2. Easter Day is the central religious feast in
the Christian world. According to
Christian scripture, Jesus rose from the
death on the third day after his
crucifixion. Some Christians celebrate
this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter
Sunday. Easter is a moveable feast,
meaning it is not fixed in relation to the
civil calendar.
3. Easter is the most favorite and the most
anticipated holiday in the Christian
world. Each year Armenian Apostolic
Church in these days is gathered in silent
recollection, praying and meditating on
the mystery of the passion, death and
Resurrection of the Lord. The Armenian
Church celebrates the Easter Feast on
the first Sunday following the full moon
of the vernal equinox, with 35 days move

4. Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny are
both fertility symbols, holdovers from the
feast of Eostara. Other symbolic parallels
include the pagan joy in the rising sun of
spring, which coincides with Christians’
joy in the rising Son of God, and the
lighting of candles in churches, which
corresponds to the pagan bonfires. The
symbol of the cross and images of Jesus
Christ, through paintings or statues, are
remembered on Easter Day.
