Integrity | Tradition | Academic Excellence | LONE STAR CONFERENCE | Community | Respect | Commitment LSC BASKETBALL West Texas A&M and Cameron are tied atop the Lone Star Conference men’s standings with identical 7-3 LSC records. The Buffs have won seven straight games. On the women’s side, WT and Angelo State lead the league at 9-2 and 8-2, respectively. The Lady Buffs are 20-2 overall and have won 20 or more games in a season for the 26th time since 1980-81 and for the fourth- straight year. The Rambelles have won their last five contests. LSC play includes seven men’s games and nine women’s games this week. The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic qualification. The LSC men have a 113-62 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The LSC women are 106-84 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the Heartland, and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE The Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship returns for the fifth year to Allen, Texas in 2016. The tournament will feature eight men’s and eight women’s teams and is scheduled for an exciting four-day run from March 2-5 at the Allen Event Center. Tournament action starts with first-round games on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3. The semifinals will be played Friday, March 4. On Saturday, March 5, fans can see both the women’s and men’s championship games at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Advance tickets are now on sale at LSC member institutions with adult all-session passes $15 off the regular price until March 1. Fans can save $15 off the regular price for all-session passes and avoid fees by making an on-campus advance purchase. The adult all-session ticket grants access to all seven sessions at a reduced rate of $45. The adult price increases to $60 for all-session tickets or $15 per session for those not purchased through LSC schools by March 1. Student single-session tickets are $10 at participating schools and the Allen Event Center Box Office for University students with valid school I.D. (any institution) or children ages 2-18. Tickets are also available at the Allen Event Center Box Office or through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster. com). PLAYERS OF THE WEEK MEN’S OFFENSIVE Bryant Crowder, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Forward, Harlem, New York, Rice HS Crowder led the Lions to a 2-0 week in Lone Star Conference play. The senior was phenomenal for the Lions with a pair of back-to-back 20-point games against two teams who entered the week atop the LSC standings while shooting 64 percent from the floor. Crowder opened the week with 24 points and a 69.2 field goal percentage, 9-of-13, in the 94-77 triumph of then league-leading Cameron. He also accounted for four blocks in the win. Crowder followed up with 21 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor (58.3 percent) in the Lions 70- 66 win at Midwestern State. The win marked the first Lions victory in Wichita Falls since the 2003-04 season. It also marked the first time in school history A&M-Commerce has defeated three ranked teams on the road in the same season. Crowder entered the week shooting 55.8 percent from the free throw line, but raised his percentage to 58 after shooting 25.5 percent higher than his season mark from the line. He went 13-of-16 (81.3 percent) during the two-game stretch. Crowder is currently 18th in the NCAA in field goal percentage and leads the LSC at 61.9 percent. MEN’S DEFENSIVE Anthony Adams, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Guard, Pontiac, Mich., Pontiac HS Adams, the defending LSC Defensive Player of the Week, continued his defensive prowess turning in two strong performances for the Lions, who went 2-0 last week. The 5-2 guard collected a steal and seven rebounds in the Lions 94-77 defeat of then league-leading Cameron in the first game. He followed suit with nine points, eight rebounds (including seven defensive) and three steals in the Lions 70-66 win at No. 11 Midwestern State. The win over the Mustangs was the first road win for the Lions in the series since the 2003-04 season and the first time in program history the Lions have knocked off three ranked teams on the road. Adams was a huge reason MSU, who entered the game shooting 40 percent from behind the arc, went 4-of-22 (18.2 percent). WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE Shomari Harris, Texas A&M University-Commerce, JR, Guard, Las Vegas, Nev. Harris has emerged as the Lions leader on the court, helping the team post a 3-0 record this week for the first time this season. She had two consecutive career games starting with 21 points and four assists versus Texas Woman’s. Following that performance, Harris tallied 11 points on the road against Midwestern State and set a new career high with eight assists to help the Lions snap a five-game losing streak in Wichita Falls. In the win over Cameron, she recorded 11 points. She has elevated her game to another level in the second half of LSC competition, scoring in double figures in the last five games. WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, JR, Forward, Jackson, Miss., Hightower HS Prophet played a huge role in the Belles 2-0 week with her first two double-doubles of the season. The junior scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in ASU’s triple overtime win over No. 6 West Texas A&M and followed it up with 17 points and a career high 15 rebounds in a home win against Eastern New Mexico. Prophet averaged 12.5 rebounds per game and 17.5 points per game for the week. She also blocked seven shots that limited ASU’s opponents to just 38.5-percent from the floor. MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, the LSC’s leading scorer, had another great week for the Buffs as they ran their win streak to seven games with wins over No. 12 Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville to remain in a tie for first place with a 19-7 (7-3 LSC) overall record. Chavlovich went 15-of-34 (44.1 percent) from the floor including 6-of-20 (30 percent) from long range and an impressive 12-of-14 (92.3 percent) from the charity stripe to average 24 points per contest to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in two wins. With his 24 points on Saturday night, Chavlovich sits just 14 points away from the 1,000 career point milestone. To reach the career top-10 for the Buffs, Chavlovich needs 1,138 points for a tie for 10th with WTAMU Hall of Champions member Troy Burrus (1952-54). WT’s all-time leading scorer is Martin Lattibeaudiere with 1,566 career points in 112 games from 1993-97. Deondre Ray, Cameron University, continued to have the consistent hand for the Aggies shooting 16- for-24 from the field and averaging 20.5 points in their two games this last week. In his last three games, the CU senior has scored over 20 points and shot 8-for-10 for 20 points on Saturday against Tarleton State. Additionally, against the Texans he added four rebounds and an assist to help hold TSU to 57 points. At Texas A&M-Commerce, Ray left with 21 points, four boards, and two steals. In 22 games this season, Ray is averaging 14 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Khapri Alston, Midwestern State University, poured in 20.5 points per game while pulling in eight rebounds for Midwestern State in close losses to Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce last week. The 6-5, 240-pound forward notched his ninth double-double of the season Wednesday at Tarleton State scoring 23 points on 9-of- 12 shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking two shots in 34 minutes on the floor. Alston followed up with a 18-point, 6-rebound effort Saturday against Texas A&M-Commerce. He shot 53.8 percent from the field (14-of-26) for the week while going 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. Alston upped his averages in LSC play to 15.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Tre Bennett, Angelo State University, played a major role in the Rams offensive efforts this week extending his streak of scoring double-digits points to 12 consecutive games. The senior point guard scored 25 points against West Texas shooting .500 from the field and .750 from the stripe. He also added five assists, two steals and three rebounds to his number against the Buffs. Against ENMU the Houston native put up double-figures in the points category, scoring 13. He shot .500 from the field and .667 from the foul line. During this game he shared the ball eight times, also pocketing three steals and pulling down three rebounds. Michael Hardge, Tarleton State University, trailing by one point with eight seconds left, he went coast-to- coast and laid in the game-winning bucket with three seconds left to help Tarleton upset No. 11 Midwestern State 66-65. Hardge finished with nine points and two assists. Hardge followed up with a team-high 15 points, three rebounds and two assists on the road at Cameron. Jordan Evans, West Texas A&M University, had another great weekend for the Buffs as the sophomore guard averaged 17.5 points per game to go along with 8.0 rebounds per contest to run WT’s win streak to seven games. The Houston native went 12-of-12 (57.1%) from the floor including 9-of-13 (66.7%) from long range and 2-of-3 (66.6%) from the free throw line to go along with 16 total rebounds (five offensive, 11 defensive) with three blocks and a steal for the Buffs. Trevor Fuller, Midwestern State University, blocked 10 shots over two games against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce last week to lead Midwestern State defensively in a pair of close losses. The 6-8, 235-pound junior from Dallas blocked four shots and grabbed four defensive rebounds while dunking home the game- tying score with 8.4 seconds remaining Thursday at Tarleton State. Fuller swatted six shots Saturday against Texas A&M-Commerce to up his LSC-leading season total to 64 blocked shots this season. Fuller ranks fifth in NCAA Division II averaging 3.05 blocked shots per game. Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds and added eight points in a 66-65 win over No. 11 Midwestern State. The junior forward also had two blocks and a steal. WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Michaela Neuhaus, West Texas A&M University, averaged a team-high 18.5 points for the No. 6 Lady Buffs this week. She went 13 of 24 from the field (.542) and an impressive 9 of 18 from beyond the arc, while averaging 6.0 assists (12 total) and tallied 23 points in Wednesday’s triple overtime game against Angelo State. Neuhaus followed that with 14 points in the Lady Buffs’ win at Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday. Neuhaus buried a career-high seven triples against Angelo State and had five assists, while playing a career-best 52 minutes. Brea Mitchell, Angelo State University, led the Belles to a 2-0 record last week and was a key part to ASU’s 112-111 triple OT win over No. 6 West Texas A&M. The senior scored 27 second half points and led all players with a career high 29 points in the first Angelo State win in Canyon since 2005. She hit a career high six 3-pointers in the game. The Plano native averaged 18.0 points per game and handed out eight assists for the two games. Kassandra Harris, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong week and was exceptional at the free throw line and on the boards for the Greyhounds. In Wednesday’s win over Texas A&M-Kingsville she shot .583 from the floor and hit all six of her free throws for 20 points. Harris also grabbed seven rebounds, which included a pair off the offensive glass. At Angelo State, she added eight more points at the charity stripe to finish with 14 points and eight caroms. In victories over Midwestern State and Cameron, Wipff led the TexAnns with 29 points for an average of 14.5 per game – including 18 on the road in Lawton Saturday to give Tarleton its first win over Cameron since January 9, 2013. Wipff shot .429 from the floor and .875 from the charity stripe. In addition to her scoring, Wipff grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists, grabbed two steals, and blocked a shot. Eliza Martinez, Eastern New Mexico University, standout defensive effort allowed Eastern to split a pair of Lone Star Conference games, last week. The performance held the opposition to just 54.5 points per game and a .284 shooting percentage, which included just a .178 shooting percentage outside the three-point line. Last Wednesday, Martinez blocked four shots, had a steal, scored seven points, and had six caroms, to lift ENMU to a 67-42 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. In that game the Hounds set season- bests with a .237 field-goal percentage allowed and nine blocked shots. Eastern limited the Javelinas to just five points in the third quarter. Martinez also blocked four shots at Angelo State and helped hold the Rambelles to just .167 from outside the three- point line. Krystal Pickron, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was huge for the Lions this week as she led the team in rebounds, averaging 7.3 boards per game, and had five picked pockets. Pickron showed up big on the glass defensively, pulling down a team high of 15 defensive rebounds. Against Cameron, Pickron had three points, but snatched 10 rebounds and had one steal. In the game against Texas Woman’s, Pickron had 12 points and seven rebounds in the 88-78 win. Her 12 points against Texas Woman’s was Pickron’s highest scoring game against a LSC opponent until she caused headaches for Midwestern State by dropping 15 points (becoming her new single-game career high) and added five rebounds and three steals to her performance. Krystal Pickron also shot 5-of-5 from the free throw line against Midwestern State, and ended the week with a perfect percentage at the stripe, shooting 8-of-8. Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, stepped up in a big way for the TexAnns to lead Tarleton to a pair of wins last week to stretch the winning streak to three. The junior from Houston led the way with 16 rebounds in two games for an average of 8.0 points and anchored the Tarleton defense that held Midwestern State and Cameron to just .381 shooting from the floor and 55.0 points per game. She also had two steals, two assists, and 17 points for an average of 8.5 points per game, including a 13-point, eight- rebound effort in Saturday’s road win at Cameron. Zantaya Davis, West Texas A&M University, tied her career-high with 13 rebounds in the triple overtime thriller against Angelo State Wednesday. She finished the week averaging 11.0 rebounds for two games, including nine rebounds at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. Davis averaged 9.5 points narrowly missing averaging a double-double as she was 6 of 18 from the field and 7 of 10 from the line. She started both games for the Lady Buffs and helped hold TAMUK to just 25 percent shooting for the game and 41 points. It marked the 19th time this season WT has held the opposition under 40 percent shooting and third under 30 percent. In addition, it marked the 10th game WT has allowed less than 50 points and the 15th game under 60 points. MEN’S NOTES (Submitted by LSC SID’s) Angelo State The Rams improved to 17-4 overall and 5-4 in the Lone Star Conference this week. The team rebounded after a loss to WT on the road with its sixth 100-point performance of the season against ENMU. This tied the most 100 point games in a single season in program history. Cameron 1-1 last week. Eastern New Mexico 1-1 last week. Midwestern State Midwestern State dropped consecutive Lone Star Conference games to Tarleton State and Texas A&M- Commerce to fall to 16-5 overall and to 5-4 in Lone Star Conference play... The Mustangs have lost four consecutive games for the first time since Jan. 17-28, 2006 when then fell to Tarleton State, Texas A&M- Kingsville, West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico in succession... It was MSU’s first loss to Texas A&M- Commerce since the Lions claimed a 74-66 decision on Jan. 9, 2013 to snap a string of eight straight Midwestern wins in the series. MSU had won 17 of 18 against A&M-C dating back to the start of the 2005- 06 campaign... The Lions won for the first time in D.L. Ligon Coliseum since the 2003-04 season as MSU had won eight straight under the dome against A&M-C... Midwestern has held a lead in all 21 games this season giving up leads of seven with 7:35 to play at Tarleton State and 10 with 17:21 to go against Texas A&M- Commerce last week... The Mustangs have turned the ball over just nine times in the last 60 minutes of play including one in the second half against Tarleton State and eight against Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday... MSU is shooting 39.6 percent as a team during its current four-game losing streak after shooting 48.8 percent as a team during its 13-game winning streak from Nov. 27-Jan. 20... The Mustangs limited the opposition to 36.1 percent shooting during its 13-game winning streak, but has allowed 46.8 percent shooting during the four-game slide... The Mustangs have been outscored by 10 points in regulation during its current four-game losing streak... MSU allowed opponents to shoot 70 percent from the field in the game’s final five minutes during it current four-game losing streak... Senior forward Khapri Alston notched his ninth double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday at Tarleton State... Alston leads the LSC in rebounding at 9.9 per game and is averaging 15.1 points and 11.7 rebounds a game during league play... Junior forward Trevor Fuller recorded 10 combined blocked shots against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce last week to up his season total to 64... Fuller leads the LSC with 3.05 blocked shots per game... Senior guard Bretson McNeal had a season-high six steals Saturday against Texas A&M-Commerce and leads the LSC with 41 steals in 21 games... Tarleton State Tarleton topped No. 11 Midwestern State 66-65 on Michael Hardge’s game-winning layup with three seconds left. The Texans fell on the road to Cameron 73-57 and holds a 16-6 record overall and 5-4 in the Lone Star Conference. Tarleton will travel to Angelo State on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Texas A&M-Commerce With the win over Midwestern State, the Lions improved to 16-6 overall and 5-4 in the crowded Lone Star Conference. It also give the Lions a 3-0 record against ranked opponents when playing on the road. Along with Saturday’s 70-66 win over No. 11 Midwestern State, the Lions topped then ranked No. 4 Angelo State 93-88 on January 9 and beat then ranked No. 22 Tarleton State 67-65 on January 30. The Lions picked up their first win on the road at Midwestern State since the 2003-04 season snapping an eight game losing streak to the Mustangs. The Lions are 3-1 against ranked teams in 2015-16 with the lone loss coming at home to then ranked No. 4 MSU on January 16. In the last three seasons, the Lions have racked up eight wins against opponents ranked in the top 25. Texas A&M-Kingsville 0-2 last week. West Texas A&M The Buffs continued to roll this past week as they ran their win streak to seven games while also moving into a tie for first place in the Lone Star Conference with wins over No. 12 Angelo State and Texas A&M- Kingsville to move to 19-7 (7-3 LSC) on the season. Eastern New Mexico The Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team played stifling defense last week and managed to split a pair of Lone Star Conference games. For the week, the Hounds allowed just 54.5 points per game, a .284 shooting percentage, and a .178 shooting percentage from three-point range. The best defensive performance of the season came in Wednesday’s 67-42 win over Texas A&M- Kingsville, when the squad posted season-bests with nine blocked shots and a .237 field goal percentage allowed. Kassandra Harris paced ENMU with her fourth 20-point game of the season and grabbed seven rebounds. Eliza Martinez blocked four shots. Eastern limited the Rambelles to just four three- point buckets, but dropped a 67-53 decision. Harris chipped in 14 points, while Martinez blocked four more shots. Sarah Stinnett also performed well for the week, with 9.5 points per game, six assists and six steals. This week, the Greyhounds will visit Texas Woman’s and Cameron. On Saturday, ENMU will host Midwestern State.

Tarleton State Tarleton stretched its winning streak to three in a row with wins over Midwestern State and Cameron last week. The win against Cameron is the first over the Aggies since January 9, 2013. Tarleton will return to action Wednesday night in San Angelo when the TexAnns visit the Rambelles. Texas A&M-Commerce The Lions are in a midst of a run and are doing so at the right time as we enter the second half of Lone Star Conference competition. The Lions went 3-0 this week beating Cameron, Texas Woman’s, and Midwestern State. The Lions beat Cameron 53-47 and Midwestern State 67-59 to complete season sweeps over both opponents. The win against Midwestern State snapped a five-game losing streak in Wichita Falls and marks the first time the Lions have swept the Mustangs in a season since the 2008-09. A&M- Commerce 88-78 win over Texas Woman’s split the season series and places them in a good position in the conference standings. The Lions will travel to Kingsville, Texas Wednesday, February 10 in hopes to complete their third sweep this season before a big home game against Angelo State on Saturday, February 13. Texas A&M-Kingsville 0-2 last week. Texas Woman’s TWU is 17-6 on the season and 7-4 in the Lone Star Conference after dropping the only game last week at Texas A&M-Commerce, 88-78. The Pioneers had three players set new career high point totals in the loss. Junior Deja Pointer led four players in double figures with a career-high 19 points. She erased her previous high of 18 points set last season on the same floor in Commerce, TX. Sophomore Alexis Nezianya also scored a career-high 15 points while freshman Bri’anna Gray came off the bench and added a new career-best 10 points. Junior Emily Spector added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds off the bench while junior Erin Maxwell finished with nine points. On the season Maxwell leads the team in scoring (12.1 ppg), rebounds (8.4) and blocks (69). Freshman Kara Mitchell is the team leader in assists (4&) and steals (34) while Nezianya has a team-best .505 shooting percentage. West Texas A&M The No. 6 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs are coming off a 1-1 week with a heartbreaking, three-overtime loss to Angelo State 112-111 and a 62-41 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville to remain one half game ahead in the league standings...WT is 20-2 on the year and 9-2 in Lone Star Conference play as the Lady Buffs won 20 or more games in a season for the 26th time since 1980-81 and for the fourth-straight year...The triple overtime game was the longest for WT since 1980- 81 and the 112-111 score was the first time both teams have scored in the 100’s since then, too... It also marked the highest scoring game between two teams...The loss snapped a string of 25-straight home wins and 24 home conference game winning streak dating back to 2012-13 *regular season)...The Lady Buffs played LSC foe Cameron in a home non- conference game in the NCAA Tournament in 2015 for the 25th home win against a conference team (24 regular season)...It also was the longest game for Angelo State in Rambelle history....Senior Michaela Neuhaus continued on her tear this year as she buried a career-high seven triples against ASU and played 53 minutes which was a career-best...For the week she drained nine triples and shot 13 of 24 from the field...Neuhaus led the way with 12 assists for the week... LSC, CITY OF FRISCO TO HOST 2016 MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
