1. Public Service Annoucement
Introduction: The purpose of this activity is for you to work collaboratively in a group to create a public
service announcement that raises awareness for how humans are impacting the biosphere. Begin by
choosing the topic for your public service announcement. The announcement should be focused on one
specific way humans have negatively impacted an ecosystem in another part of the world. Once you
have chosen your topic, plan out your announcement with your group. Write out a script and plan out
the roles each group member will take on. Plan out where and how you plan to film/record the
announcement. In order to make your announcement have the greatest impact, consider the following:
1) How will you draw in the audience and make them want to pay attention to your announcement?
2) How will you hold the attention of your audience throughout your announcement?
3) How will you get the message across in a concise yet meaningful way?
4) How will you challenge your audience to take action?
Guidelines:
Your public service announcement should not be much longer than one minute
Your public service announcement should be attention-grabbing and engaging
You can make an audio announcement, video announcement, or animated announcement (using a
program such as xtranormal or go animate)
