LSC SOCCER
Angelo State remains atop the Lone Star Conference with 12 points (4-1) after one victory last week. LSC play
continues this week with five games.
The womenโs teams are 38-26-8 overall this season. The squads are currently 9-6-3 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 11-5-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Demi Tsambasis, Angelo State University, JR, Forward, Temecula, Great Oak HS
Tsambasis was the offensive spark in a win for the Belles against Midwestern State. She scored two goals
against the Mustangs for her fifth and sixth goals of the season. She is tied for second on the team and third
in the conference in goals scored with teammate Haley Mendel. Tsambasis also has the second most game-
winning goals in the LSC with three.
DEFENSIVE
McKynize Zick, West Texas A&M University, SO, Arlington, Texas, Alington HS
Zick picked up her second and third win of the season this past weekend with 10 saves. She earned her second
shutout of the season in WTโs 1-0 victory against Texas Womanโs. Zick came up big in the match against Texas
A&M-Commerce making three crucial saves in the first 45 minutes to preserves the Lady Buffs lead.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Natalia Diaz, Texas Womanโs University, helped the Pioneers to a 1-1 record on the road with a goal and an
assist over the weekend. With TWU trailing 1-0 at Eastern New Mexico, she tied the game in the 83rd minute
with a blast from 18 yards out. Diaz later assisted on the game-winner in double overtime. Diazโs assist against
ENMU is the seventh of the season and set a new TWU single season breaking her own record (6) set in 2014.
On the season she has four goals and seven assists for 15 points.
Melissa Carnero, Eastern New Mexico University, tallied the game-winning goal in the Greyhoundsโ 3-0 win
over Texas-Permian Basin. She also had an assist in the game. For the week, Carnero paced ENMU with three
points and five shots.
Karyn Forbes, West Texas A&M University, scored her first game winner of the season against Texas Womanโs
on Friday night. After receiving a through ball from Ashlee Craig, Forbes took one touch before slotting it far
post. She came back on Sunday and assisted Rachel Herringโs game winning header in the first half.
Vicky Back, Texas A&M University - Commerce, recorded a goal and an assist in the last week, the lone Lion
to do so. Her goal came against Eastern New Mexico, when her corner kick hit the back post and found the back
of the net. The score put the Lions up 1-0 before the Blue and Gold ultimately added an insurance goal. Backโs
assist came against West Texas A&M on Sunday in the lone Lion score of the game. A&M-Commerce went 1-0-2
during this span, but Back leads the conference in goals and game winners.
Morgan Hannon, Midwestern State University, delivered the golden goal in the 100th minute with a shot
from 25 yards out over the head of CSU-Pueblo goalkeeper Ann-Marie OโConnell in a 1-0 victory over the
ThunderWolves. Hannonโs goal gave Midwestern State its first overtime win since Oct. 6, 2013. The game
winner was Hannonโs second of the season. She is tied for second on the team with three goals and third with
six points on the season.
Shantel Wittke , Angelo State University, the senior goalkeeper recorded her sixth shutout of the season
against Midwestern State and fourth in a row in a 2-0 win. Wittke leads all LSC goalkeepers in goals against
average (.399) and is tied for most shutouts (6). She also anchors defense that has allowed the fewest goals of
any LSC squad (6).
Katie Huff , Midwestern State University, helped the Mustangs record their sixth shutout of the season in
a 1-0 overtime victory over CSU-Pueblo. In a loss to fifth-ranked Angelo State, the Mustangs held one of the
nationโs top offenses to two goals and nine shots, both below ASUโs season average. Huff has played every
minute for the Mustangs this season at center back as the squad ranks 26th nationally with a .545 shutout
percentage and 34th with a .693 goals against average. MSU has allowed just eight goals in 11 matches and has
not allowed a team to score more than two. Huff has started all of MSUโs 51 matches the last three seasons,
and played every minute the last two seasons.
Courtnie Northern, Texas A&M University - Commerce, recorded 13 saves and allowed four goals this week,
helping the Lions to a 1-2-0 record. Her 2-0 shutout of Eastern New Mexico was the sixth from A&M-Commerce
this season, tops in the LSC.

Angelo State
The Angelo State womenโs soccer team is riding a four-match winning streak going into play for the weekend
with two pivotal road matches against Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M. During the four game
streak the Belles have logged four consecutive shutouts while retaking first place in the conference with 12
points. Sierra Anderson continues to be the catalyst for the top ranked offense in the Lone Star Conference.
She has seven goals, 47 shots, and four assists. She ranks in the top five in the LSC in all three categories. Demi

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University womenโs soccer team snapped a four-game skid on Tuesday with a 3-0 win
over Texas-Permian Basin. Melissa Carnero tallied the game-winning goal in the first half, while Carolyn Armijo
and Tori Hendrickson scored in the second half. Morgan Fairbanks scored late in Sundayโs setback against Texas
Womanโs. This weekend, the Hounds will host #5 Angelo State and Midwestern State.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State went 1-1-0 on the week following a 1-0 overtime win over CSU-Pueblo and a 2-0 setback to
No. 5 Angelo State to move to 6-3-2, 2-2-1 LSC. Against the ThunderWolves, senior midfielder Morgan Hannon
delivered the golden goal with a strike from 25 yards out in the 100th minute for the Mustangsโ first overtime
win since 2013. Midwestern State also recorded its sixth shutout of the season. The Mustangs defense currently
ranks 26th nationally with a .545 shutout percentage and 34th with a .693 goals against average. Midwestern
begins a road swing Friday with trips to West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
Texas A&M-Commerce
A&M-Commerce went 1-2-0 this week, sandwiching a win over ENMU in between losses to Dallas Baptist and
West Texas A&M. The Lions were the final team in the LSC to suffer a conference loss this season. The Blue and
Gold look for a stronger week this time around, as they will host Texas Womanโs in LSC play. The two teams
played to a 2-2 tie in Denton on October 1.
Texas Womanโs
TWU is 6-4-2 on the season and 2-2-1 in the Lone Star Conference after splitting the two games on the road
over the weekend. The Pioneers fell at West Texas A&M, 1-0, before bouncing back with a 2-1 double overtime
win at Eastern New Mexico. Trailing 1-0 against ENMU, senior Natalia Diaz blasted a shot from 18 yards out
to tie the game in the 83rd minute. Junior Nancy Chavez gave the Pioneers a 2-1 win in double overtime on
an assist by Diaz. Itโs Chavezโs second game-winning goal of the season. Diazโs assist against the Greyhounds
is the seventh of the season and set a new TWU single season breaking her own record (6) set in 2014. She
also holds TWU career assists record with 13 and counting. On the season Diaz has a team-best four goals and
seven assists for 15 points. Chavez, junior Gabby Larson and freshman Ashley Bishop all have two goals and
four points. Senior Ariana Morrison has played every minute in the net for TWU and has a 0.87 GAA, 63 saves,
.851 save percentage and three shutouts.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs picked up two crucial wins this past weekend at The Pitch and moved into second place in the
LSC standings(3-2-0). WT defeated Texas Womanโs on Friday night, 1-0, on a goal from Karyn Forbes in the 37th
minute. McKynzie Zick picked up her second shutout of the season making five saves against the Pioneers. The
Lady Buffs carried that momentum over to Sundayโs match against Texas A&M-Commerce. They scored two
first half goals and held on to win, 2-1. Khadidra Debesette scored her seventh of the season in the 11th minute
on a loose ball in the box. Rachel Herring added a brace in the 23rd minute as her header found the back of
the net. After a long ball from Forbes, Herring timed her jump perfectly as she headed the ball over the out
stretched hands of the keeper. WT was able to hold off a furious Lions attack in the second as they improved to
4-0 at home this season.
