DOBDOB FARMERS
REHABILITATION
aims to rehabilitate and
nurture Dobdob as the
primary supplier of
organically grown
vegetables, fruits and
chicken eggs in
Dumaguete City.
Introduction The concept is built to
help farmers in Dobdob
achieve the best of it’s
potential by encouraging
the farmers to grow
organically vegetables
with the aid of new
technologies that will be
introduced and apply
these techniques to its
respective farms.
A tree concept with
several areas of
consideration was made
to realize the program.
A GLIMPSE OF BARANGAY
DOBDOB, VALENCIA, NEG. OR
Located in the fourth largest island in
the Philippines, Negros Oriental is
separated from its sister province by
a chain of rugged mountains that
extends from the north to the south
of the island. It occupies nearly all of
eastern Negros facing the Tañon
Strait and is strategically located in
the heart of the region providing
access to markets in Luzon, Visayas
and Mindanao. Forming the
foundation of investment offerings,
Negros Oriental holds broad sweep of
lands available for agriculture and
development, rich marine life and
mineral reserves, diverse nature spots
perfect for tourism and a pool of
skilled and trainable manpower.
A GLIMPSE OF BARANGAY
DOBDOB, VALENCIA, NEG. OR
Valencia on the other hand, occupies
an area of 14,749 hectares , 35% of
which are classified as plains. The
town is 65% mountainous, with
elevation averaging from 200 to 500
meters( 660 to 1,640 ft.) above sea
level, with the top of Mount Talinis
at an elevation of 1,903 meters (6,243
ft.) along the municipal southern
boundary. The climate in the
municipality is relatively cool
especially at higher elevations. The
region is also the most critical area of
Negros Oriental, providing abundant
supply of water to Valencia and its
neighboring municipalities.
WHY BARANGAY DOBDOB?
√ Strongly affected by Typhoon Sendong and farmlands are
widely devastated to date.
√ 7 hours away from Valencia and means of transportation
is habal2 during rainy days because of the road(rocky and
muddy) and vehicles(e.g canter, elf truck, etc.) is also made
available during hot seasons.
√ Conducted study believes that if Dobdob is developed
into agriculture area, there is no need for the whole
Dumaguete City to purchase vegetables from other towns
like Cebu and Benguet. Self-sufficiency then will be attain.
√ The area is really blessed with abundant water for
irrigation, sandy loam type of soil which most crops prefer
and are very supportive to new technologies introduced by
the academme.
√ Foundation University faculty visited the area twice and
sees the potential as the primary supplier of
vegetable(selected) and other goods in the entire
Dumaguete.
VISION
VEGETABLE-SECURE DUMAGUETE
A self-sufficient and sustainable organically
vegetable growing city by rehabilitating Barangay
Dobdob through strong and innovative science
base technologies.
MISSION
To rehabilitate Barangay Dobdob and
provide opportunities for the stakeholders
to improve productivity and alleviate their
way of life through economically sound
approach and resiliency to climate change.
GOALS
1.Rehabilitate the lands of Barangay Dobdob after
typhoon Sendong hits the area and encourage
farmers to adopt the new methods of farming
organically that seeks sustainability and resiliency
towards the challenge of global warming.
2. Led locally in producing organically grown
vegetables with Dodbob Farmers as the model
farmers.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE
MODEL
The model will be established by the FUCA and the FU-
Extension Service in partnership with EDC,DA and DTI
with the following targets and focus.
1.Conduct research – topography, weather pattern, agricultural
engineering related fields and etc.
2. Conduct extension activities:
A. Radio programs- conducted Foundation
University College of Agriculture students from 4:00
AM to 5:00AM every Mondays to Saturdays powered by
Greyhound 101.
B. Trainings- enhance farmers methods of farming.
3. Establish Demonstration Farms- 2 model farms will be
established which will be replicated by the members later on.
4. DTI to help establish retort facilities for farmers produce.

RELEVANCE TO PHILIPPINE
SITUATION
√ Agriculture takes development to rural areas
- can bolster rural development and create sustainable economies in many
rural areas.
- rural communities, these areas can also begin to develop in terms of other
industries.
√ Agricultural development can lead to food security
- agriculture is the food source of nation.
- Philippines is considered to be one of the most biodiverse areas in the world
and the agricultural sector counts for about two-thirds of the country’s
employment.
√ Agriculture is the key to unlock economic self-sufficiency
- Many sectors depend on agriculture to provide raw materials. When the
Philippines can produce high-quality process materials internally, the need
to export these materials will no longer exist.
- √ Agriculture can lead to poverty reduction
- many Filipinos whose source of livelihood is in agriculture are able to bolster
their income and savings.

  • 4. A GLIMPSE OF BARANGAY DOBDOB, VALENCIA, NEG. OR Located in the fourth largest island in the Philippines, Negros Oriental is separated from its sister province by a chain of rugged mountains that extends from the north to the south of the island. It occupies nearly all of eastern Negros facing the Tañon Strait and is strategically located in the heart of the region providing access to markets in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Forming the foundation of investment offerings, Negros Oriental holds broad sweep of lands available for agriculture and development, rich marine life and mineral reserves, diverse nature spots perfect for tourism and a pool of skilled and trainable manpower.
  • 5. A GLIMPSE OF BARANGAY DOBDOB, VALENCIA, NEG. OR Valencia on the other hand, occupies an area of 14,749 hectares , 35% of which are classified as plains. The town is 65% mountainous, with elevation averaging from 200 to 500 meters( 660 to 1,640 ft.) above sea level, with the top of Mount Talinis at an elevation of 1,903 meters (6,243 ft.) along the municipal southern boundary. The climate in the municipality is relatively cool especially at higher elevations. The region is also the most critical area of Negros Oriental, providing abundant supply of water to Valencia and its neighboring municipalities.
  • 6. WHY BARANGAY DOBDOB? √ Strongly affected by Typhoon Sendong and farmlands are widely devastated to date. √ 7 hours away from Valencia and means of transportation is habal2 during rainy days because of the road(rocky and muddy) and vehicles(e.g canter, elf truck, etc.) is also made available during hot seasons. √ Conducted study believes that if Dobdob is developed into agriculture area, there is no need for the whole Dumaguete City to purchase vegetables from other towns like Cebu and Benguet. Self-sufficiency then will be attain. √ The area is really blessed with abundant water for irrigation, sandy loam type of soil which most crops prefer and are very supportive to new technologies introduced by the academme. √ Foundation University faculty visited the area twice and sees the potential as the primary supplier of vegetable(selected) and other goods in the entire Dumaguete.
