2. WHAT ARE NETWORKS?
A network is a group of two or
more computer systems linked
together.

3. WHAT IS LAN?
 local-area networks (LANs) : The computers are
geographically close together (that is, in the same
building)

4. WHAT IS WAN?
 wide-area networks (WANs) : The computers are
farther apart and are connected by telephone lines
or radio waves.

5. WHAT IS CANS?
 campus-area networks (CANs): The computers
are within a limited geographic area, such as a
campus or military base

6. WHAT IS HANS?
 home-area networks (HANs): A network contained
within a user's home that connects a person's
digital devices.

7. NETWORK SECURITY.
 Network security consists of provisions
and policies adopted by the network
administrator to prevent and
monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification,
or denial of the computer network and its network-
accessible resources.

8. NETWORK SERVICE
 Network services are applications hosted
by servers on a computer network, to provide some
functionality for members or users of the network,
or to help the network itself to operate.

9. NANOSCALE NETWORK
 A nanoscale communication network has key
components implemented at the nanoscale
including message carriers and leverages physical
principles that differ from macroscale
communication mechanisms.
