The purpose of this letter is to recommend Monica Urigüen for a university level faculty or
administrative position. I have known Monica for about several years as a student in my
courses: The Theory and Practice on Educational Planning Educational Administration
875), Program Evaluation and Institutional Assessment (Educational Administration 826),
and Financing Postsecondary Education (Educational Administration 831). I also serve as a
member of her advisory committee for the PhD degree program of University of Wisconsin
- Madison Department of Educational Administration.
Monica is a mature, many faceted, and resourceful academician who has a strong
professional background in her native Ecuador where she has served higher education in
several important capacities. Most recently, she has been a Professor of Education at
Catholic University of Ecuador. Between 1992 and 1998 she held the rank of Professor at
Universidad Technological Equinoctial as well as a series of administrative positions and
consultancies including serving as an advisor to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education. Her
project in my planning class, entitled "Quality issues in student services: A strategic plan
for quality improvement at the
Pacific University's Business School of Ecuador exemplified to me her maturity and
resourcefulness. Her project was outstanding and later implemented. Since I first met her I
have become increasingly impressed with her quick grasp and application of new
information and her careful consideration of factors affecting
situations that interest her. She is also very pleasant to communicate and work with. I have
not witnessed any signs of weakness in Monica Urigüen.
A review of her vita demonstrates that Monica has done an excellent job of planning her
career. She knows how to set strategic goals and to make tactical changes as new
opportunities emerge that can accelerate and enhance progress toward her goals. In this

context, Monica has carefully thought through her plans for graduate study and made
excellent progress toward her goals.
In conclusion, I recommend Monica Urigüen most highly.

I also serve as a member of her advisory committee for the PhD degree program of University of Wisconsin - Madison Department of Educational Administration. Monica is a mature, many faceted, and resourceful academician who has a strong professional background in her native Ecuador where she has served higher education in several important capacities. Most recently, she has been a Professor of Education at Catholic University of Ecuador. Between 1992 and 1998 she held the rank of Professor at Universidad Technological Equinoctial as well as a series of administrative positions and consultancies including serving as an advisor to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education. Her project in my planning class, entitled "Quality issues in student services: A strategic plan for quality improvement at the Pacific University's Business School of Ecuador exemplified to me her maturity and resourcefulness. Her project was outstanding and later implemented. Since I first met her I have become increasingly impressed with her quick grasp and application of new information and her careful consideration of factors affecting situations that interest her. She is also very pleasant to communicate and work with. I have not witnessed any signs of weakness in Monica Urigüen. A review of her vita demonstrates that Monica has done an excellent job of planning her career. She knows how to set strategic goals and to make tactical changes as new opportunities emerge that can accelerate and enhance progress toward her goals. In this
