  4. 4. Why this matters to me… • Roots in Westminster, MD (since 1820…) – So, I have been doing diversity work since 1976 (Yes! Since I was 4 years old!) • First-hand experience of immersion in many diverse cultures – Have lived in PG County and traveled throughout Latin America – Non-profit work in Washington, DC with marginalized communities and in CCPS as Spanish Language & Culture Instructor • Connection and commitment to McDaniel College since 1992 • My step-daughter is a member of the class of 2015!

Areas of Specific focus: • Student support and advocacy – Programs, guidance and assistance for underrepresented students: often one-on-one. – Support and coordination of multicultural student organizations. • Collaborative work on campus and throughout the community – Unique programming and resources to promote multicultural awareness and understanding within the larger campus community and beyond. • Resources to students, faculty and staff in their efforts on behalf of diversity and multiculturalism. • Support with recruitment and retention efforts.
