we show the results of our own research on how inoculation of bacteria strains and organic compounds affect or sometimes boost black truffle mycelium in nursery and plantations.

Tuber melanosporum mycelium concentration varies with
bacteria and organic compounds treatments
EXPERIMENT DESIGN
8 bacterial treatmanet (TR1-TR9), 6 organic compounds (TR10-TR15) and 1
control (TR4).
We established 15 lots of 10 trees each (60 trees/lot for nursery trials) in 3
places: IRTA nursery, 3,5 years old plantation in Batea (Tarragona) & 10 years
old plantation in Barcelona.
3 months later we quantified qith Real Time PCR the concentration of black
truffle mycelium in each treatment.
We´ll corralate as well concentration of truffle mycelium with:
• % mycorrhization level
• Tree trunk diameter
• Host tree nutritional fitness (foliar analysis)
• Truffle yields

Tuber melanosporum mycelium concentration varies with
bacteria and organic compounds treatments
CONCLUSIONS
• Each stage (age) of the plant has a different reaction for each treatment.
• In nursery phase, 11 of the 14 treatments generated a positive effect on the
concentration of mycelium. Mainly two organic substances (TR11 and
TR12) and a bacterial strain (TR9).
• In plantation 3.5 years: all treatments generated a positive effect on the
concentration of truffle mycelium in the soil. Mainly two organic substances
(TR14 and TR15) and two bacterial strains (I TR9 TR6).
• In 10 years plantation 5 to 14 treatments generated a positive effect on the
concentration of truffle mycelium in the soil, all organic substances
(TR10,11,13,14 I15).
