About International Women’s Day: <ul><li>International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 th . </li></ul><ul><li>It is a day that recognizes the achievements of all women regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, political beliefs, language or their cultural, or economic situation. </li></ul>

History: <ul><li>February 28 th , 1909: First National Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States to honour women’s protest against working conditions during a strike in 1908. </li></ul><ul><li>1910: more than a million women and men in Europe participate in demonstrations to demand equality for women. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>A Women’s Day was established in Copenhagen. This day was to honour movement for women’s rights and universal suffrage. There was approval of this proposal. </li></ul><ul><li>1911: Because of the Copenhagen initiative, International Women’s Day was celebrated for the 1 st time on March 19 th in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>More than 1 million men and women attended rallies demanding the right to vote, hold public office, the right to work, to vocational training and to end discrimination on the job. </li></ul></ul>

Russian women observed their first International Women’s Day on the last Sunday in February. </li></ul><ul><li>Elsewhere in Europe, on or around March 8 th of the following year, women held rallies to protest the war. </li></ul><ul><li>1917: in Russia, women were granted the right to vote. </li></ul><ul><li>1975: was International Women’s Year. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The UN began celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8 th of this year </li></ul></ul>
