The concept of worship in
              Islam
Do all people believe that they are created ?
*How do we know about Allah’s existence :

*How do we know about Allah’s existence :
“In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation
of the night and the day, there are signs for the people of
                    understanding” (Qur’an: 3: 190)

•What's the purpose of creation ?
Relevant issues
• Muslims believe that Allah is the only sole
  creator .

• One of Allah’s magnificent names is the
  creator.

• Islam is not only something practiced on
  Fridays , it’s a whole comprehensive way
  of life.
William Montgomery Watt
“ but what does religion mean to the occidental ?
At best , for the ordinary man it means a way of
spending an hour or so on Sundays in practices
which gives him some support & strength in
dealing with problems of daily life, How different
from the connotations to the Muslims of verse:
( true religion is deen), which in Arabic commonly
refers to a whole way of life . It is not a private
matter for individuals touching only periphery of
their lives, but something which is both private
& public , something which permeates the whole
fabric of the society in a way of which men are
conscious. It is all in one theological dogma
,acts of worship , political practice ,& a detailed
code of conduct including even matters which
the Europeans would classify as hygiene or
   etiquette”
What's the purpose of creation
  ?

• Why did Allah create us ?

• Did he create us to enjoy our lives ?

• OR for the sake of creating something ?

• OR just for the sake of procreation?
• Allah’s creation is meaningful & life has a
  sublime purpose beyond the physical
need & material activities of man.

• The purpose of life & creation is :

       To worship Allah the
  almighty .
The answer from the Qur’an

* What did Allah say about creation in the Qur’an:
“I have not created the jinn and the Humankind except that
they should worship me” (Qur’an 51:56)
The concept of worship in
         Islam
• Worship in Islam does not mean to spend
our entire lives in a constant state of
  seclusion & absolute meditation.
• Worship in Islam is not confined to
  performing prayers & fasting.
• praying & fasting are only minor rituals .
• The concept of worship in Islam is
  different than any other religion.
• Its not just to spend a couple of hours in the
  mosque , in Fridays.

• The concept of worship in Islam is “to do all the
  lawful with a good intention”

• Sleeping could be considered a kind of worship ,
  (Those who stood in adoration)

• One of the teachings of the prophet (Pbuh).
even intimate relationships between husbands &
  wives.
• To worship Allah is to know him ,to love him ,to
obey his commandments ,to enforce his law in
every aspect of life , to serve his cause by doing
the right & shunning the evil & to be just to him ,
to ourselves & to our fellow human beings .

• To worship Allah is to live life , not to run away
  from it. (no celibacy)

• You don’t have to choose between being close
to Allah or living a happy normal life.
• Celibacy is forbidden in Islam .

Conc:
• to worship Allah is to imbue ourselves with
  his supreme attributes .
• If life has a purpose & man is created to
serve that purpose , he cannot by any means
  escape to serve that purpose.
• Allah has provided him with all required
assistance , he endows him with reason &
power to chose his own course of conduct.
• Man is strongly commanded by Allah to exert his
  utmost to serve the purpose.

• Should he neglect his duties or fail to do them,
he shall be responsible before Allah.

• Allah says: ( And I (Allah) created not the jinn
and mankind except to worship me (alone) I
seek not any provision from them ,nor do I ask
they should feed me. Verily Allah is the all-
provider , owner of power ,the most strong)
• The expanded course of worship necessitates a code of
moral deeds that can be materialized in our daily life .

• Completes the harmony with the other Islamic principles
  of faith.

• Allah does not accept lip service .

• Principle : No worship without deeds.

• Islamic moralities are the true worshipping of Allah .
• Worshiping in Islam is the essence of true exalted
  moralities .
• Muslims believe: worship is not only confined to
  mankind .

• Worship is to all creatures of Allah, even those
  which are invisible to us.

• Allah says: (and to Allah prostrates all that which
is in heavens ,& every creature on the earth &
angels .And they all are not arrogant)
One of the most important forms of
             worship
• Prayer is a sort communication between Allah &
  his slaves .
• It’s a sort of reenergizing oneself & refining one's
  soul.
• Prayer is of two types : obligatory &
                         voluntary
• Muslims pray 5 times a day, facing the ka’bah.
  (kiblah)
• The ka’bah is not an idol, it was the first
house of worship to be built.
• Muslims believe that its not capable of
  neither benefiting or harming them.
• Prayers give the sense of universality.
• why do Muslims prostrate?
• Islam is just a revival for previous religion.
(Jesus fell on his face when doing prayers
  ,Abraham & Moses ) Mathiew
conc:
• Every word we say ,every act & every conduct
we do ,every intention we make ,every single
step we take is considered worship.

• In condition that its accompanied with a good
intention & based on fear & respect to Allah .
• Worship is meant to improve mans life
• Other religions misunderstand that
• Worship is to love life , not to run away
  from it.
