2. History of Slideshare
SlideShare was officially launched on October 4,
2006. Rashmi Sinha, the CEO and co-founder of
SlideShare and was named amongst the world’s Top 10
Women Influencers in Web 2.0 by Fast Company.
But eventually, on May 3, 2012, SLideShare
announced that it was to be acquired by LinkedIn. It is
reported that the deal was $118.75 million.
In December 2013, SlideShare revamped its site
offering more of a visual spin on the homepage, including
larger images.
3. What is Slideshare?
LinkedIn SlideShare is a Web 2.0 based slide
hosting service. Users can upload files privately or
publicly in the following formats: PowerPoint, Keynote, or
OpenDocument presentations.
Slide decks can then be viewed on the site itself,
on hand held devices or embedded on other sites.

5. Disadvantages of Slideshare
1 No built in way to track views.
2 Must use other program to create and edit the material.
3 Cannot have transitions.
4 Challenges when uploading video file types.
6. How to use Slideshare
1 You need to sign up and should fill out your profile. In
your profile, you can include a link back to your website’s
URL, choose some tags to describe you and your image.
2 You need to include a good description for your
presentations without having your viewers to view them first.
3 Then don’t forget that SlideShare allows you to embed
links right in you presentations.
7. Users of Slideshare
a. Teachers
- they can make powerpoint presentations and
upload it in SlideShare to give access to other teachers
and students.
b. Students
- they can upload their homeworks through
powerpoint presentations then upload to SlideShare to
pass it to their professors.
c. Employee
-they can have access to different powerpoint
presentations as their visuals in their line of work.
