Molodist’ Film Festival Partnership proposal
Promotion of Young Cinema «Molodist’» is a specialized festival aimed to support the cinema of young professional directors.   The geography of  film entries goes beyond Ukraine – it includes countries from almost all continents! We search, we find, we help young talents to  occupy a fitting place in contemporary cinema process. Program   Festival’s competition program consists of sections of student films, first short films (fiction film, animation, documentary) and first full-feature films.   We have been presenting the contemporary professional and amateur young cinema in all its diversity for forty (!) years ! Process   We create here, in Ukraine,   the most high-profile events of modern cinema, both mainstream and experiment, and we do not avoid hot topics and controversial views on the world! Each year we present around 250 films from about 40 countries! Molodist’ .   The first film festival of Ukraine
Molodist’ is the largest regular film event in Ukraine and Eastern Europe according to the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). In 1993 FIAPF officially registered «Molodist’» as a specialized International Festival, which activity completely corresponds with international standards in the principles of the program creation, the jury work, the size of the media space and purely technical aspects.  It is important to note that Molodist’ is the only festival in Ukraine that is qualified by FIAPF as a regional priority platform for presenting the latest and most important world cinema. Festival’s competition program consists of sections of student films, short films (fiction film, animation, documentary) and full-feature films of the young directors.  The non-competition section includes about 20 programs and consists of traditional programs such as  Festival of Festivals ,  German Boulevard ,  New Russian cinema ,  French cinema today , and  Art / Life , as well as unique ones such as  Scandinavian Prospect ,  Synergy ,  The Film School Program , and  People view . It also includes numerous retrospectives dedicated to famous people in cinema and events – The Retrospective of Molodist significant films, The Retrospective of FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film Critics) Prize Winners, etc. The international jury of the festival in recent years has included such renowned film figures, like Tony Gatlif, Alla Demidova, Armand Assante, Mohsen Mahmalbaf, Oleksiy Herman, Jr. and many others. Molodist’ .   Faces of the festival -2010. Many visitors are attracted by the festival opening nights, special screenings, theme programs, retrospectives and famous guests. Honourable guests of the Molodist-2010 were   Sophie   Marceau ,  Christopher   Lambert ,  Gerard   Depardieu ,  Fanny Ardant ,  Karen Shakhnazarov ,  and many significant European and world-famous actors and directors - winners of major world film festivals .  Celebrities will visit following festivals as well. Professional environment was represented by the team of the leading European and Russian producers, representatives of film festivals, film experts and critics of the world's leading film publications.
Molodist’ .   Workshops Kyiv Talent Workshop The idea of Talent Workshop is very simple: famous specialists, people with a lot of experience in different spheres of cinema, come to the festival. At the same time, the festival gathers a lot of young filmmakers who need this experience for professional growth. In 2010 the Talent Workshop took place for the 8 th  time. During the competition program renowned figures from the world of cinema hold workshops for young and talented film enthusiasts. The audience takes an active part in the workshops creating the special atmosphere of the festival. A few thousand people can get the experience so needed  for professional growth.  The workshops were held by  Cary-Hiroyuki Tahava, Alla Demidova, Alexander Rodnyansky, Jerzy Hoffman, Kira Muratova, Otar Ioseliani, Sergey Yurskiy, Vadim Christian, Pavel Bardin, Alexander Shapiro...
Molodist’ .   Festival TV and newspaper :   Molodist TV &   Molodist Daily Molodist TV Molodist TV is a specialized festival television that was first launched in 2009. It is an important component of creating the festival atmosphere and an effective tool of focusing the attention of the public on events and partner brands.  The film crew consists of 10 people equipped with the necessary filming and editing technique. Everyday they make festival diaries broadcasted on the plasma screens  at the festival centre, main festival movie theaters, and in the Internet – on the festival official website and major Ukrainian web traffic sources.   Molodist Daily Announcements and reviews of all festival events, program specials and young film critics diary are all in the festival project - Molodist Daily - the power of Ukrainian word printed on quality Finnish paper that turn the festival centre and its neighborhood in a real 'reading room' with each new issue of the newspaper. The editorial team provides daily edition with unique textual and illustrative material during the whole festival (7-8 issues).  Together Molodist Daily and Molodist TV along with the festival LCD screens form a kind of autonomous and alternative media holding company that not only informs but also creates the events.
Molodist’ .   Audience The audience of the festival consists primarily of young people with higher education, university students ,  journalists ,  and includes people of other occupations that are active, interested in good cinema and have average and above average income. Distribution between men and women is close to equal. 66%  of the audience are people of 30 years of age and less. The number of visitors of competition and non-competition programs in 2010 reached more than 100,000 people.
Molodist’ .   Press-centre Over 300 journalists are accredited to the festival every year.  85% of them represent all the leading Ukrainian media.  Foreign journalists also take part in festival review.  30 press-conferences and interviews with participants of the competition program, guests and festival jury are held throughout the whole festival. More than 500 articles about the festival are published during the festival and afterwards.
Molodist’ .   Festival locations In recent years “Kyiv”   cinema has been the festival centre, where all the major events, press-conferences, and presentations take place, and where the competition programme is shown. The location of the cinema, the lobby space, the number of cinema halls along with well-developed infrastructure make the festival centre an effective tool for the realization of the festival presentational objectives.  Non-competition programmes and reruns of the films from the competition programme are traditionally shown in such cinemas as “Zhovten”, “Kinopanorama”, “Ukrayina”, “Kinopalats”, “Butterfly-deluxe”, “Megaplex-blockbuster”, “Kyivs’ka Rus’”. Opening and closing ceremonies of the 40 th  festival have been held in the National Opera of Ukraine.
