DRUGS
• A drug is something that affects your body.
Drugs must be able to pass through the body
and into the brain; interferes with brain’s
neurotransmitters
• Not all drugs are illegal.
• Many are legal like headache tablets,
cigarettes and glue (inhalants').

Stimulants: Stimulants are drugs that excite neural activity and speed up
body functions. Examples of stimulants are: Caffeine & Nicotine
Caffeine and nicotine increase heart and breathing rates and other
autonomic functions to provide energy
Depressants: Depressants are drugs that reduce neural activity and slow
body functions. They include: Alcohol Barbiturates Opiates
Depressants Alcohol affects motor skills, judgment, and memory…and
increases aggressiveness while reducing self awareness

Narcotics: These are drugs which relieve pain and
produce profound sleep or "narcosis”.
Narcotics include opium and its derivatives such as
morphine, heroin
These drugs causes
dizziness,nausea,drowsiness,stomach upset,slow
speach,slow breathing rate , blood pressure,etc
