The INSTITUTE of PHILOSOPHY and SOCIOLOGY, founded in 1981 in Riga, LATVIA, implements integrated interdisciplinary research in the spheres of the humanities and social sciences: philosophy, academic study of religions, sociology, and oral history. Our objective is to develop the humanities and social sciences as the basis of Latvian intellectual culture, combine research with the study process, present internationally acknowledged information on the history of the development of Latvian culture, society, philosophy and ideas, to research contemporary social processes and identities in Latvia.
