QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Set up our Sailors up for success starting with an effective check-in process. The following are some tips
to set your new Sailors up for success:
• Sailors should be given a career development board as soon as possible when checking in; whether
they are fresh from A-School or on the fourth sea tour. That very first career development board gives
a snapshot of where a Sailor is and what they need to do to perform-to-serve.
• Newly assigned Sailors do not always have access to a computer; share yours during check-in. Review
their OMPF as well as review the www.npc.navy.mil, NPC Detailers Facebook and Twitter site. We are
all busy; these tools make it a lot easier to be kept up to date.
• Ensure Sailors know their critical dates; evaluations, mid-term reviews, as well as exam dates and test
ordering. An informed Sailor, is more effective. No one gets left behind, because we just forgot.
Bottom line, we are all living in a resource constrained environment, and I am asking you directly to
provide both knowledge and access to resources. Our Sailors need your support and assistance.
CHECK IN PROCESS FOR SUCCESS
