Transport refers to a vehicle carrying someone or
something from one place to the lain. Transport
system can usually be divided into several distribution
depends on the way it moves, power and others.

Escalator is a moving
staircase - a conveyor
transport device for
carrying people between
floors of a building. The
device consists of a
motor-driven chain of
individual, linked steps
that move up or down on
tracks.
• Escalators are used
around the world to move
pedestrian traffic in
places where elevators
would be impractical.
• Principal areas of usage
include department
stores, shopping malls,
airports, transit systems,
convention centers,
hotels, arenas, stadiums
and public buildings.
• A moving staircase used to
carry people from one floor of
a building to another.
• Can be placed in the same
physical space as one might
install a staircase.
• Escalators are quite convenient
due to the fact that they are
quite safe in case of a
emergency.
• On top of that a escalator can
transport a large amount of
people at the same time.
• Can always walk up on one side
to get to the top faster if you
want.
• Escalator takes up more
space because it is built in
a incline which stretches
out a certain length
depending on how high it
needs to reach.
• It is not safe to take a
stroller, walker or even a
cart on an escalator.

PROCEDURE IN
HANDLING
ESCALATORS
When entering escalators:Watch the direction of the
moving step and step on and off with extra care
•Take care if you are wearing bifocals or similar eyewear
•Hold children firmly with one arm or hold child's free
hand
•Hold small packages firmly in one hand, but always leave
one hand available to hold the handrail
•Grasp the handle as you step onto the moving step
•Do not step onto an escalator going in the opposite
direction
•Do not take wheelchairs, electric scooters, strollers,
hand carts, luggage carts or similar items on the
escalator
When riding escalators:Keep loose clothing clear of steps and
sides
•Wear closed-toed and hard-soled shoes, and avoid wearing
footwear made of soft-resin or other rubbery materials
•Stand clear of the sides of the escalator
•Face forward and keep firm grip on the handrail
•Reposition your hand slowly if the handrail moves ahead or
behind the steps
•Don't climb onto or ride the handrail
•Do not let children sit on steps or stand too close to sides
When exiting escalators:Don't hesitate and step off promptly
Make sure to step over the comb fingers; don't let your feet slide
off the end of the escalator
Immediately move clear of the escalator exit area; don't stop to
talk or look around since other passengers may be behind you
FUNCTION OF ELEVATOR
O An elevator is a vertical transport equipment that
moves people or goods between floors of a building,
other structure. Elevators are generally powered by
electric motors that either drive traction cables or
counterweight systems like a hoist, or pump hydraulic
fluid to raise a cylindrical piston like a jack.
ADVANTAGES OF
ELEVATOR
O Easier for consumer to use it at office, hospital, shopping mall
and etc.
O Provide comfortable to consumers.
O Can carry heavy things.
O Useful for emergency which is lift for fire extinguisher is
provided.
O For business interests that require a lot of customers.
DISADVANTAGES OF
ELEVATOR
O Elevators require frequent maintenance
O high cost of energy to operate the elevator, the cost
of the equipment
O risk of contamination from a hydraulic fluid spill from
the hydraulic tank and the noise and slow operating
speeds.

THE SAFETY PROCEDURE AND
BEST PRACTICES IN
HANDLING ELEVATOR(LIFTS)
When riding elevators:
•Hold the handrail, if available
•Stand next to the elevator wall, if available
•Pay attention to the floor indications and announcements when provided
•If the doors do not open when the elevator stops, push the DOOR OPEN
button.
When exiting elevators:
•Exit immediately at your floor. Do not wait for others behind you
•Do not push the people in front of you when exiting
•Watch your step - the elevator car may not be perfectly level with the
floor
•
In the event of an elevator emergency:
•If the elevator should ever stop between floors, do not panic, there is
plenty of air in the elevator
•Never climb out of a stalled elevator
•Use the ALARM or HELP button, the telephone or the intercom to call
for assistance
•Above all, wait for qualified help to arrive and never try to leave an
elevator that has not stopped normally
•Emergency lighting will come on in the event of a power failure

LIFTS(ELEVATOR) ESCALATOR MOVING WALKWAYS MOVEMENT GOES VERTICAL MOVING STAIRS HORIZONTAL OR INCLINED MOVING FUNCTION a type of vertical transport equipment that efficiently moves people or goods between floors (levels, decks) of a building, vessel or other structure. a conveyor transport device for carrying people between floors of a building. is a slow moving conveyor mechanism that transports people across a horizontal or inclined plane over a short to medium distance SPEED speeds of up to 2,000 feet per minute (10 m/s) a single-width escalator traveling at about 1.5 feet (0.5 m) per second can move about 2000 people per hour. speeds of 90 to 120 feet per minute
  • 7. ESCALATORS Escalator is a moving staircase - a conveyor transport device for carrying people between floors of a building. The device consists of a motor-driven chain of individual, linked steps that move up or down on tracks. • Escalators are used around the world to move pedestrian traffic in places where elevators would be impractical. • Principal areas of usage include department stores, shopping malls, airports, transit systems, convention centers, hotels, arenas, stadiums and public buildings.
  • 8. • A moving staircase used to carry people from one floor of a building to another. • Can be placed in the same physical space as one might install a staircase. • Escalators are quite convenient due to the fact that they are quite safe in case of a emergency. • On top of that a escalator can transport a large amount of people at the same time. • Can always walk up on one side to get to the top faster if you want. • Escalator takes up more space because it is built in a incline which stretches out a certain length depending on how high it needs to reach. • It is not safe to take a stroller, walker or even a cart on an escalator.

  • 16. THE USERS SAFETY PROCEDURE IN HANDLING ESCALATORS

When entering escalators:Watch the direction of the moving step and step on and off with extra care •Take care if you are wearing bifocals or similar eyewear •Hold children firmly with one arm or hold child's free hand •Hold small packages firmly in one hand, but always leave one hand available to hold the handrail •Grasp the handle as you step onto the moving step •Do not step onto an escalator going in the opposite direction •Do not take wheelchairs, electric scooters, strollers, hand carts, luggage carts or similar items on the escalator

When riding escalators:Keep loose clothing clear of steps and sides •Wear closed-toed and hard-soled shoes, and avoid wearing footwear made of soft-resin or other rubbery materials •Stand clear of the sides of the escalator •Face forward and keep firm grip on the handrail •Reposition your hand slowly if the handrail moves ahead or behind the steps •Don't climb onto or ride the handrail •Do not let children sit on steps or stand too close to sides
  • 19. When exiting escalators:Don't hesitate and step off promptly Make sure to step over the comb fingers; don't let your feet slide off the end of the escalator Immediately move clear of the escalator exit area; don't stop to talk or look around since other passengers may be behind you
  • 20. FUNCTION OF ELEVATOR O An elevator is a vertical transport equipment that moves people or goods between floors of a building, other structure. Elevators are generally powered by electric motors that either drive traction cables or counterweight systems like a hoist, or pump hydraulic fluid to raise a cylindrical piston like a jack.
  • 21. ADVANTAGES OF ELEVATOR O Easier for consumer to use it at office, hospital, shopping mall and etc. O Provide comfortable to consumers. O Can carry heavy things. O Useful for emergency which is lift for fire extinguisher is provided. O For business interests that require a lot of customers.

When riding elevators: •Hold the handrail, if available •Stand next to the elevator wall, if available •Pay attention to the floor indications and announcements when provided •If the doors do not open when the elevator stops, push the DOOR OPEN button. When exiting elevators: •Exit immediately at your floor. Do not wait for others behind you •Do not push the people in front of you when exiting •Watch your step - the elevator car may not be perfectly level with the floor • In the event of an elevator emergency: •If the elevator should ever stop between floors, do not panic, there is plenty of air in the elevator •Never climb out of a stalled elevator •Use the ALARM or HELP button, the telephone or the intercom to call for assistance •Above all, wait for qualified help to arrive and never try to leave an elevator that has not stopped normally •Emergency lighting will come on in the event of a power failure
