Turning Point Setup Slides, Participants List, Reports
First thing we want to do is set up one slide that has everything on it that we want. Then we will copy that slide to create a template. It’s easy as 1-2-3. 1- click insert slide, 2 –click generic slides, 3 – click 4 answers
This is what it will look like after you’ve performed the steps 1-2-3 from the previous slide.
The next thing you will do is add a “Countdown” graphic. There are several different “Countdown” graphics that you can use. Select the one of your choice by first clicking on insert object.
You can change the amount of time the countdown will last. Just click on the countdown graphic.
To insert the response table, click insert objects, response table, and fixed table.
The response table appears at the bottom of the screen.
After all graphics have been placed on slide, you want to copy the slide.
Click in the area below the slide you have copied. Look for the line beneath the slide.
Now you will paste the slide that you have copied. Paste about 10-15 slides.
The next step is to save this presentation as a template.
Save this template to your computer. Now you will have slides that have everything on them that you want.
Go back to the first slide in your presentation and type your question into the box.
Enter the answer choices. Remember that you are able to adjust the size of the graphic boxes by clicking and dragging the corners of the box.
You are able to change bullets from numbers to letters if you need to. See how on the next page.
It is a good idea to change your bullets to letters when you have answer choices that contain numbers.
Once you have entered your answer choices, you need to select the correct answer. Turning Point can’t score student responses if you don’t tell it which answer is correct.
Insert correct answer indicator by clicking insert object, correct answer indicator, and the indicator of your choice.
Before you start a session with your kids, you need to reset the session by clicking reset and session. This causes the bars to go down to 0%.
Participants List
You will need to create list with device id #s as well as student names.
Information on right tells what will be on list. Names are best information to have. Just highlight student ID and click the arrow that points to box on left. It will be removed .
You don’t need to create a new group name. Just click Next.
Name your participants list.
You will need to enter the Device ID from the Turning Point kit you are using. If you have 10 students, you will need 10 slots. Place your cursor on line 1 and press enter until you have the needed number of slots.
You will need to get the device IDs from your media specialist or you can use the handout on Extracting Device IDs. Highlight the number of device IDs you need. Once they are highlighted, you will copy them so that you can paste them into the participants list.
Now you can type your students’ names next to the Device ID that you will give them.
Before you start using a presentation, you need to select the participants list you want to use.
You want to reset the session. This takes the results down to 0%. Now your students’ responses will be recorded.
Go back to the first slide of your presentation and start slide show.
Steps for Pulling Reports Click on TOOLS Click on REPORTS Highlight SESSION Click on REPORTS TAB Click on desired reports (Word or Excel) Click GENERATE REPORTS
Click Tools.
Click Reports
This is what the screen will look like.
You will need to first highlight the session of your choice, then click the reports tab at the top.
Select the type of reports you would like to pull. In class we pulled the Participants Lists, the Results by Participants, and the Results by Participants (Score Detail)
After you have selected the types of reports you would like, click generate reports below.
This is what a Results by Participants Report looks like. It gives you the students’ names, the questions they were asked with their responses, and the answer the student selected. It also tells if the answer the student selected was correct (c) or incorrect (i).
This is what a Results by Participants Report (Score Detail) looks like. It gives you the students’ percentage correct.
This is what the Participants List Report will look like. It helps you verify the students’ names and the devise they were using.
