• Phrasal verbs consist of a verb and another word
or phrase, usually a preposition

Drive off: Leave ( in a vehicle ) from somewhere
Example :
A woman got into the car and drove off
4. Look out: Be careful , be careful, stay tuned
Example : Look out!There’s a car coming
5. Put something away: You put something in a place where it is kept , usually
out of sight
Example: When the children had finished playing with their toys, they put
them away
6. Give something away: Give something to someone because you no longer
want more
Example: Did you sell your old computer?No,I gave it away
7. Get away with something: Do wrong without being detected
Example: I parked in a no-parking zone,but i got away with it
8. Mix up/get people mixed up (people,things): Confuse something or
someone
Example: The 2 brothers look very similar many people mixed them up
9. Put up with something: Tolerate , bear , endure something.
Example: We live on a busy road,so we have to put up with a lot of noise from
the traffic.
10. Look something up (in a dictionary/encyclopedia): Check something , get
something to inform .
Example: If you don’t know the meaning of a word,you can look it up in a
dictionary
11. Do up (a room,a building): Repair and improve something, renew
Example: The Kitchen looks great now that is has been done up
.
12. Break/Split up (with somebody): Break with someone)
Example: I’m surprised to hear that Sue and Paul have split up.They seemed
very happy together
