The Moderates.(AD 1885-1905) 
• The congress was led and controlled by the moderate 
nationalist during the from 1885 to 1905. 
• Dadabhai Naroji,Surendranath Benerji ,Pherozeshah 
Mehta,Gopal Gokhale and more were the famous Moderates. 
• They were famous for their simple demands and they used 
constitutional and peaceful methods to realise them.
Demands of the Moderates. 
• The desire of the government was that,the 
government should introduce a member of reforms. 
• They wanted large share in government and 
expansion and reforms in the Legislative Council. 
• They demande the Ams Act to be repealed,executive 
should be seperated from the judiciary and Indians 
should be appointed at Higher Posts. 
• Abolition of Tax,development of Modern Industries 
and more were their main demands. 
• Education,irrigation,medicsl snd Health fscilities were 
their other demands from the government. 
• They wanted Swaraj within the British Rule.
Methods Of the Moderates. 
 They had a great faith in peaceful and constitutional agitation. 
 They used press and annual sessions for their 
propaganda. 
 They organised meetings, speeches, 
resolutions and positions for the Public 
Opinion and Placed their Demands.
Contribution of the Moderates. 
The policy and programme of the moderates were 
critisised by some people. 
Their efforts towards the progress of the National 
movement can’t be ignored.Their contribution in 
organising public opinion and replacing the demands of 
the people before the government,cannot be ignored. 
National consciouseness was created by them for the 
Indians and they tried to unite the people. 
Useful work like National awaking,political education and 
unification of Indians was done for them.
ADMINISTRATIVE CAUSES 
ALIEN RULE 
BRITISH JUDICIAL RULE 
INDIANS WERE EXCLUDED FROM HIGH POSTS 
LACK OF REPRESENTATION IN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
ALIEN RULE 
• India was ruled by administrators thousands ofmiles away in 
London. 
• They were ignorant about the beliefs and customs of India. 
• As a result they could neither establish proximity with the 
Indian masses nor could they win their hearts
BRITISH JUDICIAL SYSTEM 
• The new judicial system introduced by the British was 
improper and partial. 
• Rich and resourceful people were able to manipulate 
judgements in their favour. 
• It led to dissatisfaction among the common man.
INDIANS WERE EXCLUDED FROM HIGH POSTS 
• Indians were not given high posts in civil services and 
military. 
• The highest rank in military was that of a Subedar while in 
Civil Services, they got promoted only to the post of ‘Srdar 
Amin’. 
• This turned the Indians against the British.

The Moderates.(AD 1885-1905) • The congress was led and controlled by the moderate nationalist during the from 1885 to 1905. • Dadabhai Naroji,Surendranath Benerji ,Pherozeshah Mehta,Gopal Gokhale and more were the famous Moderates. • They were famous for their simple demands and they used constitutional and peaceful methods to realise them.

Demands of the Moderates. • The desire of the government was that,the government should introduce a member of reforms. • They wanted large share in government and expansion and reforms in the Legislative Council. • They demande the Ams Act to be repealed,executive should be seperated from the judiciary and Indians should be appointed at Higher Posts. • Abolition of Tax,development of Modern Industries and more were their main demands. • Education,irrigation,medicsl snd Health fscilities were their other demands from the government. • They wanted Swaraj within the British Rule.
  • 8. Methods Of the Moderates.  They had a great faith in peaceful and constitutional agitation.  They used press and annual sessions for their propaganda.  They organised meetings, speeches, resolutions and positions for the Public Opinion and Placed their Demands.
  • 9. Contribution of the Moderates. The policy and programme of the moderates were critisised by some people. Their efforts towards the progress of the National movement can’t be ignored.Their contribution in organising public opinion and replacing the demands of the people before the government,cannot be ignored. National consciouseness was created by them for the Indians and they tried to unite the people. Useful work like National awaking,political education and unification of Indians was done for them.

  • 11. ALIEN RULE • India was ruled by administrators thousands ofmiles away in London. • They were ignorant about the beliefs and customs of India. • As a result they could neither establish proximity with the Indian masses nor could they win their hearts
  • 12. BRITISH JUDICIAL SYSTEM • The new judicial system introduced by the British was improper and partial. • Rich and resourceful people were able to manipulate judgements in their favour. • It led to dissatisfaction among the common man.
  • 13. INDIANS WERE EXCLUDED FROM HIGH POSTS • Indians were not given high posts in civil services and military. • The highest rank in military was that of a Subedar while in Civil Services, they got promoted only to the post of ‘Srdar Amin’. • This turned the Indians against the British.
