UHS ’58+ Meets with Catholic Relief Services, El Salvador in San Salvador
Ruthanne, Sally and Rita sort donated shoes by size for distribution through the local parish of Saint Joseph. The seven mission team members each took an extra checked army type duffle bag with shoes, dental and school supplies for the village of San Jose Villanueva.
The new student auditorium will eventually be completely roofed over. For now only the stage is covered. The mission team is being shown by ninth grade students, who work on the project, how to mix the concrete for the finishing layer on the steps to the stage.
Rita (rear) and Ruthanne sand a concrete wall of the new student auditorium in preparation of painting.
Joe Miles jokes with students as they return from their recess.
Government workers fumigate for Dengue Fever.
A house exudes the fumigating smoke from the openings along the roof. Dengue fever outbreaks require that fumigation to kill-off the mosquito that transmits the viral disease. Entire communities are treated, homes, forest, everything.
After the weekly youth mass at St. Joseph Church the kids gather in the church yard to play games.
Coconut palms are everywhere and supply food and revenue for many people in this community.
