1. Multipliers Project
Accelerating change for children through our people
Our Vision
• Creating a world -class community of Learning and Development professionals, working pro bono
in partnership with Save the Children globally.
• Developing the awareness, skills and confidence of our managers to deliver even more for children
through our15000 people in 120 countries.
Our Goal
• Building the capability of our line managers to manage and motivate their staff to the highest levels
of performance
• Creating brilliant and impactful facilitators in country who have the skills, knowledge and motivation
to deliver learning that sticks
• Supporting the HR Directors and Country Directors to build capability in country
In doing this we need to understand the specific context of the country, making no assumptions, having
respect for their perspective and using our expertise to surface needs. To build understanding and
strengthen partnerships we would ideally like to have key Multiplier Core Partners linked with specific
Regional/ Country/Member locations
The three tiers of support are:
• Delivery
• Consultancy
• Thought leadership
The proportion these will change over time but in the short term the focus is will be on delivery.
Work has already started to develop local facilitators and support them in running programmes in country,
providing coaching and high quality learning resources.
Building our Community of Interest/support
Our draft principles
We want to build a community of world class Learning and Development professionals bound together in
service of supporting delivery Save the Children’s mission and ambitions through:
- building capability of our people
- commitment to working and sharing collaboratively
- shared interest in co-creating what ‘world class facilitation ‘ looks like cross cultures and role
modelling a sustainable approach to creating independence and partnership
Design features
• members will be joining as individuals (not on behalf of whichever organisation they may work for)
• a community that will grow organically - through selective networking and word of mouth
• membership offering different levels of commitment….each progressive level requiring greater
commitment from community members and greater scrutiny/investment by Save the Children (see
potential model attached)
• clarity about what each level of engagement requires – and what’s involved to get to each level
• flexibility to move from one level to another over time – to take account of individual
commitments/change in circumstances etc
• create opportunities to some face to face networking if feasible (members may organise this
themselves)
