MY VISION OF THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

                              By Markus Kerbs
LOCATION
Due to a shortage of space and utilization of individual advantages, entire cities will be found in
 new locations:

o On the water
o Underwater
o In space
o On other planets
LIVING
In my vision there will be smart city apartments located close to the center and smart apartments
and smart houses on the outskirts of the city, with access to public transport within at most 750m.
Smart homes achieve a very low energy consumption though the usage of a variety
technologies, like smart meters. Furthermore, smart homes are totally connected
homes, meaning that all devices are linked with the home computer system, which allows people
to remote control things inside their home and automate tasks like the shopping process.
PRODUCTION FACILITIES I

o Some manufacturing plants will be relocated under the ground, many kilometers below the
actual city, in order to save place, but still being in a close distance to the place where the
products are needed, without directly disturbing the city dwellers

o Those plants can make use of
  geothermal energy, allowing the energy-
  intensive production to achieve
  cost savings
o Due to the fact that nobody is bothered
by the production process under the
ground, facilities can operate day and
  night, seven days a week.
o A special subway will be used for
transportation, going in and out of the
  facilities
PRODUCTION FACILITIES II

Certain plants will be outsourced into the ocean and outer space (Space manufacturing) in order
to utilize individual advantages, as a cheap cooling possibility by the use of sea water or the
economical movement of materials in space.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Smart public transport will be the most
efficient way of traveling inside the city.
TRAVEL CENTER

Travel centers will allow towners to do mid-range
travels via plane, high-speed train and ship.
SPACE ELEVATOR

o A space elevator will allow
  towners to do long-range
  travels and transport
  objects to and from space

o Spacecrafters will be used to
  continue travels in space
PRIVATE TRANSPORT I

o Motorized private transport will be limited
  inside the city
o There will be intelligent magnetic streets in
the air which provide energy to vehicles
(e.g. through inductive transfer) and remote
  control them autonomously to one„s
  desired destination, minimizing accidents
  and improving the traffic flow
o Park towers will allow vehicles to park
inside the future city. These towers are
  directly connected to public transport
  systems
o The entire city is emission-free
PRIVATE TRANSPORT II

o The ground of the city will be available for
  pedestrians, bikes and small intelligent
  short-range vehicles. Through this
concept, the future city can minimize the
use of traffic lights and personal hazards
o Taxis and smart citiy car-sharing solutions
will enable towners to shift to close
  destinations
PRIVATE TRANSPORT III

o Small intelligent short-range vehicles will be
used to move inside the city

o Mid-range vehicles will be used to travel from
the outskirts of the city or from out of town
ENERGY GENERATION
o The biggest part of the energy requirements of the future
city should be covered by itself through Fusion
Power, Solar, Wind and Geothermal Energy. Thereby
should every complex of building generate at least a
significant part of its own power demand with green
energy. Otherwise the owner has to pay a certain
  penalty fee
o The rest of the required energy could be transferred
from Space-based Solar Power, where it will be
collected through huge solar panels and send to earth
  with microwaves
FEEDING SYSTEM

o Urban Agriculture will be one of the
major requirements in order to assure
  the minimum level of agricultural
  products for towners.
  Total economic independence from
  preliminary and agricultural products is
  simply not cost-effective

o In the future it will be crucial that a city
has an effective fresh water recycling
  system.
  Additionally a desalination of seawater
could be necessary in order to stay
  autonomous
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
o The core of the future city will be built in several
layers, so that space will be used in an optimal
  way
o Automatic instant retinal scanning will be as an
  identification and payment method
o The entire city of the future should have an Ultra
Speed Coverage without the need of any wires
