempts from
the floor. Chris Wyms chipped in seven of Eastern’s
15 steals over the two games. The Greyhound do not
have a scheduled opponent on Wednesday, but will
return to action on Saturday to host West Texas A&M.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference
games last week falling to Angelo State Wednesday
night home before defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville
on the road... Angelo State snapped MSU’s 11-game
overall winning streak which dated back to a 63-50
loss at St. Mary’s (Texas) on Nov. 30... The home loss
to ASU also broke a 14-game winning streak at D.L.
Ligon Coliseum dating back to an 83-81 setback to
Tarleton State on Jan. 15, 2014... Midwestern State
continues to rank amongst national leaders as the
Mustangs are second in total rebounds (808.0), third
in total blocks (108.0), fourth in field goal percentage
defense (37.9), fourth in 3-point field goal defense
(27.9), sixth in rebound margin (+10.6), seventh in
blocked shots per game (5.7) and 10th in offensive
rebounds per game (15.16)... MSU lost the battle on
the boards for the first time in 11 games as it was
out-boarded by Angelo State 41-37. It was just the
second time this the Mustangs didn’t win the battle
on the glass... Junior guard Bretson McNeal scored
eight points in a game closing 10-2 run including
a pair of 3-pointers to lift the Mustangs to a 75-71
win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday at Steinke
Center... McNeal matched a season-high with five
triples while pulling down six rebounds and dishing
out five assists against Texas A&M-Kingsville after
being held to three points as he fould in 16 minutes
against Angelo State... Junior forward Khapri Alston
has scored in double figures in each of his last five
games after going for 12 points and seven rebounds
against Angelo State and 14 points and four rebound
at Texas A&M-Kingsville... Alston is averaging 14.2
points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 52.1 percent
from the field over the last five games... Senior guard
Derrell Gibbs knocked 4-of-10 shots from the arc last
week against Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville
as he finished in double figures for the fourth time
this season with 10 against the Rams... Senior
forward Abiodun Adegoke scored nine points and
pulled down three rebounds before fouling out in 10
minutes Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State won both games last week, including
a comeback win over West Texas A&M Wednesday
night and a big win over Eastern New Mexico
Saturday. The Texans were led by a breakout scoring
week from TaShawn Mabry, who posted 54 points in
two games including 31 against the Greyhounds and
12 points in the final nine minutes to lead the Texans
past West Texas A&M Wednesday. Tarleton will be
home against McMurry Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went into halftime with leads
in both games last week and nearly upset No. 23/20
Midwestern State before falling to the nationally-
ranked Mustangs, 75-71... in the game, Duan Wright
came off the bench to provide a career-high 19 points
and eight rebounds and threw down an emphatic
dunk to bring the home crowd to their feet... Duan
went 11-of-12 from the free throw line in Saturday’s
loss and began the week with 12 points and six
rebounds in Wednesday’s loss to Cameron... the
Javelinas host No. 11/8 Angelo State on Saturday, Jan.
31 at 6 p.m.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team started
the week with a close five-point loss at No. 15 Tarleton
State. The Buffs then came back from a double-digit
second-half deficit at home to Texas A&M-Commerce
before falling by one point. They now find themselves
with an 11-8 record and 2-4 mark in LSC play. WT will
return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 27, as it caps off its
non-conference schedule by hosting Langston at 6
p.m. from the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

Angelo State
The Belles are now 5-12 on the season and 0-7 in the
LSC ... ASU will face Abilene Christian on Monday at
5 p.m. in an exhibition game ... The Belles are scoring
63.3 points per game and hitting 39.3-percent from
the field ... ASU is limiting teams to 39.1-percent from
the field which is No. 2 in the LSC ... Amanda Weaver
is No. 2 in the LSC in making 40.8-percent from the
3-point line.
Cameron
Cameron continued their mid-season surge after
picking up wins against Texas A&M-Kingsville and
Angelo State last week to move their winning streak
to five games. After starting the season 1-6, the
Aggies have won eight of their last nine to move to
9-7 overall and a 6-1 Lone Star Conference record to
match West Texas A&M for first place. Brandi Leal led
the Aggie attack with a 20 point effort on Wednesday
night against Texas A&M-Kingsville, and a 18 point
afternoon on the road at Angelo State. She would
knock down six treys in both games, one short of
tying a program mark, and through 16 games Leal is
averaging 3.8 three-pointers a game; this is 0.2 behind
a league record and prior to Saturday’s contest she is
was second in the nation overall. Jazzmine Robinson
had double-figure scoring in both games averaging 14
points with 6.5 rebounds. The Aggies will be off until
Saturday where they will host Midwestern State at 2
p.m.
Eastern New Mexico
Over the past two weeks, the Eastern New Mexico
University has shown the ability to rally from large
deficits. Shortly after a 22-point come-from behind
win at Angelo State, ENMU came within four points at
Texas A&M-Commerce, after they trailed by 20. The
Zias took a late lead at Texas Woman’s after trailing
by 11 in the second half, and put together a strong
second half against Tarleton State. Tori Tucker and
Sarah Stinnett averaged 13 and 11 points per game,
respectively, against last week’s three opponents.
Jordyn Cooper chipped in 9.7 points per contest,
while Jasmine Johnson contributed eight per game.
This Saturday, ENMU will host national finalist West
Texas A&M.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State rebounded to win Lone Star
Conference games over Angelo State and Texas A&M-
Kingsville to improve to 15-3 on the season and 6-2 in
league play... The 15-3 mark matches the best start in
school history through 18 games matching the 1989-

averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while
shooting 71.4 percent from the field in wins over
Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville last week...
Carter has scored in double figures in each of her last
seven games averaging 15.1 points and 8.6 rebounds
a game during the stretch while shooting 58.8

at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Jones moved past Mandy
Cluley (315 from 1994-98) into seventh place on
MSU all-time assists chart. She needs nine to pass
Glenda Washington (325 from 1981-86) into sixth...
Senior guard Shatoia Gober scored 13 points and six
assists Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville. It was her
ninth double-figure scoring game of the season and
first since scoring 10 at Eastern New Mexico on Jan.
11... Senior guard Lisa Hampton knocked down three
3-pointers against Texas A&M-Kingsville to move into
a tie for second place on MSU all-time 3-point field
goal makes list with Kristin Ramsey (125 from 2000-
04). She needs eight more to set the career record
and move past Andrea Buben (132 from 2006-10)...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State dropped an overtime heartbreaker
to No. 10 West Texas A&M Wednesday night but
bounced back in a big way with a rout of Eastern New
Mexico in Portales. The TexAnns will be back in action
Wednesday night against McMurry at 5:30 p.m.
Texas A&M-Commerce
1-1 last week.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped both games they
played last week. The Javelinas fell at Cameron (66-
58) and to Midwestern State (66-53) at home. The
Blue and Gold set a season-high with 18 steals against
the Mustangs, the most for them since posting 22
at Eastern New Mexico last February. Both Ruby
Robertson and Ashley Viera averaged a team best 13.0
ppg with Robertson making a team best 72.7 percent
(8-of-11) from the field. Alexis Copeland dished out
a team-high 3.0 apg. Lauren Jay recorded a career
best six assists against MSU, also tied for the fourth
most in team history since the 2000-01 season. For
the week, she averaged 9.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 4.0 spg and
1.5 apg. This week the Javelinas host Angelo State on
Saturday as the teams’ battle for their first LSC win.
Texas Woman’s
The Pioneers have a 12-7 overall record and 5-3
conference record after splitting the two games last
week. TWU defeated Eastern New Mexico, 63-61, on
a late three-point shot by sophomore Emily Spector
on Thursday before falling at #10 West Texas A&M,
80-65, on Sunday. Spector hit the game-winning shot
with 11 seconds left on the clock against the Zias
and recorded her third double-double of the season
with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She then added a
team-best seven rebounds against the Lady Buffs.
Sophomore Kenesha Saygo was the leader in scoring
last week with 14.0 points per game and 4.0 assists
per game. She shot 40.9 percent from the floor
including 60.0 percent from the three-point range.
Spector averaged 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds while
sophomore Erin Maxwell posted 10.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg
and 3.0 blocks per game. On the season Spector is
the team leader in points (11.2 ppg) and rebounds
(6.4 rpg) while Saygo is the leader in scoring against
conference foes with 12.5 points per game. Maxwell
has a team-best 9.7 rpg and 2.7 bpg against LSC
opponents.
West Texas A&M
The No. 10 West Texas A&M women’s basketball
team went 3-0 this week with a thrilling 87-86
overtime victory at Tarleton State, coupled with a pair
of home wins against Texas A&M-Commerce (100-73)
and Texas Woman’s (80-65)...WT improved to 15-2 on
the year and 6-1 in Lone Star Conference play which
is tied with Cameron for the league-lead...Against
TSU, the Lady Buffs built a double-digit lead in the
second half only to see TSU battle back as WT needed
a triple with four seconds left in regulation to tie
(junior Madison McLain)...It was the only field goal
for the Lady Buffs in the final seven-plus minutes of
regulation...McLain then hit another big triple in the
overtime session as WT prevailed...It was the second,
one-point overtime win for the Lady Buffs this season
(Western Washington)...WT then returned home and
put together probably its best half of the season in
the first half against TAMUC...WT scored a season-
high 59 points en route to a 100-73 win...It was the
second time WT hit 100 points this season (Oklahoma
Panhandle State)...Playing just over 24 hours later,
the Lady Buffs downed Texas Woman’s 80-65 as TWU
entered not allowing more than 76 points all season
in a game and held the second-best scoring defense
number in the league (59.6)...Senior Chontiquah
White scored a season-high 27 points in the game.
