4. What happens when words don’t
end with ‘typical’ masculine or
feminine endings?
These words must be learned individually.
One cannot predict the gender of non-living things
in Spanish.
Do not try to analyze the nature of the object,
looking for some inherent masculinity or
femininity. It won't work!

both end with ‘L’.
‘La sal’ (salt) is feminine.
