Angelo State remains unbeaten at 4-0-1 after non-conference play. The Lone Star Conference teams are performing well overall this season, with a combined record of 14-10-4. Haley Mendel of Angelo State and Courtney Burnette of Midwestern State were named the offensive and defensive players of the week respectively for their strong performances. The standings show Angelo State in first place with a 4-0-1 record, followed by Texas A&M-Commerce at 4-1 and Midwestern State at 2-1-1.

LSC SOCCER
Angelo State is unbeaten at 4-0-1 after two weeks of non-conference action.
The women’s teams are 14-10-4 overall this season. The squads are currently 7-6-3 combined versus
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 4-2-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Haley Mendel, Angelo State University, JR, Midfield, Bastrop, Texas, Bastrop HS
Mendel led the No. 17 Belles to three road wins against South Central Regional opponents. The junior is tops on
the team with three goals on the season and now has 10 for her career. The first two goals of the season were
scored in a win over Fort Lewis. Her third came against St. Mary’s on a breakaway. She is tied for second in the
LSC with goals scored and goals per game.
DEFENSIVE
Courtney Burnette, Midwestern State University, SO, Irving, Texas, MacArthur HS
Logged 181 minutes between the posts for Midwestern State last weekend … Recorded her second shutout of
the season against No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs … Tallied eight saves against UCCS and Western State including
four in the final 20 minutes against UCCS and two in the second overtime against the Mountaineers ... Finished
the weekend with a 0.99 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Hayley Rohleder, Midwestern State University, helped the Mustangs to a 1-0-1 record on the road last week
including a 1-0 upset win over No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs ... Recorded one goal and one assist in a season-high
62 minutes against Western State ... Made her first start of the season against the Mountaineers and scored a
goal from the corner of the six-yard box to give MSU a 1-0 lead in the second minute ... Assisted on Aly Wade’s
goal in the 57th minute to knot the match at 2-2 ... Placed both of her shots on goal against Western ... Played
38 minutes in the second half against UCCS to help keep the Mountain Lions off the board.
Brady Prescott, West Texas A&M University, headed home the game-winner against Southwestern Oklahoma
State with two seconds left in the match. That was her first career goal for the Lady Buffs. “
Tori Hendrickson, Eastern New Mexico University, besides playing great defensive soccer and helping the
ENMU goal keeper to three saves, she scored a goal as a defensive player for the Greyhounds.
McKynzie Zick, West Texas A&M University, made five saves in her season debut against SWOSU. She made
the save of the match in the 50th minute on a shot by Cori Kelly at point blank range. She now has four career
shutouts.
Ashley Exford, Angelo State University, guided a Belles defense that only allowed two goals last weekend.
ASU held opponents scoreless for 316 total minutes. Exford helped limit teams to 24 total shots in three
matches. She is a stable on defense playing in 257 minutes last week and 467 on the season.

Angelo State
The Belles moved up to No. 17 in the nation after starting the season 4-0-1 ... ASU has outscored opponents
9-3 with six of the nine goals coming in the first half ... The defense has limited teams to just 47 total shots and
only 18 in the first half ... GK’s Shantel Wittke and Natalie Nielsen have only allowed three goals on the season
with Wittke picking up two shutouts ... The Belles play their home opener on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Dallas
Baptist and host UTPB on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team went 1-1 the past week, picking up a win over Texas
A&M International 2-1, but falling to St. Mary’s University 2-0. Morgan Fairbanks and Tori Hendrickson scored
goals for the Greyhounds while Christina Escobedo had three saves.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State went 1-0-1 in Colorado last weekend, upsetting No. 13 UC-Colorado Springs, 1-0, and
battling Western State to a 2-2 draw. The Mustangs are receiving votes in this week’s NSCAA national poll and
are ranked No. 5 in the South Central Region after their 2-1-1 start to the season. Senior midfielder Morgan
Hannon converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute against UCCS to help propel the Mustangs to their first win
over a nationally-ranked program since 2013. Against the Mountaineers, goals by freshman midfielder Hayley
Rohleder and junior forward Aly Wade helped Midwestern State earn a draw to wrap up the weekend. The
Mustangs travel to Southern Nazarene (Okla.) for a 1 p.m. contest Saturday in Bethany.

Texas Woman’s
The TWU soccer team is 2-2-1 on the season after dropping both games over the weekend in Colorado. The
Pioneers suffered their first loss of the season at Colorado State-Pueblo, 1-0, Friday night and then fell to
Colorado School of Mines, 1-0, Sunday afternoon. Both games were scoreless until the 75th minute. Senior
goalkeeper Ariana Morrison made 16 saves in the two games. She tied her career-high with 10 saves against
Colorado Mines. On the season Morrison has a 0.57 GAA and .900 save percentage. Senior Natalia Diaz leads
the team on offense with five points on two goals and an assists.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs finished the week with a record of 1-1 after a dramatic 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon against
Southwestern Oklahoma State. After dropping a 2-0 decision to Southern Nazarene on Thursday night in
Bethany, Okla. WT hosted SWOSU in their home opener. The Bulldogs came close to scoring in the 50th minute
but sophomore McKynzie Zick made a terrific save. Emily Cassady’s cross in the dying seconds of the match
found Brady Prescott in the box. Prescott headed the ball past SWOSU’s Courtney Flores into the goal with only
two seconds left in the match. That was Prescott’s first career goal for the Lady Buffs.
