CT Scan Scenarios
With adding the new CT scanners, the scanning time is drastically reduced, and the CT scan is no
longer the bottleneck. This has put stress on the entire process; however, new inefficiencies with the
process can now be identified. Addressing the inefficiencies within the process will allow the
radiology team increase overall efficiency and complete the maximum amount of scans in a day,
which will lead to an increase in profit for the hospital. To improve the efficiency of the CT process
flow, the first thing that can be done is for the hospital to place a visual aid in the waiting room, such
as a television, showing a list of the first name and last initial of patients who are waiting for scans.
Estimated wait times scan can be placed on the screen for patients so they know when it is their turn
for a scan. When a nurse is ready for the next patient, that patients name can flash on the screen to

For instance, if linens are not necessary for the CT scan a rubber pillow/scan surface that can just be
wiped clean, the cleaning time can be reduced. Utilizing a 5S system to organize the scan rooms,
which would include the cleaning supplies, would help ensure all supplies are in their place and the
nurses would know where they are (Krajewski, Malhotra & Ritzman, 2016). This will help maintain
the flow efficiency. Implementing an auto–refill machine for the contrast injector is a third
improvement that could be made to improve the overall efficiency of the process. This would
eliminate the time needed for the nurse to refill the machine after each patient scan. Depending on
the capacity of the auto–refill machine, a staff member could refill the machine with the contrast die
on a daily or weekly basis, before any patients or seen or at the end of the day after the last patient

Environmental Scan
The concept of environmental scanning is important because of the short term and long term success
of a company. This tool helps companies scan, monitor, evaluate, and forecast the internal and
external parts of the company. In order to obtain an accurate assessment of the internal and external
variables of a company, the business managers would have to use a SWOT analysis to develop
awareness to different of the company. For example, the company could want to measure consumer
behavorior, competitor behavior, and current trends in their marketplace.

Internal and external environments are very important for businesses operating globally due to local
and external competitions. Healthy businesses must analyze their internal and external environments
in their strategy formulation. Strategic planning requires that an organization must initially scan the
environment for the presence of numerous competitors as well as analyzing physical resources and
skills of the workforce. Evaluation of the internal and external environments is then followed by

Companies in the toy industries including Lego have ensured low suppliers' bargaining power.
Retailers play an important role in selling and distributing Lego's company (Hjuler & Robertson,
2009).
Additionally, Lego has huge cost advantage since it does their production in low waged regions as
well as the advantage of economies of scale. Lego also enjoys a vast variety of expertise that enables
them to make competitive decisions. In addition, they have high brand equity that have been created
for a long time. Metcalf & Lafranco (2013), argue that Lego has addressed the issue of threat
brought about by computer games by moving to electronic gaming. Lego enjoys loyal customers
worldwide with exclusive licenses, solid distribution network, financial liberty as well as market
experience.

tools to verify the details of the targeted host.
Significance
The main significance of the analysis of the data is to determine the existing potential vulnerabilities
in a network and to identify the host details. As per the current scenario, there are no tools to analyze
a particular data obtained through scanning. The new or existing tool will help to identify the
potential risk in the existing network of industrial control systems. We can also analyze the infected
host, which is affected by new vulnerability and also can take precautions to overcome this
vulnerability by implementing more security in our devices. Also able to determine the software,

We could then act to protect those areas so that they are not unwanted doors to our critical data.
Once the vulnerability scans are active and in place, I suggest a strong stateful firewall that will
detect infiltration. This firewall should be capable of stateful inspections. Network/Host Intrusion
Detection Systems (IDS) are helpful in alerting of a breach. In addition, an unused ports should be
closed and filter the excess. Firewalls can help with the ports as well as port scanners (EC Council,
2010, p. 3–18). These are recommended administration tools that will defend against network
attacks.
Scanning tools can aid the work on a network on either side. They are comparable guns, they can be
used to harm or protect. Security scanners move through a list of known areas of weakness and
explore each system (Tittle, 2003). There are also IP scanners, audits, and web server scanners
available to add to the protective layers. Attackers' access to tools to assist in their attacks and the
key is to be the best position to prepare for those attacks. Popular among the Black hats are port
scanners similar to Hping2. Used maliciously port scanning is based on a system or rhythm to

Biometric Scanners Technologies Over Passwords And Passphrase
Biometric Scan Technologies
Abstract
At present day's usage of computers, laptops, mobile phones and security systems increasing day by
day. In order to protect the data from unauthorized access authentication is necessary. The most
common methodology used for authentication are passwords and passcodes which has some
disadvantages. To overcome the disadvantages of Passwords and Passcodes, Biometric Scan
Technologies are introduced. Biometric scan Technologies are most advanced and reliable
authentication techniques than Passwords and Passcode authentication methods. In this paper we
discuss the importance of Biometrics Scan Technologies over Passwords and Passphrase.
Introduction
The most important part in the Data Security is Authentication of user. The authentication is a
process of verifying the identity of the users based on the credentials (username and passwords). "In
security systems, Authentication is distinct from authorization which is the process of giving
individuals access to system objects on their identity "(3). Authentication merely ensures that
individual is who he or she claims to be, but says nothing about the access rights of the individual
discussion. Passwords and passcodes are used to authenticate devices. Biometric scan technology
are recently introduced to authenticate the users by finger prints, retina scanner and facial scanner.
The reliability and security of the Biometric scan methods is superior to the Password Technology.

Diagnosing A CAT Scan
What Is a CAT Scan?
The CAT in CAT scan stands for computed axial tomography. Also known as a CT scan, the main
thing for you to know about this technology is that it takes multiple scanned images that are each a
small "slice" of the overall image desired. These individual images are then assembled in a
computer to give one of our veterinary neurology professionals a detailed image of the organ or
other body part that we are examining to help us make a diagnosis.
Why Would My Dog Need a CAT Scan?
As mentioned, a CAT or CT scan is used as a diagnostic tool. We typically use it when a more
thorough analysis of a suspected problem is needed. Neck pain in dogs is a common reason for this
scanning procedure to be used.
If a dog is reluctant to turn their head or if you notice they are keeping their head in an abnormal
position, this can indicate neck pain in dogs. Such behaviors are a sign of atlantoaxial luxation in
dogs. Most common in small or toy breed dogs, atlantoaxial luxation is when a bone malformation
in your dog causes a dislocation, which in turn causes a compression of their spinal cord.
A CAT scan is also useful for diagnosing IVDD in dogs. This stands for intervertebral disk disease.
Certain breeds are more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gives us a diagnostic edge over other veterinary hospitals across South Florida. As far as
preparation is concerned, the biggest consideration is to ensure your pet stops eating as of the night
before the scan. On the day of the scan, your pet' s blood work is taken, and then we give them
anesthesia because it is critical that they do not move during the scan to ensure accurate imagery.
This type of scanning is safer than X–rays given that it does not use

Target opened its doors under the current brand name on May 1, 1962 ("Target", 2015). In business
for over fifty years is not by accident, but as a result of innovative leadership. The organization's
leadership has effectively steered the company through many changes by understanding its
competitive advantage through internal analysis. In order to deliver service and merchandise at the
standard established in the beginning, management must constantly assess the environment. Target's
leadership monitors its stores for the following, appearance, access, competitive pricing, trendy
merchandise, and customer service. Target's advantage is its appeal to the shopper who want quality
merchandise for retail prices. The discount retailer was the first to offer designer clothing, which set
them apart from discount giants Kmart and Walmart. The organization created competitive
advantage through exceptional marketing techniques in and outside their stores, quality clothing,

Just as Target must understand its internal environment, the same applies to understanding external
factors. Competitors large and small pose an external threat, due to lower prices, weekly sales,
customer service, and long standing brand notoriety. As a result, leadership must constantly monitor
the competition to ensure they offer customers the same and more as it applies to prices,

When And How A CT Scan Is Done For Breast Cancer
Your doctor as a variety of tests to rely on for diagnosing breast cancer and to identify its stage. One
of those tests is the CT scan. A CT scan is a type of X–ray that allows your doctor to see inside your
body. It reveals more information than a standard X–ray, and it produces images in 2D so your
doctor can more easily pick up on tumors and metastasized cancer. Here is an overview of when and
how the test is done.

The machine is operated by a computer that takes the information and creates images your doctor
can see printed out or on a monitor. To make the images more detailed, you'll be given a solution

so your doctor may order lab tests ahead of the CT scan to make sure your kidneys are functioning

A health professional positions you on a table for the test. The table slides into the machine, which is

you probably won't have a full–body scan. Instead, your doctor may focus on the head, chest, or

If your breast cancer has spread, you may have a CT scan at some point before, during, or after your
treatment. However, you probably won't have a scan of your breasts. Instead, your doctor will rely
on the test to monitor your liver, brain, lungs, and spine for the development of metastasized cancer.

The Importance Of EEG Scans
Electroencephalographic (EEG) scanning techniques rely on the use of electrodes to record neural
activity. This is recorded using brain waves to look for abnormalities within the brain. EEG's have
helped in the understanding of abnormalities found within the brains of those suffering from
depressive and anxiety disorders. Research has found evidence that associates negative moods and
depression with hyperactivity of the right hemisphere (Henriques& Davidson, 1991;Flor–Henry et
al., 2004;Hecht 2010). Researchers also found a positive correlation between the severity of the
depressive disorder and hyperactive activity within the right hemisphere (Grimm et al., 2008; Hecht,
2016). The non–invasive nature of EEG's allows patients to undergo a ... Show more content on

Furthermore, findings exhibited evidence of right hemispheric dominance during the completion of
n–back tasks (Fitzgerald et al 2007). These findings link right hemispheric dominance with previous
theory regarding the right hemispheres role in depression and mood regulation and also supports the
findings from EEG research discussed earlier in this essay. The main advantage of using fMRI's in
research is that when used correctly it is virtually risk free as unlike other brain scanning techniques
such as CT's and X–rays it doesn't involve the use of radiation. This is a strength as patients are kept
safe when undergoing brain scans such as these and therefore fMRI's provide a relatively more
ethical alternative method of investigating brain structure and function. However not only are
fMRI's expensive, they're conducted in enclosed spaces and therefore for patients who are
claustrophobic and/or suffer from mental disorders may become distressed within the process and
this therefore may have implications for the results, decreasing the reliability of the findings.
Additionally, fMRI's poor temporal resolution means that patients must remain completely still in
order for scanning to work which may cause problems when investigating cognitive function in
children for example as they may find it difficult to remain

Los Angeles police are using biometrical recognition now. Biometrics, the ability to indentify an
individual by measuring key unique biophysical attributes, such as a picture of the iris could
revolutionize the policing. If we step back on the history, the twentieth century saw fingerprinting
become an invaluable forensic tool, such as iris pattern–matching or facial recognition could have

The Security, Legal, Ethical, Social And Responsibility...
Legality of Port Scanning Kevin Zheng Abstract In this paper I will discuss the security, legal,
ethical, social and responsibility issues of port scanning. The tool being covered in this exam being
used for port scanning is called nmap. Several options will be dicussed on how to use the tool. Then
there will be some discussion on the legal cases that was centered around port scanning. At the end
is a discussion on my opinions of port scanning over all. Introduction Port scanning has many issue
surrounding it. Port scanning is "one of the most fundamental techniques that a hacker can use to
being an attack. Many systems can reveal vast amounts of infrmaiton from being scanned."
(Jamieson, 2001, p. 2). Ports are essentially connection pathways that services use to communicate
on the internet. Ports are similar to telephone numbers in a commercial building. A building may
have one number, however to reach specific people inside, your call may be rerouted to a person's
extension in order to get connected to that person. A port scanning is essentially calling a building or
business and then trying to reach all possible extensions and see who answers. If the person does not
pick up, you may hear in their voicemail who they are. In port scanning, an attacker may be
scanning the entire range of ports, or extensions, from port 0 to port 65535. There are generally a
few standard ports that are tied to

Thank you very much for referring Gerard along for further investigation of his haemoptysis in the
setting of his abnormal CT scan of his chest. As you are aware, about ten days ago, he noticed that
he was bringing up a little bit of sputum with some blood. It was bright red blood and only a small
amount in the morning and a little bit throughout the day, but no more than 10ml overall. This has
persisted over that time and is in the absence of any symptoms of infection. He has not noticed any
shortness of breath nor any wheeze and has not had any loss of weight. On reflection he has noticed
some night sweats.

Thank you very much for organising the CT scan. Looking at the images today, there is an
abnormality in the right upper lobe of concern. It is 5cm x 3cm x 3cm and it is speculated with some
ground glass opacities and some air bronchograms. There is also an enlarged 2cm right pretracheal

PET Scan Analysis
The technology that is being investigated is the PET scan. The PET scan functions as a result of the
specific atomic properties of positrons which are subatomic particles that have the opposite charge
of electrons but the same mass. The PET scanner detects these positrons which are emanated by the
radioactive chemicals attached to a chemical the body naturally metabolizes (Positron Emission
Tomography, 2014). The PET scan is used in the fields of oncology, neurology, and cardiology to
determine the flow of blood, the functionality of the organs, the health of heart tissue, the movement
of cancer, and so forth (Positron Emission Tomography, n.d.). This technology works by inserting
the patient with a radioactive material through injection,

Short Story Of Dystopia
John lives with his wife, patricia and a daughter named sia in a big, fancy mansion. John and
patricia own the best coffee shop in the town, dystopia. Sia loves the pumpkin spice latte with
strawberry whip cream. The coffee shop became popular when sia was born five years ago, 2116.
The chocklit family do grocery shopping in macadame loft for their coffee shop. Everyone in 2121
in Dystopia pay with their face. There are security scanning machines with facial recognition
system. Everyone pays with their face in the coffee shop. One day, a young man ordered a
chocolate, whipped cappucino and almost walked out the door.
John saw the man running away and hit the star screw laser to lock the exit doors. The man touched
the door and got shocked and fell down. John caught him and tied him up to a chair. He asked him
why he did not pay. The man started to cry and asked for forgiveness. He wanted a refreshing drink
and said he could not afford it. Patricia got teeny mag to scan the man's face. John used the device to
scan his face that he was supposed to pay with. All the details and record of the man came up.
Brown eyes, brown hair, 5 feet and 11 inches tall, born and lives in Dystopia and unemployed,
David Rafany. There was a gloomy and sympathetic impression on John's face. John decided
without hesitation, offered David a job at the coffee shop until he is able to stand up on his feet.
Patricia introduced all rules to David and said he will be supervised at all times. He was grateful and
praised them. John finally untied him. John tried to scan the man's face so many times but did not
work. The alarm went off and the alarm heat up. He dropped it and the device blew up. Smoke
everywhere, customers ran out and the fire began to spread within the shop. Patricia pushed the red
knob to call fire rescuers. Fire rescuers rushed in and destroyed all the face scan payment devices.
"Oh no! These devices are out of control" Sia said. David apologized.

Role and Side–Effects of a PET Scan
As a diagnosis and imaging procedure, PET has many uses in the medical field [23]. Its most
common utilization being related to oncological detection [23]. However, a PET scan is also used to
determine the malignancy of a tumor, or to establish the stage that a particular cancer has reached
[23]. This information is ascertainable due to observations about the metabolic uptake of the glucose
radiotracer [23]. A PET scan is utilized to detect all types of cancers, from lymphoma to melanoma,
and from breast to bladder [24].
Clinical applications of PET in neurological and cardiological fields do also exist [2]. For example,
joint PET and CT brain scans are used to diagnose Alzheimer's disease (see figure 10) [18]. Other

The radioactive Fluorine – 18 in the prevalent radiotracer FDG, also only yields the stable element
Oxygen – 18 when it decays [56]. Oxygen – 18 being non–toxic with no negative health
implications [56]. The neutrino released as a result of the Beta Plus Decay of Fluorine – 18 is also
non–ionizing, as it very rarely interacts with the body [57]. Subsequently there no known health
implications associated with its emission [57]. Fluorine –18 also has a short half–life of only 109.8
minutes, meaning that it does not stay in the body for long after ingestion [58]. Such factors mean
that there are no serious short or long term impacts associated with PET [48]. Allergic reactions to
the radiotracer however are known (see figure 12), but incredibly rare [48], and the only realistic
documented side effect associated with PET is the potential: bleeding, soreness, or swelling, that is
associated with the intravenous injection of the radiotracer [48]. However, this minor possible
consequence is an unavoidable necessity of the procedure

The use of modern technology dominates western medicine. These machines allow physician to
make fast and more precise diagnoses. One machine in particular, the Computed Tomography (CT)
scan has revolutionized modern medicine. The usefulness of CT scan in modern medicine will be
further explored below. The CT scan is a machine that uses 360–degree x–ray beam and computer to
produce images that allows for cross–sectional views of body organs. Hage and Atkins indicated that
the CT scan debuted in the 1970s; however, it was not until the 1990s when the machine became
more affordable that the use of the CT scan become more popular. The affordability of the machine
has turned it into a hot commodity in all modern hospitals and even outpatient services. ... Show

In order for CT scan to compute relevant images, ionizing ration must be used. People who are
exposed to radiation are at a higher risk of developing cancer. Consequently, physicians must work
diligently to minimize the amount of radiation that patients are exposed to. In order to so, there are
several steps that clinicians can take. The steps are as indicated: the referring physician should be
asked to justify the need for the radiation exposure; when an alternative to non–ionizing tool can be
used, it should be used instead of CT; previously done images should never be repeated, but instead
the results should be obtained to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure; education of referring
clinicians, radiologist and the performing technicians regarding radiation doses; ensure scanner
settings and parameters set to ensure lowest dose to achieve diagnostic images in all age ranges (
Stoodley and Phillip p.135). If these steps are followed, radiation exposure can be reduced while
providing modernize care to patients. CT scan has positively changed modern medicine, despite the
negative impact of radiation exposure that is associated with it. The advantages to using CT scan as
explained above exceeds the disadvantages. It can be concluded that CT scans will continue to be
used in modern medicine until a better machine that can provide the

Introduction
There are many different options for pregnant women regarding screening for trisomy 21. There are
two more common types of tests available, nuchal translucency ultrasound with biochemistry testing
in the first trimester, and cell–free DNA testing starting at 10 weeks until delivery. With these
options come many questions about which one is more accurate in ... Show more content on

The information found is supported by evidence and is the same we use in our practice. The problem
is that insurance companies will pay for standard screening with Nuchal Translucency, but they will
not pay for cell–free DNA testing unless the standard screening comes back high risk, the patient is
advanced maternal age, or has a history of a previous birth affected by aneuploidy. Cell–free DNA
testing includes X Y analysis, so the patient is able to find out the sex of the baby around 10 weeks.
This is becoming a popular request just to find out the gender. Insurance companies have now
caught on to this trend, and are refusing to pay for the X Y analysis of the cell–free DNA test, which
does include specific abnormalities associated with X Y abnormalities. Medicaid will cover the
standard screening, but will not pay for cell free DNA testing. We have 3 patients at high risk and
have done prior authorizations through Medicaid, they still refuse to cover. One being a patient who
tested high risk for trisomy 21 on her standard screening, one who is advanced maternal age, and
one who had a previous pregnancy with a child with Down

There have been many technological advancements in the last decade in modern science. These
invention has allowed scientists to see varies things that cannot be seen by the naked. The "black
box" that is our brain is so mysterious and one of the hardest organ to evaluate but with invention of
FMR, Vivo two–photon, ECoG, EMG and etc. researching the brain has become a lot easier than
before. In this study, to test the hypothesis that b–amyloid clearance is increased during sleep and if
the sleep–wake cycle regulates the glympathic clearance an experiment was conducted using Vivo
two–photon, ECoG, EMG and etc. which allow for experiments to trace CSF movement and analyze
the arousal state of the mice. However, based on the historical period of this study, there is another
better alternative technique that could be used by the experimenters to test the hypothesis, such as

The Importance Of Scans In Research
This research strictly used adult volunteers above the age of 18. Patients from the University of
South Alabama Medical Center were used to acquire data for the trial. The research was conducted
outside of the educational clinical time during the hospital's appropriate hours. A plan was made
prior with the two sonographers to make everything run smoothly when the scans took place; times
to conduct the research were arranged at the hospital in order to reach the highest productivity for
the research. For instance, one stayed in contact with the sonographers regarding daily schedules;
this made it easier on the sonographers so that acquiring data was organized and not sporadic. A low
frequency curved array transducer was used in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the scans, patients were in either a supine or supine oblique position; the latter was majorly used
during the scans due to the location of each kidney. Two experienced sonographers scanned the
same, multiple patients in assistance with the research; these were the only sonographers to aid in
the process in order to have consistent scanning techniques. The sonographers took the time out of
their busy schedule in order to complete the data found. The sampling selection was conducted on
the basis of what would not restrict the research's outcome; a pure collection of data is ideal to
support the research. Gender was equally represented throughout to make sure the samples of data
are fair and to not sway the data. Another reason gender was an issue was due to the fact that there
tends to be a slight difference in kidney sizes. By comparison, females tend to have relatively
smaller kidneys compared to that of the male population (Arooj, 2000). Some factors, however,
were limited in order to receive consistent data. For instance, patients with chronic renal disease
were exempted because the kidneys' sizes tend to be reduced from the original size; this could cause
outliers to exist, which would be an error on the trial. On the other hand, race, height, and weight
were not limited; these demographics would not cause a major difference in the measurements
collected. The design for the research

T-Scan Study
How Can Organizations Keep Up Their Scan? A. Ensure your "dashboard" of info is accessible and
correlated. It is pointless having all the "direction" info without the "altitude" info. If this means
your vital "T–Scan" items must be accessible to all employees in your organization, then do that. If
it means timed reminders of "sign–offs" need to be gained by key members after viewing the
organizational "T–Scans," then have this system set up. B. Allow for training and understanding of
all team members in these scans. You may miss something, but your "co–pilot" may pick it up. If all
the vital team members are trained to not only read the data in front of them but also extrapolate the
data into what it means for other members of the team, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically, this means that there was no catastrophic cause for the crash, such as a wing falling off,
but rather the crew flew into the terrain unaware of where they were located. In fact, had we been so
unfortunate as to crash into the side of the mountain that day in question, it would have been, in fact,
a CFIT. One particular case of CFIT was caused by the crew not trusting their instruments. It took
place in the United States, where an experienced crew of two pilots conducted a night flight from
the West Coast. They took off into a very dark night, as there was very little ambient light from the
moon or external lights. And a physiological effect of flying made the situation more risky. Now,
from a physiological perspective, each of us as human beings has what scientists call proprioceptors,
which are located all over our body and assist us in feeling, touching, and maintaining balance. We
also have fluid in sections of the inner ear that assist us in balance. The function of these two areas–
the inner ear and the proprioceptors–are normally affected when drinking alcohol and can be blamed
for the "spinning" sensation one gets when drunk. From a flight perspective, there is a commonly
known effect called "inversion illusion," whereby during night flying the proprioceptors in your
lower back and backside feed the incorrect information to the inner ear. This misalignment causes
pilots to feel as if they are pulling

PET Scan History
PET Scan
Up until the 1970's, physicians had access to several different imaging systems such as CT
(Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), but these types of imaging only
allowed physicians to see the internal structures of the body, not how they functioned. With the
advent of PET, the physicians are now able to see and record these functions.
PET stands for Positron emission tomography. PET is a medical diagnostic imaging procedure that
uses nuclear medicine in a noninvasive way and is virtually painless. It provides physicians with the
ability to visualize the cellular and molecular functions of the tissue and organs inside the body. (1)

The topic of brains scans, drug use and teenagers has been of much interest to many experimenters.
Drug use can be defined as continues use of alcohol, illegal drugs or the misuse of over–the–counter
drugs or prescription drugs leading to negative consequences. This is done by the use of brain scans,
including MRI scans; also know as magnetic resonance imaging. This type of brain scan allows
scientist to see detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body by a technique that uses a
magnetic field and radio waves. The magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in the body
and is able to show brain activity. The main point of this type of study is to help predict what a

Just with a glance, the popular media article is one page long, briefly describing the participants,
methods, and results with little detail, while the empirical is eleven pages long going into detail
about the participants, methods, and results. The popular media article also uses people friendly
language that could be understood by anyone, whereas the empirical article uses more scientific
vocabulary that would make it harder for just anyone to understand if they had no knowledge in the
field of biopsychology. For example, the popular media article says on page one, "This could mean
that either the drugs suppress their brain activity or less brain activity in the reward center leads
them to take drugs." In the empirical article it states, "These findings suggest that diminished neural
responses to anticipated rewards in novelty–seeking adolescents may increase vulnerability to future
problematic drug use." From reading these two sentences, the empirical article is wordier and
contains phrases that most people would not understand, such as, "diminished neural responses."
They're also different in that the empirical article had more findings with statistics then the popular
media article. Another difference was the method of the study during the gathering of the
neuroimaging data. For the popular media article the researchers had the participants play a
"Monetary Incentive Delay Task" during the MRI scan while the empirical article had the
participants to use a modified version of the Monetary Incentive Delay task (MID), which had them

CT scan is a computerized tomography, it is when slices of images are put together to make up a
three–dimensional image of the body produced using an advanced x–ray. It is used to diagnose
medical diseases. It has improved widely to provide comfort to patients as the scan can be done
quickly. It displays high–resolution images assisting doctors to make diagnosis. For example, the CT
scan can help doctors to visualize small nodules or tumors, which they cannot see with a plain film
X–ray.
Abdominal
Abdominal CT scans are used when a doctor suspects that something might be wrong in the
abdominal area but can't find enough information through a physical exam or lab tests. Some of the
reasons your doctor may want you to have an abdominal CT scan include: abdominal pain, a mass in
your abdomen that you can feel, kidney stones (to check for size and location of the stones),
unexplained weight loss, infections, such as appendicitis.
The side effects of an abdominal CT scan are most often caused by a reaction to any contrast used.
In most cases, they're mild. However, if they become more severe, you should call your doctor right
away.
Side effects of barium contrast can include: abdominal cramping, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting,
constipation. Side effects of iodine contrast can include: skin rash or hives, itching, headache. ...

The main competitive advantage of Amazon is the ability to provide a large variety of product and
services at an extremely low price. Environmental Scanning & SWOTT Analysis In the
previously stated companies, each one has a distinct competitive advantage and strategies that
enable them to be successful within the industry. Environmental scanning helps an organization
observe its environment for external and internal issues that can affect the functionality of the
company. By observing the environment, an organization can plan for its future needs. Each of the
previously stated companies does environmental scanning on a continual basis to stay ahead of the
competition. When an organization conducts an environmental scan a team is formed that is
composed of various experts within the organization. Usually, the members are the representatives
of the key departments within the organization. The expert's positions may include mid–level
managers, employees within the company, and front line supervisors. The specific selection of the
team members is done to identify problematic issues that may affect the company. Once the team is
formed, each member handles one or more internal or external factor. The team members make a list
of factors that are relevant and the data that proves why those factors are relevant. The team
exchanges information and compiles a complete list of factors. The external sources of data include

V-Scan Ultrasound
ABSTRACT With the progress of technology, portable ultrasound technology has no doubt become
one of the most effective, convenient, fast and accurate means of advance technology within health
care today. Furthermore, ultrasound has a unique advantage of real time imaging, equipment
portability, safety and low cost. The portable ultrasound technology has flourished over the past
years with an increase in competition. Additionally, there is evidence that this market is growing at a
rapid rate and aiming towards expansion into new territories. V–scan is the way forward for the
future of portable ultrasound technology; it is a state of art technology, small, light and easy to carry.
All the currently available portable ultrasound technologies are priced heavily making them unfit for
private use. Usage V–scan is a handheld pocket–sized ultrasound tool which displays real–time
movement and produces high–quality images of internal organs. V–scan enables speedy
examinations and is used for abdominal, urological, cardiac, obstetric and paediatric scanning hence,
doctors are able to more quickly identify blood flow problems or heart ... Show more content on

Images that are generated from the V–scan cannot be uploaded to the hospital picture archiving and
communication system. In addition to this, the battery life is limited; images produced from the V–
scan are less detailed in comparison to the full echocardiograms. There are some dangers associated
with the use of V–scan technology; it is unable to detect abnormal results. As a result, the visual
detection is inadequate to determine the presence of lipemia as well as haemolysis in whole blood
samples; therefore, it can contribute to impaired results. Additionally, the misuse of the V–scan
technology could adversely affect patients, resulting in wrong treatment and potentially life–
threatening

CT Scan Scenarios

  • 1. CT Scan Scenarios With adding the new CT scanners, the scanning time is drastically reduced, and the CT scan is no longer the bottleneck. This has put stress on the entire process; however, new inefficiencies with the process can now be identified. Addressing the inefficiencies within the process will allow the radiology team increase overall efficiency and complete the maximum amount of scans in a day, which will lead to an increase in profit for the hospital. To improve the efficiency of the CT process flow, the first thing that can be done is for the hospital to place a visual aid in the waiting room, such as a television, showing a list of the first name and last initial of patients who are waiting for scans. Estimated wait times scan can be placed on the screen for patients so they know when it is their turn for a scan. When a nurse is ready for the next patient, that patients name can flash on the screen to let the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, if linens are not necessary for the CT scan a rubber pillow/scan surface that can just be wiped clean, the cleaning time can be reduced. Utilizing a 5S system to organize the scan rooms, which would include the cleaning supplies, would help ensure all supplies are in their place and the nurses would know where they are (Krajewski, Malhotra & Ritzman, 2016). This will help maintain the flow efficiency. Implementing an auto–refill machine for the contrast injector is a third improvement that could be made to improve the overall efficiency of the process. This would eliminate the time needed for the nurse to refill the machine after each patient scan. Depending on the capacity of the auto–refill machine, a staff member could refill the machine with the contrast die on a daily or weekly basis, before any patients or seen or at the end of the day after the last patient has been ... Once the vulnerability scans are active and in place, I suggest a strong stateful firewall that will detect infiltration. This firewall should be capable of stateful inspections. Network/Host Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are helpful in alerting of a breach. In addition, an unused ports should be closed and filter the excess. Firewalls can help with the ports as well as port scanners (EC Council, 2010, p. 3–18). These are recommended administration tools that will defend against network attacks. Scanning tools can aid the work on a network on either side. They are comparable guns, they can be used to harm or protect. Security scanners move through a list of known areas of weakness and explore each system (Tittle, 2003). • 19. Biometric Scanners Technologies Over Passwords And Passphrase Biometric Scan Technologies Abstract At present day's usage of computers, laptops, mobile phones and security systems increasing day by day. In order to protect the data from unauthorized access authentication is necessary. The most common methodology used for authentication are passwords and passcodes which has some disadvantages. To overcome the disadvantages of Passwords and Passcodes, Biometric Scan Technologies are introduced. Biometric scan Technologies are most advanced and reliable authentication techniques than Passwords and Passcode authentication methods. In this paper we discuss the importance of Biometrics Scan Technologies over Passwords and Passphrase. Introduction The most important part in the Data Security is Authentication of user. The authentication is a process of verifying the identity of the users based on the credentials (username and passwords). "In security systems, Authentication is distinct from authorization which is the process of giving individuals access to system objects on their identity "(3). Authentication merely ensures that individual is who he or she claims to be, but says nothing about the access rights of the individual discussion. Passwords and passcodes are used to authenticate devices. Biometric scan technology are recently introduced to authenticate the users by finger prints, retina scanner and facial scanner. The reliability and security of the Biometric scan methods is superior to the Password Technology. Passwords and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Diagnosing A CAT Scan What Is a CAT Scan? The CAT in CAT scan stands for computed axial tomography. Also known as a CT scan, the main thing for you to know about this technology is that it takes multiple scanned images that are each a small "slice" of the overall image desired. These individual images are then assembled in a computer to give one of our veterinary neurology professionals a detailed image of the organ or other body part that we are examining to help us make a diagnosis. Why Would My Dog Need a CAT Scan? As mentioned, a CAT or CT scan is used as a diagnostic tool. We typically use it when a more thorough analysis of a suspected problem is needed. Neck pain in dogs is a common reason for this scanning procedure to be used. If a dog is reluctant to turn their head or if you notice they are keeping their head in an abnormal position, this can indicate neck pain in dogs. Such behaviors are a sign of atlantoaxial luxation in dogs. Most common in small or toy breed dogs, atlantoaxial luxation is when a bone malformation in your dog causes a dislocation, which in turn causes a compression of their spinal cord. A CAT scan is also useful for diagnosing IVDD in dogs. This stands for intervertebral disk disease. Certain breeds are more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to deliver service and merchandise at the standard established in the beginning, management must constantly assess the environment. Target's leadership monitors its stores for the following, appearance, access, competitive pricing, trendy merchandise, and customer service. Target's advantage is its appeal to the shopper who want quality merchandise for retail prices. The discount retailer was the first to offer designer clothing, which set them apart from discount giants Kmart and Walmart. The organization created competitive advantage through exceptional marketing techniques in and outside their stores, quality clothing, and home décor. Just as Target must understand its internal environment, the same applies to understanding external factors. One of those tests is the CT scan. A CT scan is a type of X–ray that allows your doctor to see inside your body. It reveals more information than a standard X–ray, and it produces images in 2D so your doctor can more easily pick up on tumors and metastasized cancer. Here is an overview of when and how the test is done. • 27. The Importance Of EEG Scans Electroencephalographic (EEG) scanning techniques rely on the use of electrodes to record neural activity. This is recorded using brain waves to look for abnormalities within the brain. EEG's have helped in the understanding of abnormalities found within the brains of those suffering from depressive and anxiety disorders. Research has found evidence that associates negative moods and depression with hyperactivity of the right hemisphere (Henriques& Davidson, 1991;Flor–Henry et al., 2004;Hecht 2010). Researchers also found a positive correlation between the severity of the depressive disorder and hyperactive activity within the right hemisphere (Grimm et al., 2008; Hecht, 2016). The non–invasive nature of EEG's allows patients to undergo a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, findings exhibited evidence of right hemispheric dominance during the completion of n–back tasks (Fitzgerald et al 2007). These findings link right hemispheric dominance with previous theory regarding the right hemispheres role in depression and mood regulation and also supports the findings from EEG research discussed earlier in this essay. The main advantage of using fMRI's in research is that when used correctly it is virtually risk free as unlike other brain scanning techniques such as CT's and X–rays it doesn't involve the use of radiation. This is a strength as patients are kept safe when undergoing brain scans such as these and therefore fMRI's provide a relatively more ethical alternative method of investigating brain structure and function. However not only are fMRI's expensive, they're conducted in enclosed spaces and therefore for patients who are claustrophobic and/or suffer from mental disorders may become distressed within the process and this therefore may have implications for the results, decreasing the reliability of the findings. Additionally, fMRI's poor temporal resolution means that patients must remain completely still in order for scanning to work which may cause problems when investigating cognitive function in children for example as they may find it difficult to remain ... Then there will be some discussion on the legal cases that was centered around port scanning. At the end is a discussion on my opinions of port scanning over all. Introduction Port scanning has many issue surrounding it. Port scanning is "one of the most fundamental techniques that a hacker can use to being an attack. Many systems can reveal vast amounts of infrmaiton from being scanned." (Jamieson, 2001, p. 2). Ports are essentially connection pathways that services use to communicate on the internet. Ports are similar to telephone numbers in a commercial building. A building may have one number, however to reach specific people inside, your call may be rerouted to a person's extension in order to get connected to that person. A port scanning is essentially calling a building or business and then trying to reach all possible extensions and see who answers. If the person does not pick up, you may hear in their voicemail who they are. In port scanning, an attacker may be scanning the entire range of ports, or extensions, from port 0 to port 65535. In order for CT scan to compute relevant images, ionizing ration must be used. People who are exposed to radiation are at a higher risk of developing cancer. Consequently, physicians must work diligently to minimize the amount of radiation that patients are exposed to. In order to so, there are several steps that clinicians can take. The steps are as indicated: the referring physician should be asked to justify the need for the radiation exposure; when an alternative to non–ionizing tool can be used, it should be used instead of CT; previously done images should never be repeated, but instead the results should be obtained to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure; education of referring clinicians, radiologist and the performing technicians regarding radiation doses; ensure scanner settings and parameters set to ensure lowest dose to achieve diagnostic images in all age ranges ( Stoodley and Phillip p.135). If these steps are followed, radiation exposure can be reduced while providing modernize care to patients. This is probably because I was focusing on when the exercise would finish instead of actually being at the moment with the body scan. Later on, I got better at it. I noticed how my abdomen was going up and down while I was focusing on breathing. I was pushing away any thought that would wander into my mind. At the end of this exercise, I would feel good. I just feel calm. At the end of week 2, I notice that I will be going back and forth with being at the moment. I remember it felt good when I was walking our family dog Lola one day. Patients from the University of South Alabama Medical Center were used to acquire data for the trial. The research was conducted outside of the educational clinical time during the hospital's appropriate hours. A plan was made prior with the two sonographers to make everything run smoothly when the scans took place; times to conduct the research were arranged at the hospital in order to reach the highest productivity for the research. For instance, one stayed in contact with the sonographers regarding daily schedules; this made it easier on the sonographers so that acquiring data was organized and not sporadic. For the scans, patients were in either a supine or supine oblique position; the latter was majorly used during the scans due to the location of each kidney. Two experienced sonographers scanned the same, multiple patients in assistance with the research; these were the only sonographers to aid in the process in order to have consistent scanning techniques. The sonographers took the time out of their busy schedule in order to complete the data found. The sampling selection was conducted on the basis of what would not restrict the research's outcome; a pure collection of data is ideal to support the research. Gender was equally represented throughout to make sure the samples of data are fair and to not sway the data. Another reason gender was an issue was due to the fact that there tends to be a slight difference in kidney sizes. By comparison, females tend to have relatively smaller kidneys compared to that of the male population (Arooj, 2000). Some factors, however, were limited in order to receive consistent data. For instance, patients with chronic renal disease were exempted because the kidneys' sizes tend to be reduced from the original size; this could cause outliers to exist, which would be an error on the trial. On the other hand, race, height, and weight were not limited; these demographics would not cause a major difference in the measurements collected. The design for the research ... It is pointless having all the "direction" info without the "altitude" info. If this means your vital "T–Scan" items must be accessible to all employees in your organization, then do that. If it means timed reminders of "sign–offs" need to be gained by key members after viewing the organizational "T–Scans," then have this system set up. B. Allow for training and understanding of all team members in these scans. You may miss something, but your "co–pilot" may pick it up. If all the vital team members are trained to not only read the data in front of them but also extrapolate the data into what it means for other members of the team, ... Basically, this means that there was no catastrophic cause for the crash, such as a wing falling off, but rather the crew flew into the terrain unaware of where they were located. In fact, had we been so unfortunate as to crash into the side of the mountain that day in question, it would have been, in fact, a CFIT. One particular case of CFIT was caused by the crew not trusting their instruments. It took place in the United States, where an experienced crew of two pilots conducted a night flight from the West Coast. They took off into a very dark night, as there was very little ambient light from the moon or external lights. And a physiological effect of flying made the situation more risky. Now, from a physiological perspective, each of us as human beings has what scientists call proprioceptors, which are located all over our body and assist us in feeling, touching, and maintaining balance. We also have fluid in sections of the inner ear that assist us in balance. The function of these two areas– the inner ear and the proprioceptors–are normally affected when drinking alcohol and can be blamed for the "spinning" sensation one gets when drunk. From a flight perspective, there is a commonly known effect called "inversion illusion," whereby during night flying the proprioceptors in your lower back and backside feed the incorrect information to the inner ear. This misalignment causes pilots to feel as if they are pulling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PET Scan History PET Scan Up until the 1970's, physicians had access to several different imaging systems such as CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), but these types of imaging only allowed physicians to see the internal structures of the body, not how they functioned. With the advent of PET, the physicians are now able to see and record these functions. PET stands for Positron emission tomography. PET is a medical diagnostic imaging procedure that uses nuclear medicine in a noninvasive way and is virtually painless. It provides physicians with the ability to visualize the cellular and molecular functions of the tissue and organs inside the body. Drug use can be defined as continues use of alcohol, illegal drugs or the misuse of over–the–counter drugs or prescription drugs leading to negative consequences. This is done by the use of brain scans, including MRI scans; also know as magnetic resonance imaging. This type of brain scan allows scientist to see detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body by a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves. The magnetic field temporarily realigns hydrogen atoms in the body and is able to show brain activity. The popular media article also uses people friendly language that could be understood by anyone, whereas the empirical article uses more scientific vocabulary that would make it harder for just anyone to understand if they had no knowledge in the field of biopsychology. For example, the popular media article says on page one, "This could mean that either the drugs suppress their brain activity or less brain activity in the reward center leads them to take drugs." In the empirical article it states, "These findings suggest that diminished neural responses to anticipated rewards in novelty–seeking adolescents may increase vulnerability to future problematic drug use." From reading these two sentences, the empirical article is wordier and contains phrases that most people would not understand, such as, "diminished neural responses." They're also different in that the empirical article had more findings with statistics then the popular media article. Another difference was the method of the study during the gathering of the neuroimaging data. For the popular media article the researchers had the participants play a "Monetary Incentive Delay Task" during the MRI scan while the empirical article had the participants to use a modified version of the Monetary Incentive Delay task (MID), which had them pressing one of two buttons. Both articles are similar in that they used one hundred and forty four adolescents. It is used to diagnose medical diseases. It has improved widely to provide comfort to patients as the scan can be done quickly. It displays high–resolution images assisting doctors to make diagnosis. For example, the CT scan can help doctors to visualize small nodules or tumors, which they cannot see with a plain film X–ray. Abdominal Abdominal CT scans are used when a doctor suspects that something might be wrong in the abdominal area but can't find enough information through a physical exam or lab tests. Some of the reasons your doctor may want you to have an abdominal CT scan include: abdominal pain, a mass in your abdomen that you can feel, kidney stones (to check for size and location of the stones), unexplained weight loss, infections, such as appendicitis. The side effects of an abdominal CT scan are most often caused by a reaction to any contrast used. In most cases, they're mild.
