4. Traditional approaches to deal with metal allergies

Eczematiform lesions on both hands, started 4 years ago, resisting to gloves wearing and corticosteroids treatments

After 3 weeks and 2 months : Neat improvement

7. Using a topical specific protective cream – case report 2
Man, Construction worker, 38 yo
Disease history :
Eczematiform lesions on both hands, occupational rhythmicity, resisting to gloves wearing, betamethasone and
emollient treatments
Patch test : ESB, rubber and personal items (gloves)
Result : ESB : Potassium dichromate ++, Cobalt ++, Nickel ++, MIT-MCIT ++, rubber and gloves : -
Action : prevent Metal exposure with cotton gloves and Protective Cream
After 2 weeks and 2 months : Neat improvement

9. A new tool is available for people suffering from metal
allergy
• Prevention measures can be complemented with new topical creams, that specifically
bind metals and trap them at the surface of epidermis, reducing skin exposure to metal.
• In 74 % of studied cases, such protective cream allowed skin recovery in case of contact
dermatitis and prevention of ACD in case of exposure.
• No corticosteroids and other anti-inflamatory drug were needed for these users.
• New tool available for about 1 y, actively looking for professionals to evaluate its
potential and use with their patients in variety of settings
