Canon – journeys

Canon magazine cover
This is my final canon magazine cover. I wanted to create a bright and
colourful background for my cover. I took these photos hoping that it
would be appealing to my audience. I added lots of text relating to
photography. I included three different serif fonts. I downloaded these
from dafont. I wanted to make my cover stand out . i decided to go
against the usual codes and conventions by not cluttering the cover
with lots of images and text as many people said they would read all of
the information on the front therefore I decided it would be a smart
idea to add what is included, such as tips and tricks, interviews with a
model , the new camera and lens, how images can be transformed and
techniques. I also added a barcode and a price tag to represent a
magazine cover. I took inspiration from vogue magazines as well as
photo pro covers. I felt as though my advert would be attractive as
many of my target audience explained that they like taking pictures of
sunsets and nature as well as the sky therefore I wanted to base my
journeys on that topic. I added the camera and the lens that I used to
this cover so that people can see the full effect that it has without any
colourisation.
Canon advert
This is my canon advert, I wanted to make something simple yet
effective. I took a picture of the moon as I wanted to document
the journey of the sky , therefore contrasting the day and night in
my magazine cover and my advert. I decided that I wanted the
canon logo to be centre of the moon as this was what looked
more visually appealing. I added a purple background as I thought
it looked nice against the beige moon. I didn’t want to colourise or
manipulate the image in any way as I just wanted it to showcase
what the camera can accomplish on its own without any added
effects or lenses. I also wanted to add a small quote, initially I was
going to use “reach for the stars ” however I later changed this
and decided that “why reach for the stars when you can go
beyond the moon” was a better and more efficient quote as I
wanted to show that canon products are better than any other
products and highlight what one camera can do , canon can go
beyond that. I added canons short slogan “image is everything.” as
I thought that it linked to my previous tagline/ slogan. It also
represents canons intentions meaning people may recognise it
and understand what canon are about without any other
information .
Equipment used.
• In my project I used the
following camera, which is the
canon EOS – R camera, it is
quite small and handy therefore
I showcased this on my
magazine cover to target my
audience. As well as this, I used
a tripod so that I could capture
images that were zoomed in
without the camera moving or
being blurry. I didn’t use any
lighting or other equipment as I
felt that I wanted to show what
someone with no skill or
previous experience could do
with just the camera and little
to none professional equipment
or lighting
Behind the scenes
• These are some of the behind the footage
images that my peer took. This was me taking
footage of the sky for some of the images,
unfortunately I didn’t use these images as it
was quite gloomy, therefore I went out on
another day , later on the evening and I used
the footage that I took then. I felt as though it
would have had a daunting effect on my
advertisement or magazine if I used images
from this day.

Explaining my
feedback
• In my feedback I received a lot of positive feedback,
many people said that they liked my ideas, as well as
this I had many people of my target audience say that
my advert was simple and effective, high quality and
visually appealing . As well as this they also explained
that my magazine cover was visually appealing ,
included key parts and represented the brief.
• There was only one person that said that they didn’t
like it as it wasn’t visually appealing. However, I will be
able to take this as constructive criticism and act on
this in further projects. As most of my feedback was
positive, I am very happy that I have fulfilled the brief
and have targeted my audience successfully.

Explaining my feedback • In my feedback I received a lot of positive feedback, many people said that they liked my ideas, as well as this I had many people of my target audience say that my advert was simple and effective, high quality and visually appealing . As well as this they also explained that my magazine cover was visually appealing , included key parts and represented the brief. • There was only one person that said that they didn’t like it as it wasn’t visually appealing. However, I will be able to take this as constructive criticism and act on this in further projects. As most of my feedback was positive, I am very happy that I have fulfilled the brief and have targeted my audience successfully.
