2. RESEARCH
• During my research I wanted to get a clear understanding of
my client. I knew that it was canon therefore I made sure I did
some in depth analysis of them. I discovered where they were
based which is Tokyo and I also discovered that there is bases in
Europe as well. I also did some further research into what other
existing products they have , I understand that they now don’t
only do cameras, they also do printers, photocopiers, and
household security cameras. This research can be included in my
ideas. I looked into how Canon arranged their brand during this I
seen how they did their current advertisements and their adverts.
They did this in a very corresponding fashion. When researching I
seen that it was usually based on one image and a slogan
therefore, I wanted to use this in my work and take inspiration
from this. Canon want to link their buyers and suppliers and make
all of their products connect to the consumer and buyer. In my
opinion canon have a recurring aim and want to inspire and help
people interested in media and creative vocational activities .
3. AUDIENCE
• When looking at my target audience, during the research I wanted
to follow the brief of the age group. Therefore, I wanted to get to
know them better. I asked my audience and peers many questions on a
form / questionnaire what they like taking pictures of , why and how
they would do this. I feel like doing this I can get a feel for what they
may like to see in my products. Even though I did a forms
questionnaire, I wanted to get a more in – depth answer from my
peers. Therefore, I held a focus group asking similar questions but, in
more detail, so that I can specific details from my target audience and
so I can also understand what they wouldn’t want to see. This really
helped me connect with my audience as I could base my ideas off their
interests. I know that my target audience like nature and the sky as
well as natural beauty and general photography.
• When looking over these details I decided that I used these in my
ideas and most of my overall feedback was positive other than one
person however as I did go with what the majority of my target
audience their opinion may be different if they don’t have similar
interests.
4. DRAFTS AND
EXPERIMENTATION
• When doing my work I had quite a few initial ideas. I wasn’t sure what I
wanted to base my work on until I had done my questionnaire with my
target audience. I then discovered that Doing sunsets and basing my work
on the journey of the sky would have been a great idea as many of my
peers as well as my audience explained that they did like nature and the
sky. I had a few issues when initially turning my work from a flat plan to
real life product. I encountered some issues with photoshop. Some of these
issues were within the editing process. I didn’t want to colorize any of my
work as I felt as though It would be manipulating my audience into
thinking the camera was better than it was, therefore, I used the original
photos without editing it as this would have showed the true effect of the
camera. I had some struggles adding shadows to the canon logo onto the
moon of my advertisement. I overcame this issue when I managed to add
stroke and gradient to my writing. I felt as though this has helped me in
the long run as I am now able to understand how to solve a problem. I also
had a similar experience when editing my magazine cover. It was very hard
to expand the image without cutting the details out , to overcome this I
had to draw using the color match tool and the pen to match the side and
make it stretch. Overall I am very happy with the progress I have made
within my work as well as personally within my problem-solving skills.
5. FINAL
PRODUCTS
• In my final products I had to make sure that I had done everything to
plan and make sure that all of my work was corresponding to my ideas as
well as the brief. I made sure that in my magazine cover It was
photography and media based. I wanted to include sentences that linked
to the brief and targeted my audience. To do this I showed the camera that
I used to take the photos , I also included a new canon lens in my cover.
This is to make people aware of what the camera can do and how it can
capture images. I added some examples of how the camera can make bad
phone quality pictures look good and not blurry I also included some
‘lighting tips’ as I wanted to make it look as professional as possible. In my
advertisement I wanted to do something completely different by doing an
advertisement that was simple yet effective. I used a high-quality image of
the mood featuring the canon logo in the center. I added a short slogan
“why reach for the stars when you can go beyond the moon” this is to
highlight that what other cameras can do canon can do it better. I added
canons slogan / tagline so that people can recognize what the advert is
aimed at.
• I gathered feedback on my work and my final products, and I had mainly
positive feedback. I was very happy with what I received as I didn’t have
much to act upon. All of my target audience other than one person
explained that it was visually appealing , that they liked my ideas, and they
wouldn’t change anything.
