5:30 – 8 pm        Hunter Education     classes are held at Parks and Recreation. A workbook is issued prior to

April 6 & 7        Youth Center         Join us at the Child, Youth and School Services Youth Center for a 3 on 3
6 – 8 pm           Basketball           Basketball Tournament. Teams play Friday and Saturday and there is no cost

April 6 & 7        Youth Center         A Free two day tournament where youth can compete with their gaming

April 6 & 27       In Her Shoes:        This simulation activity is used to increase awareness of the struggles that
9 – 11:30 am       Living With          women with abusive partners face. The activity illustrates how domestic
                   Domestic             violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs a
                   Violence             battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we all
                                        have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. . Space is limited to

April 7           Focus on Turkey      McEwen Library is partnering with Parks and Recreation to present this
9 am – 2 pm       Hunting              program. Spring is almost here and it is time to focus on Turkey Hunting.
                                       Mike Joyner, author, past president of the NY State Chapter of the National
                                       Wild Turkey Federation, Hevi-Shot Pro-Staff and avid turkey hunter will be
                                       on Fort Drum to share his vast knowledge on turkeys, turkey hunting,
                                       shotguns and shotgun patterning. This seminar will include an overview on
                                       the sport from 9 - 10 am, a meet and greet from 10 - 11 am, fundamentals of
                                       patterning and sighting shotguns from 11 am - noon. This seminar will repeat
                                       with meet and greet from 1 - 4 pm. Mike will have books on sale to benefit

April 7           2012 Fort Drum       These matches will be held at Magrath Sports Complex and are open to
9:30 am           Volleyball           active duty Military assigned/attached to Fort Drum, Family members 19
                  Championships        years and older, retirees, reservists, and DoD civilians employed on Fort
                                       Drum. Rosters due to the Sports Office, Bldg. P-10050, by 4:30 on April 4.

April 8           Easter Brunch        Bring the family to the Commons for A huge Easter Brunch Buffet. Enjoy
11 am and 1 pm                         breakfast fare such as Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, French
                                       Toast, Bacon, Sausage, and Hash Browns. For your sweet tooth, assorted
                                       pastries, a Chocolate Fountain with fresh fruit, and Tomato, Orange, and
                                       Cranberry juices will be offered. The chefs carving station will include
                                       Pineapple- Mustard Glazed Ham, Herb Roasted Top Round of Beef, Roast
                                       Turkey with Cornbread Stuffing, and Rosemary Garlic Leg of Lamb. The
                                       seafood station features Peel and Eat Shrimp, and Seafood Alfredo Tortellini.
                                       A variety of side dishes will be served to compliment the meal such as
                                       Mashed or Scalloped Potatoes and Broccoli with Cheese Sauce. Be sure to
                                       save room for the assorted dessert table. Milk, coffee and a glass of
                                       champagne are also included. The cost is $18.95 per adult and $8.95 for
                                       children 8 years and younger. Reservations are recommended and can be

April 9           Stalker              Family Advocacy Program conducts this class in how to deal with too much
1:30 – 3:30       Awareness            interest in you by someone. Learn what is not appropriate and how to
                                       handle it. Class held at Army Community Service by the Family Advocacy

April 10          Coastie The          Coastie will visit the McEwen Library for story time to talk to kids about
10 – 11 am        Coast Guard Boat     water safety. This a free program aimed at preschool and young elementary

April 11          What Do Peeps        Come to the McEwen Library and create a diorama with PEEPS – take a
4 – 8 pm          Read?                scene from your favorite book, and recreate it using PEEPS. Then, bring your
                                       diorama back on Saturday,APRIL 14th for it to be judged in our “ALL MY
                                       PEEPS ARE AT THE LIBRARY” Contest. Please bring with you a shoebox,
                                       any special PEEPS, and anything you might want to add to your diorama.
                                       We will have some supplies here. Come in or call the Library to register for

April 13 – 15     Trip to              Enjoy the nation's capitol with its many museums, monuments and the
Bus leaves 7 am   Washington DC        National Zoo. $130 per person single or couple, $240 one parent with child
                                       under 6 year of age, $330 for a family of 3, and $390 for a family of 4. Price
                                       includes transportation and 2 night’s accommodations just outside of

April 13          Month Of The         Youth in grades 7 - 12 spend the night at the Youth Center. The fun includes

April 13          Indoor Paintball     Youth 10 – 18 years of age can enjoy paintball inside in the Fort Drum Youth
6 – 9 pm                               Center’s inflatable arena. Cost is $5 for Youth Center Members and $10 for

The activity illustrates how domestic Domestic violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs a Violence battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. .   • 2. April 7 Focus on Turkey McEwen Library is partnering with Parks and Recreation to present this 9 am – 2 pm Hunting program. Spring is almost here and it is time to focus on Turkey Hunting. Mike Joyner, author, past president of the NY State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Hevi-Shot Pro-Staff and avid turkey hunter will be on Fort Drum to share his vast knowledge on turkeys, turkey hunting, shotguns and shotgun patterning. This seminar will include an overview on the sport from 9 - 10 am, a meet and greet from 10 - 11 am, fundamentals of patterning and sighting shotguns from 11 am - noon. This seminar will repeat with meet and greet from 1 - 4 pm. Mike will have books on sale to benefit Wounded Warrior Project. Enjoy 11 am and 1 pm breakfast fare such as Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, French Toast, Bacon, Sausage, and Hash Browns. For your sweet tooth, assorted pastries, a Chocolate Fountain with fresh fruit, and Tomato, Orange, and Cranberry juices will be offered. The chefs carving station will include Pineapple- Mustard Glazed Ham, Herb Roasted Top Round of Beef, Roast Turkey with Cornbread Stuffing, and Rosemary Garlic Leg of Lamb. The seafood station features Peel and Eat Shrimp, and Seafood Alfredo Tortellini. A variety of side dishes will be served to compliment the meal such as Mashed or Scalloped Potatoes and Broccoli with Cheese Sauce. Be sure to save room for the assorted dessert table. Learn what is not appropriate and how to handle it. Class held at Army Community Service by the Family Advocacy Program. Then, bring your diorama back on Saturday,APRIL 14th for it to be judged in our “ALL MY PEEPS ARE AT THE LIBRARY” Contest. Please bring with you a shoebox, any special PEEPS, and anything you might want to add to your diorama. We will have some supplies here. Come in or call the Library to register for this event.
