officer and analyst Michael Schamis greatly enjoys
cooking. A fan of all genres of gastronomy, Michael
Schamis has tried preparing many types of food,
including French cuisine.
France is well-known for its rich variety of food, and
many of its popular dishes have become common in
American homes. Despite the complex flavor
profiles in classic French dishes, many meals are
relatively easy to make. Following are some of
France’s more traditional dishes that are simple to
produce.
Traditional French Dishes
• 1. A popular bistro salad, light salade aux
lardons brings together greens and fatty bacon.
Topping the dish with a poached egg makes the meal
more substantial, allowing it to be enjoyed as a
supper or brunch.
2. Escargot is a time-honored French delicacy
made from snails and served in a cleaned shell. The
dish, served as an appetizer, is typically prepared in
a garlic butter sauce or accompanied by a side of
sauce for dipping.
Conclusion
• 3. Seasoned with parsley, butter, and salt,
parslied new potatoes are a common French
accompaniment. While there are several ways of
steaming potatoes, they are most often cooked in the
microwave, lessening the number of dishes
generated while still providing a quality side.
4. Bouillabaisse is a vegetable soup served with a
variety of different fish. Typically, the dish is made
with conger, scorpion fish, and monkfish, seasoned
with garlic and saffron, and served with French
bread.
