W
e have prepared this report for our course Business Communication. In this report
we have researched on the Smartphone features which are helpful for the students
in their studies of Fashion Designing. For the purpose of this report, we conducted survey
across the students of Indus University Fashion Department. Students were asked different
questions about the features of their Smartphone which are helpful in studies and on the basis
of the survey we had collected the following result.
The findings compare feedback from 160 students which are Smartphone user in the design
department who took part in the survey and we observed that Smartphone plays a virtual role
in student’s life. Hence in the survey we conducted in our university we found out that every
student have their different point of view regarding to Smartphone’s & their brands. We asked
the students about their Smartphone brand, 15% are using Nokia, 30% are using Samsung, 10%
are using Iphone, 35% said HTC, while rest 10% are using different Smartphone brands.
The survey focuses on the helpful features of a Smartphone like Camera, Storage, Wi-Fi/GPRS,
Large Screen Display, Mapping, Social Networking and Microsoft Office (MS). These are the
basic features which are available in every brand of Smartphone. The feedback given by the
students about these features points out that internet connectivity and the large data storage
capability are the main and important features which are very useful.
The feedback provided by the students of Indus University Fashion Department on the survey
operation is very valuable. We extend our deep appreciation to those students. We would like
to extend our sincere thanks to the Business Communication Teacher, for her guidance in
planning and execution of the research report. Similarly, our appreciation goes to our group
members for their dedicated effort and coordinating in execution and hard work and active
involvement in different phases of the survey and preparation of this report. Similarly, we

ast week we asked some questions from fashion designing students to find out which are
the helpful features of a Smartphone? Now we are back with the answers and everyone has a
different point of view to tell.
Which feature of a Smartphone is helpful in your studies of fashion designing? We seem to
have pretty good answers. Which features do you more prefer in your Smartphone?
The answer is right here.
Most of the students use their Smartphone as a camera than they do to make calls. More
students use the internet browser for searching of the assignments pictures. They told us what
features are helpful and used on daily basis and what are only needed once in a while. We also
came to know which features are most wanted but, for various reasons still not widely used.
Before we go thought, we’d like to thank the students for taking part in our survey so actively.
180 students which are Smartphone user responded, 100 students of which clocked in the first
day of the survey. As you could imagine, the results should be representative enough given the
number of respondents representing various age groups, both genders.
And while the result can most probably apply to the Smartphone users all over the design
department they are hardly accurate as far as the whole Indus University students are
concerned.
Here are some numbers that prove this further: 100% of students browse the web on their
Smartphone and more than 90% students of the fashion department have a Smartphone.
One final note before we begin: about 40% of the students prefer that 3 applications are used
at a time and 40% of the students prefer that less than 3 applications are used at a time.

5. DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS
On the basis of the survey the data collection we found is:
SMARTPHONE USED BY THE STUDENTS:
There are lots of Smartphone with different brands and every brand has different features.
According to the brands features 35% students prefer HTC, 30% prefer Samsung, 15% prefer
Nokia, and 10% prefer Iphone while 10% prefer others Smartphone’s brands.

6. SMARTPHONE FEATURES ARE HELPFUL FOR STUDENTS:
Smartphone features are helpful to the students in their studies of fashion designing. Basic
features includes; Camera, Internet Connectivity, Storage, Social Networking and Document
Editor
CAMERA:
Smartphone features are helpful for students in their studies of fashion designing. According to
our survey 90% students prefer camera as a helpful feature of a Smartphone in which 40%
students prefer for designing, 30% for illustration, 10% for Fashion Business, 5% for Techniques
and 5% for sewing.
INTERNET CONNECTIVITY:
100% students prefer internet connectivity as a helpful feature of a Smartphone in which 90%
prefer to use Wi-Fi and 10% prefer GPRS.
According to the students, Wi-Fi works faster than GPRS in the Smartphone.
STORAGE:
100% students voted for large data storage in their Smartphone in which 25% students thinks
only internal storage is maximum for their data, 25% Prefer expandable micro SD card and 50%
prefer to both internal and external capacity to store their data. Students need storage for
saving picture Related to designing; fashion shows videos, designing articles, presentations on
MS Office documents and others.
SOCIAL NETWORKING:
70% students use Smartphone social networking sites and apps for their studies in which 30%
finds Google helpful in their studies, 30% finds Facebook effective, 5% find Twitter helpful, 2%

Ms Documents are now easily used on the Smartphone's which is a very helpful feature in a
student’s life and according to the survey we conducted 50% students prefer that document
editor (word, excel, power point) as a helpful feature of a Smartphone while rest of them still
believes that MS Office is more easily used on a computer than on Smartphone.

8. SMARTPHONE APPICATIONS MOSTLY USE AT A TIME:
Now Smartphone's have made easy to use many applications at a time like a computer do. The
students prefers to use multiple applications like; playing games, texting, using social
networking sites and taking pictures and many more at a time. The survey indicates that 40%
students prefer to use less than 3 applications at a time, 40% student’s uses 3 applications at a
time and 20% students uses more than 3 applications at a time.

45% male students agree with the statement and 55% female students accepted that

10. Conclusion
As the above reports output shows that Smartphone's features are helpful in the studies of
fashion designing. Smartphone's features are convenient and effective in the student’s life. It
provides you a multiple function in one package. As you can capture images which help you to
create new ideas at anywhere and you can upload your designs, portfolio’s thought its feature
network connectivity (Wi-Fi or GPRS), which helps you to connect to the world and updates you
with all the latest news of the world. Social networking sites are the main platform for social
business and communication throughout the world. Smartphone's have made easy to use many
applications at a time like a computer do. Like playing games, texting, using social networking
sites and taking pictures, watching videos and many more at a time. Smartphone's features are
effective in the studies! Approximately 36 out of 80 male students said Smartphone features
are affective while 44 out of 80 female students said Smartphone features are effective in their
studies of fashion designing. Some of the student’s opinion about the addition of new features

was to upgrade paint as a basic feature of the Smartphone.
