4. The public works department(JKR)has been challenged to work
out a quick solution to the water woes faced by the people in Tarat.
Many people complaints have been received from the public about
not having enough water and they have to wait until night
and sometimes the water is dirty during the days.
Datuk Roland Sagah, who is deputy State Legislative
Assembly Speaker, ask to jkr to find the solution and do
something without having to wait for ministers to give
instructions because Sagah know a
water storage tank had had been built near SMK Tun Razak
was not utilized. The facility could not be used because the
piping had been vandalized. JKR given the answer that funding
was the problem .But, Sagah believe the government can always
get allocations from elsewhere and upgrade the treated
water system in Tarat . Current rainy season the water
pressure was still low. Many areas are hit by floods. Some people
had to turn to rain water or streams for their daily chores, it is
dangerous to their health considering that the water was untreated.
5. The public works department(PWD)needs about needs about
RM25million.
to repair roads that were damaged in the flood which occurred on
October 7.According to Datuk Seri Musa Aman the Chief
Minister , most of the fund needed is to repair the
badly damaged Penampang-Tambunan road which is now not
passable
to all traffic. The repair work is expected to take
about four months as the locations is steep and narrow.
Datuk Musa when speaking to the media later said that the
infrastructure
in flooded areas have suffered much damaged. PWD director
mentioned that roads were damaged and in some areas , bridges
were
also damaged. PWD that they are carrying out repairs on the
damaged
roads now.
6. The Public Works Department fully recovered 30
performance bonds – RM 20.97 million and 21 bons total
recovered RM26.97.The total amount recovered
RM15.77 million. If the contractor
fails to complete the project can be withdrawn. The
department reclaim RM 4.89 million in advance payments
from banks,
Financial institutions and insurance companies before
the bond expired. Three fails to complete the project also
never done via tender nor referred to the “Jawatankuasa
Penyelamat Projek Sakit” and contractor to claim to
payments following the termination of contracts .
