  8. 8. Brief Review of Napoleon Hill’s Road to Success I. THE ROAD TO SUCCESS-15 BILLBOARDS:- 1. Desire as a Definite Aim in life: Do not underestimate the value of this due to its simplicity. You need to set an objective before you can achieve it. Not having a solid aim to focus on cannot possibly get you to it. You have to know what you want so that you can start receiving it. 2. Self Confidence: Believe that you are worthy of success and that you can attain it. Without this simple understanding truly understanding it you will probably get nowhere with most of your goals. If you are not confident, then you cannot sell yourself in life. 3. Initiative: addresses the importance of leadership skill. Here, hill acknowledge the the penalties of leadership. Leaders are not always spoken of sweetly. This should not deter you from becoming a leader. It is only ‘genius “that attracts the attention of critics. Nobody bothers slandering a person who isn’t somewhere near the upper rings of the ladder of success. 4. Imagination: Dream, and use your imagination to help lead you to the attainment of your goals. A Themaking good decision comes with use, and your intuition will always lead you toward your dream. Dreams and actions are closely related. 5. Enthusiasm: Compels you to act. Mix enthusiasm with your work- does something you are enthusiastic about- and you will not get tired nearly as quickly. Hill explains the things that can contribute to enthusiasm, one being to wear nice clothes. Basically, if you look like a million bucks, you'll feel like a million bucks, and you will likely find yourself around a million bucks. The opposite is also true, and this is to be avoided. Feel good about your appearance, because it also affects the first impression of you on others who can be instrumental in your path to success. 6. Action: In size the man is about a hundred million time larger than the bee, but in intelligence the bee is about hundred million times longer than the man. 7. Self Control: Auto suggestion is like reprogramming your subconscious mind to believe what you want it to believe- to replace your old beliefs with new ones that will serve you better. This takes self control. Have you ever tried to change a habit? It makes sense. When you take control over the thoughts you are thinking, then you can take control of your success. Make these thoughts the ones you want to believe, and See yourself the way you want to see you.
  9. 9. 8. Habit of performing More than paid for: If you are going to whine about your work, then you are not going anywhere. Do the work you have in front of you, then ask what else you may do. By doing this, you make yourself valuable, and you will surely reach a point where you are being paid handsomely. Valuable employees are... valuable. This is also an especially true when you are working for yourself. 9. Attractive personality: Have one. Don't point things out on people, don't hang your head and say "I’m tired". Mediocrity does not care if you are pleasant or not. Success does. 10. Accurate Thought: Sort "facts" from "information", and use auto-suggestion in conjunction with Focused thoughts. 11. Concentration: "Concentration is the act of focusing the mind upon a given desire until ways and means for its realization have been worked out and successfully put into operation". That about covers it. 12. Persistence: It is simply habit of completing everything one begins, first having learn what to begin and what not to begin. 13. Learning from Failure: Yes! Fail, and be happy that it is bringing you one step closer to success. Failure is inevitable, and it is a great step towards the right direction. Replace "failure" with "temporary defeat". 14. Tolerance: Don't practice prejudice or racism. It is ignorance, and it is a barrier to success. Just see the best in people and situations, and focus only on your goal and the good for all. 15. Applying The Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you wish them to do unto you." Also, "Think of others as you wish them to think of you."
  10. 10. II. SUCCESS:-  Success - A few have achieved it, everybody wants to achieve it.  You wish to succeed. It can do you no harm to know that your success must come through the aid of your own mind; especially the imaginative section of your mind wherein you build definite plans for the guidance of your physical activities.  This book unravels the difficulties and obstacles encountered during the journey on the Road to Success. III. LEADERSHIP:-  Leadership is something which seldom comes by invitation. It is something which you must invite yourself into. In every business there is a fine opening for a first-class leader. But, he must be a man who is willing to do the thing that ought to be done without someone telling him to do it.  Leadership means responsibilities, but the most profitable work usually is that which shoulders the greatest responsibility on a man.  Leadership should become a habit and the leader with humility becomes the powerful man of action and he is then sought for greater leadership.  Leadership is a privilege and anybody can be a leader by merely doing the thing that ought to be done whether you are told to do it or not; whether it is your job to do it or not; whether you are paid for it or not! IV. THE POWER OF EXTENDED VISION:-  Many of our mistakes worked a temporary hardship on others, and all of them worked an immediate hardship on us, but these mistakes and failures were profitable, because every one of them caused us to climb up out of the debris of the failure itself with a broader and more extended vision than we had before.  The power of extended vision is the only power on earth, which will help a person to climb out of the rut of mediocrity in any walk of life.  The power of extended vision is something which everyone must cultivate because the happy, contented workmen usually are a mere reflection of the disposition of the head of the works.  We are forced to the conclusion that the ability to extend one’s vision except more of one’s self is not only a desirable quality, but a necessary one!
  11. 11. CENTRAL THEME OF THE BOOK  Napoleon Hill addresses the age old question “Why success has been possible for some people and seems to elude others?” through his articles titled Road to Success: Timeless Advice for Today. This was a question that Napoleon Hill had in his early childhood and spent his lifetime pursuing that question. Hill sought the answer as to why some are successful and millions are not in a manner that no one had ever done before.  Road to Success: Timeless Advice for Today provides with valuable writings on success. The articles in the book are exactly as Hill typed them on his old manual typewriter. The articles written more than ninety years ago are as relevant today as when Hill penned them. The book epitomizes the foundation required for being successful.  Sometimes when you are faced with a challenging day at work, my suggestion is to read famous quotes about success to give you the confidence to overcome the challenges and succeed.  Concentration of effort and the habit of working with a definite chief aim are two of the essential factors in success which are always found together. One leads to the other.  It is impossible for obstacles to be completely avoided on your road to success. Just remember, do not get discouraged and learn from the difficulties you encounter along the way.  Do not loose your self-confidence try for your next better action. Planning for better future.  It is planned the basic fundas of the lifes, after the failure you learn something and you again again go for your goal.  Use your time efficiently and strategize exactly how you will accomplish your plan. Then when you are ready to take action you will have a step by step, sure fire way to achieving it.
  12. 12. CRITICAL ANALYSIS IN OB VIEW:-  In this analysis the view of ob is how to think, how to motivate, most of the failure in front of you, how you solve it.  Experience is what creates a superior leader. It takes complete dedication and a resilient attitude to reach any goal. Always make a supreme effort when confronting the challenges ahead. Your ability to overcome and ultimately prevail, are true qualities of a successful leader.  1.Problem Definition  2. Analysis  3. Action Planning  Problem Definition: 1st step to solving an organizational problem is to know the source of the difficulty.  The Levels of Problems:  When you know what gaps exist, it is then important to understand the ways in which they affect organization.  Problems affect company in 3 ways.  1. Within or between certain people  2. Within or between groups  3. Within the whole organization ANALYSIS:-  In this step we try to understand the causes.  Why do they exist?  What environmental factors play a role? ACTION PLANNING:- Action plan has six important steps.  1.Set Specific Goals.  2. Define activities, Resources Needed, Responsibilities.  3. Set a Timetable for Action.  4. Forecast Outcomes, Develop Contingencies.  5. Formulate a Detailed Plan of Action in time sequence.  6. Implement, Supervise Execution, and Evaluate Based on Goals in Step one.
  13. 13. MOTIVATION:- It is an elusive animal that all organizations want to capture. Expectancy theory outlines the factors that produce motivation with individuals. Everyone can use expectancy theory to attempt to understand employees’ behavior. Motivation = Expectation of work will lead to Performance X Expectation performance will lead to Reward X Value of Reward LEADERSHIP:- Leaders shape goals. Leaders develop new ideas. Leaders reach people on an emotional level. POWER OF EXTENDED VISION:- They are the no of people in this world-many million all told, we suspect-who are harnessed and hitched to mediocre ,depressing ,soul crushing work which merely provide an existence, for no other reason than the lack of extended vision!
  14. 14. CONCLUSION:- For this teach us life is made up of one long facing of decision-of deciding promptly or letting the opportunity pass. use your self right think well of yourself, work hard, yourself controlling power and the willingness to assume heavy responsibilities. Its also learn habit of performing more work and better than you are paid to perform. Some accurate decision for success fundas. And last, we are forced to the conclusion that the ability to extend one’s vision and expect more of one’s self is not only a desirable quality, but a necessary one.
